Looks like we could have a couple options for the V8 emblem. Resin cast for one which could be painted any number of colors, maybe a bright silver metallic? perhaps with an offset colored inset, then cleared. Looking at about $100 to create the mold to cast them, then around $15 each, unpainted.
Another option will be CNC machined aluminum which could be chromed. Cost probably at least $60 if done in qtys of at least 25 ish. Both would be made to accept threaded studs.
If you have a sample available would be great. What kind of demand do you foresee? What models were these used on and what is the mounting position, hood side?

Got more done today Im going with 3/4 inch LED clearance lights so I used a hole saw and got those all taken care of and where the I cut insets into the front panel where it gets close to the stacks and welded some sheet metal in to give the rolled edge some support I slobbered a bit of brown paint on the raw metal to keep the rust from forming.

I really don't know Al I know ALF uses detroits in their trucks but 48 seems kind of early on.

I thought consolidated diesel made the 10 ton M123 unless they moved that radiator back to accommodate that Detroit you would be pretty hard pressed to stuff a 903 in there. Those do look like 1400X20 tires though which they did run on the 123s those trucks are over width not easily ran down the road Im used to seeing the huge winch usually behind the cab.

Its not stock they came with a turbo charged six from the factory both side panels have been changed and the stock air cleaner was on the passenger side fender originally.

Maybe its the cynic in me but the country of manufacture is not listed on the box and the fine print says new parts may or may not be in the original box you know what the old saying is if it seems to good to be true just saying be careful.

Just like always news hounds blowing everything way out of proportion spreading panic so they can talk about it for days on end. How about all you guys 55 and older did you ever see news people waiting on overpasses for a snow storm on TV when you were a kid if they predicted 4-8 we all went to bed and just dealt with it the next day. We had an ice storm here in northern IL in 1965 I have never seen one like it since us people living out in the country were out of power for weeks we cooked our meals over the fire in the fire place now they would be calling the national guard to rescue the poor unfortunate people who couldn't get out to their favorite restaurant to eat.

I was always partial to the small V8 caterpillars never had much use for detroits I guess its just personal preference small cats are good engines they got a bad rap when they were put into trucks that were just to big hauling more weight than they were designed for.

Yea looks cool and it doesn't look to hard to build.

The bed goes to the sand blasters next week I decided to split the tailgate down the center and make it fold out like doors on a dry van. I will weld hinges to the rear uprights and go from there I will use cane bolts to lock each side individually and I will weld a piece of flat stock on one door to overlap the other like a dry van. Went down to the recyclers Saturday and bought some new road signs that were sitting there the backs will polish up like a mirror for the inserts between the ribs on the sides.

I just sent a picture of the emblem to the guy making my custom shift knob for my RS he does excellent work I have bought his products before he even makes custom knobs to go on the dash of the truck for charging the trailer and tractor air systems. I told him if he were interested in making them I may be able to dig up an example for a pattern depending what they would cost to produce he may be able to cast them in gold or silver colored resin I will report back when I get a response from him.

Wonder what ever happened to those Johnston grain farms MHs I used to see running around our neck of the woods years ago.
-
The guy who did most of the trucks around here died years ago and took his artistic talents with him.
-
With the proliferation of do it fast do I want it done now the art of hand lettering has gone by the wayside I am considering lettering my RS myself I have learned gunstock making and engraving myself so this should be a fun project. Its all design and proportion and some artistic talent I have not decided whether to letter my truck in western style or circus lettering.
