  2. Well so far, my opinion of the thing is that it is absolute JUNK! 2 friggin hours later and the thing STILL isn't set up. It kept booting me out of the setup program saying there was a problem connecting to the server...and now, it is having trouble sending the programming info over to the remote. MUCH more of a PITA than it is worth...everything I have is Sony, except the Dish receiver and the TV...and the TV will be Sony, too, if I ever stop being such a penny-pincher and buy one. Sony remotes work out of the box with other Sony products, so I'd just have to program in the dish receiver.

What took me so long on the last universal remote was programming it to turn on the TV & switch that to the video input, turn on the amp, and turn on the dish all with the press of one button...had to get the timing down so that things would all turn on correctly....get the sequence of button pushes correct.

This one is all computer connection related....and that's where I have problems. Everything is plugged in and it SHOULD be working...but it ain't.

why not use your dish remote and program your tv to run with it? i leave my dish on all the time. is there a reason not to leave the dish on 24/7?then i just turn the tv on with the dish remote. aj

  4. I don't know...I like knowing who won before I go to bed at night. A lot of these predictions are based upon polling data, voter turnout data, as well as the historical vote tally in the various states and regions of the state. I remember one year watching and the ® gubernatorial candidate here in Illinois was up nearly 70/30 and they called it for the (D)...the reason? The votes from "downstate" had been tallied...but the votes from Chicago had not. Sometimes they are wrong (i.e. Florida in 2000 when they called it for Gore forgetting that the panhandle was still voting...then when those votes started coming in they changed their mind). These pundit predictions and projections really don't mean squat, though, because the OFFICIAL tally happens when ALL of the votes are counted and the Secretary of State validates the results.

...and if you let some political hack talk you out of voting by saying your candidate either "won" or "lost" certain other states, you must not have felt very strongly about the election to begin with. Hell, in a lot of states, voting has been open for a MONTH!!! Why on earth would you wait until the last minute to cast your ballot?

    because thats what procastinators do.....................................aj

  6. we have several detectors and that gives you a chance to compare once in awhile to insure that they all read the same. we will commonly have one laseer set and maybe two crews using the beam. a good test in the field is to set laser and take readings, turn off laser, spin 180 degrees, turn on and recheck heights to see if they match. aj
