  1. Its still in good shape, runs amazing, hopefully truck shows will return up here . I want to take it to the odd show . The 2 stick 6 speed is pretty rare around here. So its interesting for a lot of folks. Its still on the road so I take it for little tours on quiet days .
  2. I had said the same thing, our guy was just a younger version of yours .
  3. Im retired from snowplowing. 2019 was the last year. The county wanted trucks no older than 10 years old. That would have put me into emission bull. There was no way I was signing on for that. My RD ran the same runs for 20 years and never let me down once .
  4. It depends on who you ask if Canada suffered. According to liberals and main stream media , Canada has never seen anything so bad. Heres another video for you to make your own decision . This guy has been there from the beginning , and showed what was really happening on the ground. It's 16 minutes or so , if you don't watch the entire thing , at least watch from 6 minutes to around 8 min. or so. I actually get emotional watching it because main stream media and the liberal government portrayed everyone as racist and terrorist . What is actually happening is the total opposite . It really bothers me that they can lie like that and get away with it . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6JcL534BIU Ooo........ and no, we don't want Jeraldo. and can I come live in North Carolina? lol . I will bring some cool Macks
  5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUYNDBRHvwE You can watch and decide . You expressed yourself very well. I've wanted to reply to this thread but I'm not very good at putting the things that rattle around in my head into words. I'm definitely with you , I really don't like the direction we are going. Maybe you could lead the conservatives , you got my vote , lol
  6. Just for fun, the dimensions of the air filter on my 1987 International ...... Overall width - 3 inches Diameter of inside hole - 1 3/8 inches Thickness - 1 3/8 inches
  7. This is the filter my international takes. I never thought, but I could measure its width, depth for you . If its the same size you could cross the Kralinator number over to Napa . Thanks for telling us the filter was there. I was really curious myself.
  8. The show you mean " Heavy rescue 401" based on the 400 series highways in southern Ontario. I actually don't like the show. I see those tow trucks around , and there not all scavengers waiting to go in for the kill. But some of them definitely are. I find it sickening heavy tows racing to an accident. Not because they care about the people in the accident , they want the big $$ tow. Short answer to" is the highway that bad for wrecks" . In any bad weather and due to the quality of truck drivers we have now , I try to avoid that highway as much as I possibly can . To be truthful ..... the 401 scares me , lol As for my snowplow. I used to use it year around and take the harness off in the summer. It doesn't have a 5 th wheel, but I used to pull a tag along trailer behind it. It used to have a dump box on it , but the years of salt rotted it out. So I removed the box and use big concrete blocks as ballast. I didn't need the dump anyway. My job was always to plow only , I never salted or sanded.
  9. I looked through that maintenance manual , it had no info on it other than what I posted. So I went to an even older maintenance manual. I was able to find this . Its interesting to me because I have only seen a couple V8 Macks in my life so I had no idea they had that clip on air filter. My International S series has the same one . I actually didn't know it was supposed to be changed at every oil change .
  10. I can't really add anything here. But looking through my Lub and maintenance book there is a note at the bottom of one of the pages that I think should apply to your E9. Its about an air filter element for the compressor . My book is from 1986.
  11. What a great idea for a topic. I find it very interesting . Mine is pretty simple . It comes from my 85 Mack RD685, that I call the "Snowdog" . Its name is on the hood.
  12. Think this pic borrowed from the inter web is appropriate here ...... sadly, becoming the norm
  13. Thats perfect ! your registration and paperwork should say R611T4533. Thats all. R611 I think ? 250 hp mack engine. Hopefully someone corrects if I'm wrong. T is for tractor designation and your truck was the 3533 r611 built . Hopefully someone smarter than me can fine tune the numbers , lol
  14. 17 digit vins started in 1980. Before that it was model and engine numbers followed by the sequential number the truck was built starting at 1000 ? I think ? Theres threads on vin numbers. I will try to find one and post. Your vin should be where Jojo said. Right frame rail behind steer tire. Should also have a plate inside the drivers door.
  15. Cool truck and video. I never had much to do with a Transtar , but I have a lot of miles on its little brother the Loadstar .
  16. 67RMODEL described the 2 stick better than I could . They are a great trans. I agree with him . The 85 R looks the most interesting. Like he said , as long as the frame is ok.
  17. Congratulations on your retirement !! I agree with you 100% on the generation of waste. Nothing is designed to last. Nothing at all. LOL, don't worry about your rambling , after 50 years of changes to the industry , your entitled to vent . Im able to keep my old R models running nicely but I probably couldn't even change a headlight in a new truck .
  18. LOL, that save the world Technology , I can handle . Todays Technology ............ no thanks . I will run my old reliable stuff till I retire or the government makes me park it.
  19. Your right Jojo, the relay has no air to it when the parking brakes are applied. When the brakes are released (yellow button in ) it sends air to the relay valve. Thats why its important to chalk the tires and release the brakes when you get a smoke test done . I'm sure you know this , but could be very handy info for someone that's new to older Macks. I love the Superliner dump you posted. Looks too good to use . Thanks again for the pics Pic of the small hole that's on the bottom of the reversing relay
  20. That looks amazing ! I like the colours of the superliner. I wish you lived closer, I have an E6 that could use your professional touch. Thanks very much for the pics !!
  21. Sounds like a cool project. If the owner is ok with it ? maybe you could share some of the progress.
  22. I'm sure you know this already Vlad, but if your experimenting with older relay valves. They are designed to leak a small amount of air, out a weep hole on the bottom side of it. I found this out the hard way. Buying a new one to leak the same as the old one did. lol The pic below is out of an R model owners manual.
  23. I agree 100 %. Its the guy that says he knows it all is the one you have to watch out for 😀
  24. In a thread a while back you asked about the reversing relay in a superliner you were working on. Rather than sidetrack that thread I wanted to try to help. You may have already sorted what you need . If you did, no problem , this may help others . I want to start by saying I'm no expert and most on here know way more than I will ever know. Any info I know came from BMT. It's great. I have found through trial and error that the relay valve changes the trucks performance a lot . There has been a lot of threads about them in the past . This one is useful , https://www.bigmacktrucks.com/topic/47110-puff-limiter/#comment-347471 Theres different relays for different motors . They all have a part # that ends with a number followed by an "X" like "5X" . That number is stamped on the end of the relay valve. The smaller the number the higher the rpm before it fuels . That's to keep the smoke to a minimum . A 5x or 6x will fuel at a lower rpm similar to a good ole 237. I think 237 came with a 5x from factory , but not 100% sure. They go as high as "10x" I think? The 350 your working on would have a 3x I think ? There is a "CX" too. I have tried it on every truck and decided the best spot for it is on the shelf. Truck has to be at 1700 or so before it kicks in. I put a 6 x on my 350 4V . It worked really good but smoked more than I liked. I didn't want any trouble from the smoke police, lol . So my solution was an electric solenoid in the supply line to the relay. I run a 3x. My truck works great and I'm not afraid of a cop behind me, and when I want to have fun or some bottom end power, I flick a switch on the dash. I love it. A lot of the guys used air valves to do the same thing. Remember that the relay is only half of it. The number of shims in the rack limiting cylinder on the pump is very important to. Theres info on that in the link provided. Heres a pic . You can see the new blue line to the relay. It should really be black so it doesn't stand out but that's all I had the day I did it , lol . Hope it helps a little .
