  1. I am in need of a glove box door latch and the glove box for my 1958 B Model. Does anyone have these items for sale or can tell me where to purchase them? Watts Mack does not have the latches anymore.

    Thanks.

    Denny

i may have a latch for you. i will be in the barn tomorrow and will try to remember to look. i bought an extra glove box door with a latch in it off of ebay when i was collecting parts for mine. i then found a latch off of ebay that was new. a person on there had several for sale at one time. he kept relisting for a while. the one i bought was lockable with a key. so.... i still have a glove box door and non-lockable latch i think.

are you looking for the glove box door , or the inner cardboard liner? i bought the inner liner from watts for my B.

i will try to look on ebay to see if the latches are still listed.

mike was trying to rebuild the catch and the area around it i believe.

  2. I awoke this morning with no "Momma" beside me in bed, and church sermons emminating from the radio on the nightstand.

i havent been to church for a long time---------and then i went this morning......must be the easter season or something.aj

  3. forgot this odd looking loader I saw in Ohio.

its weird operating a loader with the pivot point behind you. you have to keep an eye on where the rearend is going when you back up or all of a sudden you can be cranked off one way without realizing it at first. we had a 5 yard IH hough.

  4. very impressive indeed. i have been in this long thought process about lettering the doors on my b model when i get closer to the end. it was hard for me to think about lettering on top of a beautiful paint job. but your truck looks awesome with the company logo running across it. very reassuring that it could look that impressive. nice job.

  5. Love your work, AJ.

The only prob I find with taking pics of things so I don't forget how they came apart is I sometimes forget to take pics in the first place! :pat:

i have the glass installed in the cab now. i will be taking a short break from working on the truck until after the new year, i take my vacation around this time of the year. but i am on trak to have the truck on the road by spring. i have everything prepped to put the fenders on next. hood and doors should follow right up.

  6. Hey AJ.

Makes me wish I were further along on mine. Keep up tha good work. Like ducky said take it slow and easy. Those copper air lines look really good. Take more pictures as you go.

    Thx

p,s. Where is Blakesly, Ohio ?

i went for keeping it all original. its basically the only way i could restore it with my limited knowledge. that is to tear it down, refurbish, and put it back together the same way i found it.

blakeslee is in the extreme northwest corner of ohio. 4 miles from indiana, and 11 miles from michigan.

i have a lot of pics, as that is the only way i stood a chance of getting it back together. i know i had to refer back to my laptop many times. and i still end up redoin things twice for forgetting a step and having to take stuff back apart. :pat:

  7. I'm looking to find a source for the original style exhasut pipes that have the long sweeping curve. These trucks just don't look right to me without them.

i made my own. i got a piece of exhaust pipe, welded the flange on from my old pipe, and i had just enough left of my old pipe to determine the angle.

i have a friend that is an electrician, and we used his conduit bending machine to bend the pipe.

  8. Unless they are in really bad shape you would be surprised what you can do with some steel wool. I would recommend starting with that and see what you think.

I just got my gauges back in. i wanted to keep my old gauges. i like the original look. mine looked like yours when i started. the amp gauge is new. rest are original.

(and yes i know the hi beam indicator is in the wrong hole.)

unless you are going to rechrome, you can shine up a gauge and see what you think of it.

  9. Knew about the rust, hopin they were stainless as I could clean them up pretty good...

    SOS pad and water?

Do people send these out for rechrome or buy new? THey all look like Stewart Warner guages..

    Thanks

i wanted to keep my dash as original as i could so i cleaned all the rust off mine with steel wool and a dremel tool and then taped them up and cleared them to keep them from rusting again. i was happy with the outcome. it depends what look you want out of your dash. i liked the old gauges wihtout the "sw" label on them.

  10. All of my B61's, (56, 57, 58, 64) have an interior buzzer under the dash. It looks like a relay with an aluminum cover. I can't remember if they have "Delco-Remy" stamped into the cover or not but it certainly seems so.

None of the trucks have a low air lamp.

I am sorting out wiring now. there is a light under my turn signal switch. maybe it was added on. i will investigate more this week. i think its in the air circuit. still tracing a few wires down. thanks.
