  1. It's official, the Mack E Model Registry is under way with a grand total of just seven Es in Australia and the US listed so far (apologies to those who have read this on ATHS).

If you own an E or know someone who does please drop me a line by email or private message.

Once I have a decent number of trucks listed (say 50), I will make the registry available to whoever is interested. The format will follow that of the B Model register and the E register will be available on the net somewhere in pdf format.

Thanks to Lee Haeberlein, Tom Freeman, Bob Gilbreath, David Waits and Mike Harbison for their help getting this off the ground and to Barry for making this a sticky!

    Cheers

  2. G'day 'fan

Best way for a good guess on how much to pay is to see pics. However, if you think you're getting a good deal and really want the B, then we're not going to stop you! Some of the guys on here will be able to give you a good idea but it's up to you in the end.

The ATHS magazine "Wheels of Time" advertises "Top of the Hill" Mack parts or whatever. They do wiring harnesses. Also, check out www.oldmacksrus.com for some diagrams that might be useful.

Sounds like she's been sitting outside for quite awhile. Good on ya for trying to save her. :SMOKIE-RT:

    Good luck.

  3. G'day Al

Great to hear from you mate! The registry is under way.

If you are looking for parts, I'm probably not the best person to ask being in Australian and all. However, put a post in the Wanted section here and got to www.aths.org and jump on the discussion page and ask there. The guys here and at ATHS should be able to help. Barry, the admin for this site and Watt's Mack dude, might have some leads for you too.

When you get a chance, please drop me a line with the chassis number of your truck, your contact details and some pics! The pics aren't really necessary but I'd love to see your EE dump! Must be a very cool truck.

    Cheers

  4. G'day David

Thanks mate. That pumper in FL is definitely a S75 going by the data plate and the radiator shell. Jeff L confirmed that as well when he spoke to the seller.

post-61-1162732701.jpgLet me know when you get the E model registry started,Andy.I have quite a few E's.

    Mike

What a bloody unreal pic! Feel free to fire the details of your E's to me whenever you get the chance. Lee H. has already sent me the details of his EH.

I need to speak to Tom Gannaway to ask if I can use the format that he uses for the B registry. I will use that format as it is familiar, unless anyone has any suggestions.

  5. Hi David

I just sent you an email.

Sounds like getting a fairly complete truck is the best way to go so there's less dependence on parts supplies. Did you see the pics that Bob Gilbreath posted of his EQ tractor? That's a sweet truck. Hope I can find one at least in that condition.

I agree with you on the look of the E. One of the best lookers around. The E was one of the first trucks that knocked me over with good looks when I first got into old bangers.

  6. Hi guys

My wife and I are looking for an E model as our next truck. They're not that common in Australia and we'll have to find it on the other side of the country but we're keen anyway.

Am building a file on E models which consists of as many pics as I can find, diagrams, books etc etc. If anyone has any pics of E wrecks, restored Es or whatever, I would be most grateful if you could please pm me or email me. If you own one or have restored or driven one in the past I welcome your comments on the joys and/or pitfalls of doing so.

If you have an E in your gallery, please let me know so I can make a copy of it for my file. Have already raided Hank's Truck Pictures but any leads to other net sources would also be much appreciated.

I am also thinking of setting up an E registry along the lines of the famous B registry. Is that something you guys would be keen to see?

We recently sold our B to a good home but, since Jodi and I are Mack people, we can't think of not having one to look after!

Once you go :mack1: , there's no going back! :SMOKIE-RT:

    Cheers for now

  7. Okay, so I know this is a subject that has been run over several times over the years but I thought I might start it up again to see if anyone can remember new stuff or if new members have anything to add.

Basically, if you have seen a Mack featured in a movie or TV, no matter how insignificantly, list it here.

    Convoy - obviously

Rocky - opening scenes of Stallone running has a B model backing out of picture in the background

Cars - "Mack", Lightning McQueen's Superlliner transporter

Episode of Cold Case features an L model fire truck - vague I know

The Motorcycle Diaries - L model fire truck in one of the village scenes

Bad Boys II - Mack car transporter stolen by bad guys and used in freeway car chase

    Mad Max II

Paperback Hero - Hugh Jackman driving a road train

Before Night Falls - footage of L models during the Cuban revolution

Hoffa - haven't seen it but an old Wheels of Time had a feature on ACs being used in it

    That's about me tapped out!

    Cheers

  8. Hi guys

A mate and me are looking at getting the blue L model in my gallery if it's available for the right price. Is there anyone out there who has one or knows someone who does? Would like to find out more about them, how popular they were etc.

We don't have a chassis number yet but should have soon to send off to the Mack Museum.

    Hope everyone is groovy.

    Cheers

  9. Hi there, I run radials on the steer axle and bias on the drives. I don't like the "hopping" that you get with bias or nylon tires as the radials are much smoother especially after sitting for a spell. I don't disagree with any comments so far but my trucks do for the most part reside inside my shop when not in use so sidewall breakdown is not a pertinent issue.

    Rob

Yep, flat spots would be my biggest complaint with bias tyres that have been sitting for a bit.

    Cheers

    Andy
