  1. I wonder how much is hype. But it really wouldn't surprise me if we were the way the last 2 months have gone. I've been stacking snow and making room all week!
  2. All my work is in Jersey so I have no need to go out of state and decided not to bother with apportioned. I'm going to go to Trenton to see if I can get constructor plates and attempt to get them switched over.
  3. RFC- Thanks, I will have to take a ride down to Trenton when I get a chance but whatever you can find out next time you plow would help. I think you are right as far as I know most tandems are running 70,000 in NJ. Right now my tandem is registered at 80,000 because at the Joyce Kilmer DMV they told me that I had to add the weight of my tag along and register it at my Max GCVW? Also, I'm not positive but will check the door tag tomorrow or Saturday but I believe my truck has 20k fronts and 58k rears and it says 78k GVW. So if they still issue "constructor plates" I do have the correct specs. This is my first truck of my own and am trying to stay as legal as possible and avoid any hassles!
  4. Im in Jersey and I bought a truck with 20k front and 58k rears but I believe I only registered it regular commercial at 70,000 but I guess it was a waste because I'm only good for 56,000? If that's true I have to go down to the dmv and get that changed to constructor. I wish I found this out before I registered or got busted!
  5. I can imagion! I've been plowing in my f450 and backhoe and it's been adding up. I really need to find a spot for my tandem on NJDOT next season and not sitting!
  6. Just heard 8 to 12" with maybe some mixing for Somerset county NJ.
  7. RFC- The dash sticker has the shift pattern for a 13 speed. I've been shifting it with that pattern. Now you have me wondering though. It had a rebuilt trans put in before I bought it and I have check the paper work to see what that says. REEL- Thanks. I know they really tried to hype up that storm for Sunday and scare people. I guess we'll know if the were right on Friday!
  8. Thanks It was a Hiler truck. He sold it to the previous owner in 04 or 05. Truck is in great shape and clean. Only 250k milesIt's got E7 400 HP, Mack 13 speed, 58 rears
  9. Seems like all I've been doing this winter has been plowing and moving snow in my backhoe. Not complaining though! I just bought my '99 Mack Rd in mid December. It was too late everyone that I knew had there spots filled so I couldn't find a spot for it to plow for the state. Hopefully next year! Looks like the storm on Wednesday/Thursday could be a big one.
  10. I saw a 2007 Mack Granite tri axle on eBay in Flanders. Below is the link if your interested. http://m.ebay.com/itm?itemId=321289980870
  11. Thanks for the help. I wasn't to worried to much about the plate and pintle as much as the cab valve and the plumbing and the air tank. Glad it's not a deal breaker.
  12. Does anyone know if this is going into effect in NJ too? I'm looking to purchase a Mack RD tandem to haul 70k but I may reconsider and buy a tri axle if I won't be able to!
  13. I'm looking at purchasing a 1998 RD tandem dump that doesn't have a pintle or the valve for air to the rear. My question is could the cab valve and plumbing for the air to the rear be added easily and how costly? Is it even worth doing or find a truck that has it already done? What do you guys think?
  14. Im new here and I've been looking to purchase a Mack Tandem Dump truck for around $30K to use in my excavating business to tow machines and haul some dirt and stone when needed for my own work. Every truck that I look at has some degree of rust between the double frame rails. Everytime I come across this it scares me away. So, it has got me wondering am I being to picky and how much rust is too much? Also, How much rust will cause a truck to fail a safety inspection and put it out of service? Thanks Al
