  1. My concern is loosing a lot of pulling power. It pulls well for a little 400. I know I'm gonna lose a little but I don't want to lose whole lot. If it was a cat.. no problem 3.91 here we come. I've ran 120k with that setup but it's a mack. 11liter. Trying to keep balance.
  2. Not quiet following. It's a dump truck. They still go off road. I have a rear going so I figure try to kill two birds with one stone. I'm unfamiliar with that ratio because all the macks I ever driven were quads, 6, and 7spd and the rear ratios are up in the 5s so some advice is still needed. Are you saying the 12 doesn't go good with 3.87... what are you saying
  3. 11r 24.5. It's also a dump truck so I kinda feel I'm gonna lose the bottom with a 3.87 rear
  4. Right now I'm running 4.42 in my 97 rd with 400 and 12spd. Problem is now I'm running the highway and I don't like 65mph at 1700rpm. I would like it to be at 70mph at 1700rpm. I would like to run 65mph at 1600ish if not a little lower. Will I achieve this with a 4.17 ? How much bottom end I'm I gonna lose? I'm running 11R 24.5. Also can I run to different ratio rear ends like a front 4.42 and a rear 4.17?
  5. There is no power to box.. still very bad draw on batteries.
  6. ok...with ground wire disconnected from all batteries. With test light hooked to ground terminal on battery... I'm getting power at three wires attached to left side of box. Is that because its just searching for a ground at that point? If i hook test light to ground terminal on battery snd then to ground wire thats suppose to be on terminal i have power. If i disconnected that box i lose the power on ground side. Does that mean that box is bad. I also have power to wire tree on all wires on left hand side with key off. Relay in dash is wrking to par. Cab fan turns off with click in dashboard
  7. with negative wire unhooked from all four batteries..... test light hooked to negative terminal on battery checking negative cables.... test light lights up. All wires on the strip have power ( which they shouldn't). When i disconnect this i lose power or (short) on my ground. What is this box for ?
  8. Owe. Its also mounted to an eaton 8ll
  9. Timing sensor on flywheel. Clean it and see if it makes a difference. If it does. Replace it
  10. Ok... first let me say this. I know of an em7 with a 460 turbo and pump on it with a lot if fuel added to it. Probably too much fuel BUT.... LET ME TELL YOU. THAT THING IS AN ANIMAL. I will also tell you it us headgasket time. It ran well for a few years. I do not feel this is the setup for you. Especially when you make these long pulls. It works here in N.Y. because one it does a lot if local work. We have hills but just not enough to over work her. With that being said. Some of the torque curve is produced in the pump. If I'm understanding things right. It has something to do with how governor works inside pump. I dont think he changed cams but im sure pump timing is different. It was a Canadian em7 from what i was told. I only can verify its definitely an em7. Like I said before. Very fun for what its used for. I think you would blow it up.
  11. I will get serial number 4 you... its suppose to be a 400. Sounds like it can use a valve adjustment.
  12. on a good pull. I can get her up around 35psi. This is the one with the Borg warner turbo tho which is another topic. When she is up there. She is very 😊.
  13. Now as far as our etechs. Im sure the 2 granites (03s) are diamonds in a rough. There also n.y. gearing. So there maxed out at 76mph but man. They pull very well for 400hp.
  14. Good to know.. listen the old girl fires right up. Little ticking coming from back side of motor. (Really sounds like a valve). Seems to burn clean. Haven't loaded her yet. ( hauler qualifications are ridiculous) but hopefully next week we will be running
  15. Do you feel its making the same power as the etech at a 400hp rating
  16. I brought a 97 E7 400 with a 12 spd. Seems to make good oil preasure. Its a semi electric motor. Still bosch type pump with electric throttle. Runs ok. Nothing like our 03 E7 400. Those models are also making 30psi in boost were mine seems to make no more than 25psi.... Is there anything that changed big internally through the years besides oil pump? If i were to open motor for rebuild is there anything i would want to upgrade?
  17. Try blowing out radiator... If its a granite. They tend to clog up...
  18. just wanted some honest opinions. What do you think is the best year for the E7 motor?
  19. So are you guys saying the ai is a good engine after a few mods? If so. How comparable to an e7
  20. I would like to also know the difference between it and other e7 400. There is so much on this topic like. I hear some of these engines have two piece pistons... Some people say the compression ratio are different but when you look at a mack chart you see thats not true?
  21. Ok. So i just recently purchased a 97 688s with a e7 400. Semi electric. Its only making 25psi boost. I know our etech 400 is making around 32psi. Is my boost preasure off our is 400hp achieved thru timing? Or is my boost preasure low?
  22. Just replaced both steerboxes and pump in 2000 rd. Thought i had hoses marked out properly but it will turn great to the right and only return to turns to the left. Now i know they have to be bleed but i want to make sure hose routing is correct. It seems that primary box is driver side. Return to tank comes from passenger side. What has me stumped are the preasure hoses between the two. If there is any pic or hose diagram please it will be helpful. Guidance included.
  23. Honestly... for me. Just did a gasket on one. I have great oil preasure but now the dam thing has a miss in it. Like iy has water in fuel. So was just wondering could there be any relationship between the two
  24. If you put in gasket backwards(out of curiosity) will you still read oil pressure.
