  1. the rod length is not the issue here, ther are many laengths of rods,, the stroke of the plunger in the diaphragm is where the difference is. the actual movement of the rod.. you can also see that the center section of the brake chamber is wider too..
  2. Macks, there are 2 1/2'' and 3'' maxi's.. the 3'' one's can be identified buy square cut ports for the air lines,,, just in case you can read the lable or whatever... Jojo
  3. axles need to have matiching brake components across them.. These guy's told you right.. Jojo
  4. No screen in that year.
  5. It may not have a filter.. E.L.C. red coolant
  6. the ASET-AI, would be a great engine if they would just turn the clock back and Make it an E-Tech... Save the manifold... the good ones are scarce..
  7. all good news.. take the exh. maniifolf off the AMI, and replace it with the E-7 manifold, those breathe better, you can see the differnce in diameter, and when you seperate them the AMI has an oval port that is small in comparison..
  8. For the Mack, or the dozer? Red E.L.C. is common for the Mack. Change the conditioning filter every 2 years, or less depending on what the test strips tell you..
  9. You should be able to remove the plastic vent strip under the windshield to expose access to the transmission. It comes out and goes in as a whole assembly. Take note of the rectangular piece that mounts to the motor stud. It faces up or down.. also, leave the wiper arms off until the end. Also, once you get the transmission in place, before attaching the rectangular block. Run the wiper motor for a cycle, so that it is at 'home position' then connect the block to it. Be careful of the sharp edges of the holes in the cab.
  10. The auto power divider still allows the wheel with the least traction to spin. for example on uneven terrain whe the wheels are dramatical at different levels to the ground.. and I also believe they dont like severly un-even tire wear.. like when you put new tires on one axle but the other axle has nearly worn out tires..
  11. Yep, here it comes,. however, this year we only have 1 tree to clean up after, and its my nieghbors willow oak.. I just tuned up the back pack blower, and Terri will blow all the leaves back in my neighbors yard. It's funny. she surrounds the tree with its leaves.. the tree is 4 feet across at eye level..
  12. now we just need an update.. I hope He got lucky with the E.U.P.'s..
  13. all good buddy.. The 2 of us work well together here...
  14. ok 1995,,, 680 jake heads, yes there should be a spec on valve cover. I am trying to post the jake brake specs, but this damn #200 code keeps popping up. My mack book says: .080''
  15. I forgot to comment on the unit pump.. fjh is right,, I suggest you get 12 new bolts. 8mm allen headed, 10mmx1.50, grade 10.9,,, 70mm long I believe, Mack should still stock them. yoou can replace the bolts one at a time so that you wont disturb the E.U.P. o-rings. final torque is 60 ftlb's
  16. what year is the engine? is the jake head a 680 or 690? I have books with specs for the 680.. I know the 690 off the top of my head..
  17. I'm rusty now, but I remember the ground posts on the fire wall getting loose. all the cab ground wires are gray in color.
  18. heck,, we're tearing this thread to peices.. I like to mess with Mech.. He's a great sport... and very smart too.. I look forward to how he fixes his popping noise..
  19. Sorry Grandpa.. You Crack me up Bud..
  20. Amen GADave.. I have been in Salisbury N.C. for 19 years.. I bet the snow total in that time is about 3 feet.... When I lived in Maine... I could wake up to see 12-24 inches that fell while I slept.. I don't miss that at all.... of course as a school boy, I liked it if school was closed.. then i would get on my snowmobile and ride up and down the road like a Rebel..
  21. Mech.. he posted a picture of the outer cam drum.. it is as bad as the ones you saw 95 years ago... just sayin'
  22. Yes Vlad, however if you ad up the wear on the cams and the peanuts, which im sure are ground down, popping noises are possible.. i never liked these auto power dividers anyway..
