  1. Since you are trying to get your CDL and everything you do is being supervised try and shift around 1500+-50 rpm 1450-1550 rpm. You will eventually be able to shift without touching the clutch( except when starting out).Get the double clutching down, get the CDL and then move ahead. Remember if you try and shift with the rpm too high it is not going to come out of gear for you.It goes into gear best as the rpm is falling so you will have to run it up some.If you can't get it into gear run the rpm up again and try again. Make a note of when it went in and notice the enjine sound too. Hope this helps!

  2. I am by no means a mechanic, but you have failed to mention the differences in transmissions and gear ratios. Gear ratios in the rear ends and the horsepower ratings of each respective engine. I am just trying to help you find a less costly solution to your problem. You may find changing the rears or transmission may allow you to work in a more comfortable environment and allow you to reduce your fuel costs.

  3. THE ADJUSTMENT YOU SEEK TO DO MAY BE FIXABLE FROM UNDER THE TRUCK AND NOT THE FLOOR PLAN DOWN.I TRY NEVER TO MESS WITH SOMETHING Unless Iam ready to redo the entire thing. Remember these are old trucks and parts may be brittle and ready to break. You might as well go to walmart and buy a case of spray lubricant. I have fooled with so many frozen bolts and nuts the I give up immediately and grab the lubricant.

  4. Run the rpm up. remember it goes into gear as the rpm drops. how much weight is on the rear frame does it have a fifth wheel, I have been driving big trucks for 17 years. When I get into my 615 its a different world. you arent goin to get this down by watching videos or down in a couple of days either.dont force it either unless you have unlimited funds. it just goes to show you the quality of drivers in days gone by.

  5. I got passed by a tanker last summer. He had the cap off the passenger side fuel tank. The fuel nozzle with about two feet of hose was sticking out of the open tank.Do you ever watch the news and see some bad truck wrecks? The public doesnt appreciate a safe well paid truck driver until a disaster hits their own family. These guys who drive and get paid the same as Mcdonalds employees arent doing anyone a favor.
