Eye candy definitely raises the property value.
It's the tattoo. It's got to be the tattoo. That's why the girls like you so much. LOL

Once again the thread has been hijacked and steered hard into the ditch. Now I will attempt a corrective manouver and get back onto the original course, that being the business of welcoming Larry to the forums. These guys may try to steer you in a bad direction sometimes, you just gotta be aware. So far I think you'll be OK; you got past that Mack / Freightliner debate early in your career. That shows tremendous common sense unwavered by general consensus.

I notice
seems to be popular in the Northeast as far as OTR/regional and garbage hauling operations is concerned. Here in the Mid-West
is popular with garbage outfits, dump outfits, tanker outfits, and not really popular as far as OTR/regional operations. Are
popular anywhere else besides the Northeast and Mid-West, if so in what type of operations are they popular in? I get excited when I see a
in OTR/regional operations because it's a rare site to see with other junk trucks being on the road due to companies purchasing them for cheap.
I recently took my first trip over the Rockies and into Spokane, WA. I had never travelled that far west before. I have studied trucking history so I was not surprised at the lack of
out west. Just regional preferences based on location of manufacture, I suppose. KW's and PETE's were originated on the west coast and still maintain popularity there. In more recent times, Mack has not had a big power engine to compete in the western mountain markets.
It was also interesting to me to see the different trailer and wheelbase configurations in various areas of our country, such as Rocky Mt. doubles and triples, and truck/ full trailer combos. Quite a few cabover trucks still in use as well, probably due to the longer trailers.

You can thank the unions for Brockway being shut down. Just like the US auto companies of today.
You beat me to it, David. Mack shut them down when the union at Brockway wouldn't deal.
Let's not forget Volvo is keeping jobs in Hagerstown by building both brand engines at MACK's powertrain plant.

I would like to think that the Hooters gals pictured are "driver friendly"...

Call it what you will. I'm just glad to see major customers still buying the Mack nameplate. More sales means the name will stick around. I don't blame Mack or Volvo for the consolidation. Mack would have been long gone already if not for Volvo's pocketbook.

Good to see ABF keeping the faith. Lets keep our fingers crossed for the new MP engines. Mack needs a good engine to rebuild customer confidence.

I've seen this Superliner at Carlisle and Lititz in 2008 and I must say it is one of the finest examples out there. Great looking truck.

What Barry is trying to say, in a diplomatic way, is that the nut behind the keyboard is loose.

My CX came from the factory with a bent over pin on the wire connector for the fresh air door actuator. It was stuck on fresh air all the time for 5 years ! I always switch to "recirculate" when in dusty conditions. No wonder the cores were all plugged with dust. When I dug into my dash to solve my airflow problems, only then did I find the clogged cores and defective wiring.

A special edition truck, probably somebody's pride and joy at one time, reduced to scrap metal. Sad, indeed, whatever the circumstance.
-
Sounds good. Rumor has it, that it may have been delivered new to the Hatfield (Montgomery County) Fire Company, and later sold to a department out in that direction. Also if it is the same truck, it has been re-furbished by the Swab (a builder/rebuilder of fire truck bodies.)
As I recall the name on the door is "LUXOR FIRE DEPT." a little town just south of New Alex. I may be out that way this week. I will definitely stop & investigate.

my dealer quoted me like $600 for both panels? Is this correct? It seems for that much you get the whole cluster, dials and all. Let me know how much you paid..... if you dont mind.
Your parts guy must be looking at the full guage cluster. Give him those part numbers the guage panel was $88 and the switch panel was $200 in 2003. Maybe just a couple dollars more today. Let me know how you make out.

Thanks for the pics, Otherdog. Lots of rare, old iron there. I especially enjoy the cabovers.

Check into vintage auto supply houses and also car & truck shows and flea markets if you want the cloth covering. It is being reproduced.

Most Macks I have seen will pass some oil through the air system. Much better with an air dryer, but nothing to worry about.
-
Just have to do some good old fashioned "exploratory surgery". If only certain vents don't work the ducting may be apart or in your case there may be a potato roll stuck in there!
From time to time the heater core may get plugged up with dust, etc. but in that case you would have no airflow anywhere.

Tylerstanley,
I had to research my archives to come up with part numbers for the dash panels; I got them back in 2003.
The guage panel is #84MT571M5, the switch panel is #96MT514M2.
These are the wood grain Granite dash panels with chrome guage bezels. They do fit the vision, too(with minor mods) if anyone with a Vision wants a little BLING for the dashboard. I also got the switch panel because I like the layout better than the Vision; there's room for more switches. If you take notice on the Rawhide trucks, Mack cheated by only adding the CV guage panel, using the CH/CX side panel. The contour of the panels don't match up. It would bug me if I had to look at it every day. Perhaps a little nitpicky on my part, but little details like that are easy to take care of when the truck is being assembled.

I have the gray dash for my 06' CV713. And was trying to upgrade to the wood dash with the chrome rings. But my mack dealer either says you have to buy the WHOLE panel (gauges and ALL). I dont see how thats right because you can just unbolt the panel from the gauges. If anybody could provide me with a part number that would be great! Thanks. Also, is it possible to add a boost pressure gauge to my factory gauges?
I bought the granite wood grain panels for my Vision just as blank panels, no guages or switches. The dash should be the same on an '06 (mine is an '00). Give me a couple days I will track down the part numbers.
I also added a boost guage to my truck. As long as you have an empty guage space (factory boost guage is mounted top left) all you need to do is buy the guage, plug it into the dash port, and have your dealer shop hook up the computer to "turn on" the new guage.

F.W.D. , I pass by there on a fairly regular basis. Next time I will stop and get some pics and specs for you. Then we can get together for coffee; heck we're practically neighbors!

That is amazing to watch! I often wonder why combos like that do not see more use in the states. More manuverable and productive IMHO. The standard semi seems outdated to me, along with antiquated axle and bridge laws.

the SUV is definitely late model, not too many miles on that one!

Barry,
On my way to and from Blair County today (Saturday), I saw a R model fire truck for sale along Route 22. It is just a few miles west of your dealer. What do you know about it? I see the price is $12,500. What is it worth? Thanks!
the price dropped on that truck as of 5/7 it was $8500. Looks real clean but a fire truck I do not need (so I am told)

Common sense is lacking these days!
I guess that is how Freightliner sells so many trucks !
