  2. Financial Times / June 13, 2025 Israel’s strikes against Iran have threatened to ignite a regional conflict that disrupts oil supplies across the Middle East, with traders reviving the decades-old question of whether Tehran could respond by closing the vital industry chokepoint at the Strait of Hormuz. Brent crude, the global benchmark, surged 12% to a high of $78.5 in the early hours of Friday morning after Israel launched dozens of strikes against Iran’s nuclear program and military facilities, killing at least two top commanders. Prices fell back to $75 a barrel as it became clear that Israel [at the request of the US and Saudi Arabia] had stopped short of targeting Iran’s oil infrastructure, but prices could move significantly higher depending on how Tehran retaliates. The market is reasonably calm because the Israelis chose not to target oil infrastructure, but if you’re Iran, you know that’s the Achilles heel. They could attack oil facilities in the Gulf or tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. About 21 millionn barrels of oil from Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates pass daily through the narrow waterway separating the Islamic republic from the Gulf states, representing a third of the world’s seaborne oil supplies. Iran has repeatedly threatened to close the strait in the event of an attack. Tehran could launch attacks on tankers to disrupt traffic, as it did during the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s. However, that would also disrupt the more than 1 million barrels a day that Iran exports to China. When Iran and Israel exchanged air strikes in April and October 2024, it was Iran that struck first with Israel retaliating. This time, the sequence has reversed — a shift that could significantly influence market expectations and risk perceptions. If Iran disrupts oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz, targets regional oil infrastructure or strikes US military assets, it could push oil up above $100. Equally, Israel could escalate its assault by targeting Iran’s vital Kharg Island terminals, which are responsible for 90% of Iran’s oil exports and the primary source of income.
  3. Oil is spiking $5 because Israel has launched attacks on Iran. Oil futures shot higher and U.S. stock-market futures sank Thursday evening on reports that Israel was attacking sites in Iran, raising new fears of an all-out conflict in the Middle East. Explosions were reportedly heard in Tehran. “In the wake of the state of Israel’s preventive attack against Iran, missile and drone attacks against Israel and its civilian population are expected immediately,” Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz said. Nuclear and military sites were being targeted. .

  5. Yes, Southeastern's Cummins-powered U-models were in-line.
  6. The US has begun evacuating non-essential personnel and family members from its embassies and military bases in the Middle East, in light of escalating tensions with Iran. https://www.breitbart.com/middle-east/2025/06/12/iaea-declares-iran-breach-nuclear-obligations-first-time-nearly-20-years/

  8. This tells me the Democrats rigged the E-Verify system, and/or........who provided the fake IDs? U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raided the Glenn Valley Foods meat production plant in Omaha, Nebraska and detained 75-80 illegal immigrants. Glenn Valley Foods said it was surprised by the raid and had followed the rules regarding immigration status. Company president Chad Hartmann said the plant used E-Verify, a federal database used for checking employees' immigration status. When he said this to a federal agent, the agent responded "the system is broken." Local police in Omaha were informed by immigration officials about the raid in advance. Federal agents had a warrant that said they had identified 107 people who they believed were using fraudulent documents. This was the largest worksite enforcement operation in Nebraska under the Trump Administration. ICE said a criminal investigation was ongoing into what immigration officials called a large-scale employment of immigrants who are present in the U.S. illegally. “U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and federal law enforcement partners, executed a federal search warrant at Glenn Valley Foods, based on an ongoing criminal investigation into the large-scale employment of aliens without authorization to work in the United States.” Watch the video..........barbarians showing their true colors. They are nothing more than economic migrants who criminally entered the country to milk it. Their allegiance remains with their home countries. It's never been their goal to become Americans....adopting the American way of life. Beware the Trojan Horse scenario. Western Europe is plagued with crime and cultural destruction owing to the economic migrants who illegally entered. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14799709/nebraska-ice-raids-bystanders-jump-vans.html
  9. It has a chrome dog, and thus a vendor engine. If I had to guess, a U747ST with a 350 Cummins.
  10. Financial Times / June 10, 2024 Toyota and Germany’s Daimler Truck have finalized an estimated $6.4bn merger of their heavy truck businesses in Japan in response to growing competition from Chinese rivals racing ahead on electrification and autonomous driving technology. The deal brings together Toyota unit Hino Motors with Daimler Truck subsidiary Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus. It creates a Japanese commercial truck powerhouse that sells more than 200,000 units annually and has greater scale to invest in hydrogen trucks and buses. The merger comes as the global commercial truck industry undergoes a rapid transition towards electric and hydrogen-powered drivetrains and autonomous driving, with China taking the lead. Characterized by long driving ranges, heavy loads and short refueling times, trucking is viewed as a crucial sector for Toyota to create a large market for its hydrogen fuel cells, as cleaner passenger car transport has become dominated by battery-powered electric vehicles. Robin Zeng, the billionaire behind China’s battery champion CATL, forecast last month that half of new trucks sold in China in three years’ time would be electric, underlining the upheaval coming for the heavy truck market. “By bringing together two strong partners, we will create an even more powerful company and advance decarbonisation in transportation,” said Daimler Truck chief executive Karin Rådström. “Scale is the key to winning in the technological transformation of our industry.” The combined entity, led by Mitsubishi Fuso CEO Karl Deppen, divides Japan’s commercial truck manufacturing into two main camps, with Isuzu Motors dominating the other. Toyota and Daimler Truck, the world’s largest truck manufacturer, will hold equal stakes of 25 percent in the holding company, but the Japanese vehicle maker’s voting rights will be lower at 19.9 percent. Jefferies analysts estimate the equity value of the combined entity to be €5.6bn at 11 times earnings before interest and taxes. After a preliminary merger agreement was reached in May 2023, the deal was postponed in February 2024 following an engine data falsification scandal at Hino. At the start of this year, Hino agreed a $1.2bn settlement with the US authorities, leading the truck unit to a record net loss but helping to pave the way for the merger. Since the deal was first announced, both companies have lost ground in the truck market and US tariffs on imports have added to the challenges faced by commercial vehicle manufacturers. The sealing of the deal comes at a time of big upheaval for Toyota, as the world’s largest carmaker prepares to take part in the $33bn take-private of Toyota Industries, one of its key suppliers. Alongside the deal, Hino will transfer ownership of the Hamura plant to Toyota Motor for ¥150bn ($1bn). The merger also adds to the growing collaboration between Japan and Germany on hydrogen. The two companies aim to list the holding company in Japan and start operations by April next year.
  11. We have two enemies. We have the outside enemy, and then we have the enemy from within, and the enemy from within, in my opinion, is more dangerous than China, Russia and all these countries. We have some very bad people. We have some sick people. Radical left lunatics I think it should be very easily handled by, if necessary, by national guard, or if really necessary, by the military, because they can’t let that happen. Donald Trump October 2024

  14. I thought that Roadway had Detroit engines, whereas as Lexington, South Carolina-based Southeastern had Cummins, what with Cummins being popular in the Carolinas.
  15. Southeastern Freight Lines has hundreds of Cummins-powered U-700s. They were continually pleased with them.
  16. Tom Homan says the raids that sparked the violent LA riots were not for immigration purposes. Homan explained that the raids that took place in downtown LA on Friday were part of a criminal investigation into a money laundering scheme and cartel activity. 'It wasn’t an immigration raid. It was to service of three criminal warrants at locations based on a large criminal conspiracy that ICE is investigating,' Homan said.
