  1. Heres a picture of what I have on my truck I assume at one time the lowers had some kind of rubber grommet or bumper on them they may be the same as whats on a superliner.
  2. I would like to buy a set of 22.5 aluminum wheels for the front of my truck they don't have to be pretty I can polish them out myself as long as they are not badly scratched or have dings all over them.
  3. Those western trucks were hauling from ozinga-Hampshire last week.
  4. Im trying to find a set that mounts to the back of the cab .
  5. Im trying to find a P/N mack dealers around here have a tough time with anything over 10 years old.
  6. Yes it did had everything the same as mine 237 with a five speed also had the older style buds wheels in the front Im looking for the brackets that bolt the stacks to the cab like that one had so I can do the same to this one.
  7. Yes it did it was owned by an oil company in elgin that's where he bought it from now its shanahans low boy truck. The hood bumpers I need come off the lower cowl over the battery boxes they are like the CH design but are different shorter and flatter.
  8. Thanks appreciate the tip Im having a hard time finding replacement rubber for the lower hood supports right now.
  9. Im in need of a couple pictures of the lower hood rests on a RS700L truck the steel part is still there but the rubber is gone they look like they might be like the lower hood rests that peterbuilt uses. If I can get a picture I can make new rubber pieces but need to know what they look like first I have been busy polishing up all the aluminum on the truck these will be next on the list.
  10. Yep that's where he did it I drove the truck all day just a bit of pull to the right no worse for wear after its ordeal I did start calling it the general lee this morning.
  11. Im sure it wont be like it was when I drove it this spring for a day.
  12. They are hard at work putting the RB I used to drive and the trailer back together sorry no pics but the driver missed the stop sign at a T intersection in the fog Saturday with a load on and dropped into a narrow four foot deep ditch on the other side dropped in and bounced into and over the other side and went through to fences before coming to a stop in a field. Any other truck in our fleet would have lost the front axle this has a 20000 front and 44000 rears hitting the other side of the ditch destroyed the bumper and when the bumper came up messed up the hood they had to heat the bumper brackets to bend them down again. the trailer had one of the saddles ripped off that keep the frameless trailer aligned going down the road also had to replace the steering wheel as it was cracked by the driver slamming into it I hear I might be the lucky guy who has to haul gravel with it tomorrow.
  13. Im kind of used not having power steering been driving around 2 1/2 ton military trucks for years but being three years away from the big 60 it doesn't get any easier.
  14. I like the long hood but after 30 years I had forgotten how many turns of the wheel it takes to round a corner with out power steering.
  15. Im going to shop around for the parts I need the truck will for sure be repainted this coming spring having trouble getting the passenger door to latch tight had to drill and tap the handle lots of corrosion on the smaller side of the handle people looking it over at the auction had it pulled partially out of the door shell.
  16. Heres some pics from today drove home 1 1/2 hours drove great oil pressure was at 80 PSI after the truck was warm running 60 MPH got home tried to shine her up lots of orange peel in the paint and some really good fiberglass repairs buffed it out and hit it with a coat of wax. Has had the rockers replaced at one time some minor rust holes but very small ones needs cab bushings and hood bumpers I think I can shim the top ones to make up for the wear.Im going to go online and source some bulk window channel felt needs a door striker on the passenger side where is the best place to get parts we have two mack dealers pretty close but they are pretty proud of their parts by the way they price them.
  17. I have a couple things Im going to change on it it will get a set of dual chrome exhaust stacks I have a trade deal in the works with our head mechanic at work for the set on his personal mack for the muffler set up on mine. Im also going with a set of polished aluminum budd wheels on the front I will be saving everything I take off so if I decide to sell the truck down the road sometime it can be put back to original. This is only going to be a parade truck we do lots of them every year so some bling is required I see the frame was originally black where it didn't get painted under the cab I may just paint it red as it is or return it to factory black all things I will decide to do over the winter. Today after it gets to my place a complete cleaning of the interior is in the works as well as figuring out how to tackle the few rust spots that need attention I just wish I could have gotten it during the summer so I could work on it more. I may have to rent space in a heated shop this winter to do the paint and body work the hood and doors will be taken off so a proper paint job can be done to it the doors need to be realigned anyways they close tight but the door handle side just touches the gasket. As for the 237 in a long hood truck that old 71 RS700L I drove years ago was set up the same as this manual steering and a 237 hooked to a straight 5 speed pretty much an identical truck and superdog is correct now that I think about it most of Harry Kuhns R models had a plate on the glove box stating it was built for him
  18. Its missing one of the RS700L emblems I am going to have to find one for it.
  19. It has the cleanest engine compartment by far of all the trucks I looked over I couldn't buy any of the others until I was sure I wasn't going to get this one and it worked out for the better. The 1971 RS700L lowboy tractor I drove in the 80s had this truck custom built for John Yazel on the horn button as well as the R models Harry Kuhn had all read this truck custom built for Harry W. Kuhn..
  20. Wonder what happened to the mixer trailers harry used to use on paving jobs.
  21. I have a few things to do like new paint I figure I can repaint it in late spring tomorrow I will clean up the interior real good.
  22. Paint is not original I think it might have been an off white I can see where the red on the door stops and the white takes over the interior is white too.after the state got done with me tax, title and DOC it was 8300.
