  1. I had a driver call me years ago, 230 Cummins, said it ran hot,, and was knocking,, shut it off and it wouldn’t start back ( locked up) I drove about 30 minutes to him ,, it started up when it cooled , no knock, sounded ok , drove it back to shop and pulled the pan and you could see liner scoring on one cylinder, probably would have did what yours did if it had ran much more, that liner is not that thick in the o ring groves, It’s hard to tell if it was overheated before you got, I think you got some good advice from the other guys , and good call on your part to go through the injectors  . You won’t have to worry about it when you head out on a long road trip.

  2. O my ! Im sorry about the engine problem ,, I have had a few Cummins getting coolant in the pan , hopefully when you pull the pan you can add a little pressure while it’s still full of coolant and see were it’s dripping down at ,, I have the same concern about my 220 because even though I was the last to drive it with a load , and it ran great,, it’s been setting since 1990s , I have started it and it’s full of coolant, but I’ve not worked it.

  3. I have a great Maximum Overdrive story,, much too long to go into detail here,, Very short version,, a friend of mine was working at the White dealer in Wilmington NC , Stephen King came in and wanted to buy some trucks, My friend rode him in one, and he told him he was going to make a movie there ( and much of the film was shot in Wilmington) my friend said it sounded kinda crazy to him! King bought several trucks, I can’t remember how many, but the Western Star with the clown face was one and the wrecker that crashed the 2 newlyweds was one ( actually it was the shop wrecker they were using) He went into more detail about the whole deal . But that’s a little history i can share .

  4. Yes I’m so glad to have had Family members and Guys I worked with when I was young,, that was part of the “ Greatest Generation “ , I cherish the countless stories they told me,, Literally , from Pearl Harbor, to the Battle of the Bulge ( Even my Grandmother made Parachutes working at American Enka during WWII ) . They sacrificed so much for us . Thank you for the picture ,, and again, THANK You for your Service!

  5. Probably at this point I have reduced the number of wires so I’ll be better off making one. As for the 220s I’m not a expert on them,, I heard they came out in 1959, this one was a Cummins recon, put in in 1963 ,, the welding supply co had it done,, ( unsure if the old disc pump 200 would be accepted as a core back then) I have a friend with a old Gallion motor grader with a 220 , it has 2 accessary drives like mine,, I believe I saw one with a Super Charger driven with a chain off the right accessory drive,, Maybe all factory options.
