  1. If 1 has been sitting for awhile (DD 2 stroke), I pull valve covers & use my hand primer (that you have to make up) & put it in the in side of secondary fuel filter & pump power service through fuel system & barring engine over, so fuel gets through injectors good. That engine probably has the solid rack, if so it only takes 1 injector to stick & all will hang. It could have a spring loaded rack & they are individual, but have seen several injectors hang with spring loaded racks & governor can’t over come.

make sure emergency kill works, I usually take air intake hose off & get me & good stiff piece of cardboard or a bunch of towels just in case.

  2. Back in the 90’s I worked for a DD dealer. I ran service & in the city limits of Memphis was no mileage fee. Anything outside city was $2.50 a mile, plus labor. A minimum charge of 2hrs anywhere you went. There’s no telling what they charge today. I do some work now (very little) and add for mileage,  I’ve been just doubling fuel cost (guessing). I’m not in business like you. I try to be fair to them & myself.

  3. $100.hr in the Memphis area for good mechanic shop for awhile now, probably couple yrs. If you can get them to do a service call they get mileage. Most of them have a minimum charge also. I’m thinking our fuel prices are also less than y’all east coasters.

Doug Fetterly called me earlier this week and had some sad news that Mike Harbison Sr. has passed. He was a good friend and will be missed dearly especially by the Mack Truck family. Everyone keep his family in your prayers. Seems like we're loosing too many friends every year. Everyone be safe over the weekend.

Thanks & appreciated, but it’s already a thread about Mike. RIP SUPER DOG.

  5. I’m pretty sure, I think. LOL

in the beginning of the maxidyne in early 70’s??? with the 5 speed transmission, I’m not sure if they had to have Mack rears, but even engines were gold. They had to quit with gold paint for some reason. They had gold dogs, (I’m pretty sure every component had to be Mack also). Maxidyne with 5speed gold dogs. Some trucks would have econodyne on the hood??????

Some time later, I’m saying after the (R) they started putting gold dogs on trucks with all Mack components. & trucks that were elite models & all.

like I said, I think I’m close & this is from reading on here about this as long as I’ve been on the site.

  6. I’m from north MS. See them average at sales from 8 to 12 thousand. That 1 looks really nice, might bring more. It really depends on overall conditions.Everything has really gone up lately.

  7. I helped 2 guys when I was a kid farm, they bought a new to them 95JD combine. 40 miles from home & drove it with the variable speed in low because they wouldn’t see what that lever was. I remember the brother asking what that lever was & the other slapping his hand don’t fool with that. You should’ve seen the looks on there faces when the got home & pushed the lever to high!!
