  1. All are still working and took pics of them 2 weeks ago... The last pic of the rd was taken 6 years ago. It is a glider kit. 2v 300-6spd. Great truck. The gray truck is a ford l9000. the owner is who gave me my start in a r model. . He now has a ch,Pete, and fords.
  2. been working part time for a friend with a lowboy
  3. just a thought... Is your coolant level low? if it is water might not be able to get to the heater core being that it is one of the highest points the coolant flows to... if its topped off it has to be a bad valve or blockage. does that water pump have a nipple on it that is capped off or is there another nipple you can plumb into?. you might be able to run a hose right off the pump and see if that corrects the heat?
  4. low temp in one hole can be many things. Bad valves, low compression, bad injector, anything that will not allow that hole to fire as strong as the others.
  5. That's the world record diesel 1/4 mile run. One of the fabricators at my work was involved in this project. You can see him in the video. I want to say its based off a dt466
  6. First find out what rear ratio you have. Or let us know what trans you have and we can suggest a ratio.. There were a lot of options but some will not work well depending on your transmission. Did you want more hi way speed or were you happy with the current top end?
  7. If the shaft hits the housing then it's worn or broken bushing and seals shot. Find a new turbo before it snaps the shaft, runs away on the oil, leaves you stranded,or all of the above..black smoke is likely that you have no boost. The puff limiter needs to see about 15psi if I remember correctly to give full fuel. The limiter just delays delivery. Once it's spooled up and above 15psi your foot controls the fuel amount. If you can't build more than 15 psi or the puff is unhooked it will be dumping to much fuel with to little boost. That's where the black comes from. As for white that can be oil or poorly burned fuel.
  8. I think Mack out sourced all sleeper installs . My truck had a crawl in 36" bunk. They just screwed the boot right to the rear wall of the cab around the windows frame. When. Bought the truck the sleeper was removed. Luckily it was done well as I was able to weld those holes up and sand it smooth. Now I want to install the sleeper and don't want to put holes back in it...
  9. Normaly it's just 3 points of contact. The bell housing has one each side and the front of engine has one. This allows the frame to twist and not brake mounts or the block, trans case etc...
  10. ok so what kind of destruction did a 7 ton projectile do? Was it just a slug or did it have some kind of explosive attached to it. i would have to think it would go thru about 10 buildings if it had the right angle but they all seam to be aimed at the sky, that tells me it was likely coming back down at a steep angle?? intresting stuff
  11. When you say bent is it worn to the point that it can touch the housing or do you just feel a little free play? can you tell id any oil is leaking out the exhaust side or intake side? I put a turbo on my truck from a junk blown engine . cost me less than $50. lots of the old engines just sitting around. hard part is finding one that was not kept out in the rain with the boot off the turbo so water did not get in.
  12. thats actualy a good idea Vlad! would have never guessed that.. I just dont want to drill into my cab. its almost 35 years old and is in great shape.
  13. Hmmm Gurnee Il is about 15 mins from me I see that was Dec1st...looks like my bridal party but I dont recall the snow....!!!
  14. Thanks for that list. those are popular mack transmissions Did you happen to add up the Quad and 6 speed? those were pretty popular as well. Still have to have my 12 speed installed so I can get to and from the show a little faster!
  15. Yep has a Cat motor in it. It was for sale last year and I looked at it. nice truck, had a little rust in normal spots and the alum frame was cut and welded at one point.
  16. Spoke to him a few weeks back. He has been busy and I told him we all miss him over here. He says hello to all..
  17. All I can say is that when I saw it the whole truck looked restored. Grantedit was dark out but I saw no rust, and lots of tasteful stainless add ons.tires were good polished aluminum. If the frame still had good paint, engine was strong, trans and rear ends were not leaking and were rebuilt when the glider kit was bought then I would say 25k would be a damm good price for it.
  18. 28 sounds right. My older 285 will push 25psi and near 30 when cold weather.
  19. It may help if you put heat stickers on the drums. They do this with race cars to see if they are all reaching the correct temp. You will not get a good reading if you have to stop,Jump out and take a reading off the drums. The temps will drop fairly quick in the cold....Its more important that they all reach say 300 deg under a normal loaded stop. If 3 corners hit 300 but one corner is 600 then you know one is grabbing harder. Also test when the truck is loaded, limited wind and warm weather. This will give you more accurate readings.
  20. Looks like custom made wood.
  21. Just clips onto the r models rear window channel?
  22. Yep saw that down in a west va truck stop a few months back. 30k would be a fair asking price IMO. Looked like it was brand new front to back...
  23. The old Mack ( dog ) was at the in laws. He spent the whole day with Sarah and the girls getting ready. I wish he could talk or at least take pics. God knows what he saw.... The redhead is married to a neighborhood friend. She is a trooper. Real down to earth and makes me look like a little school girl when we're out drinking.
