The good news is he is well. The bad news is he is very busy. Hopefully he will soon see some light at end of tunnel and we will benefit from his views.

If you go to You Tube...4142M Concrete Mixer Truck (2019)...there is a video that shows the steps/grab handle system. Steps are all perforated so they are not "mud/snow" catchers. Looks pretty good-for a LCF. And there is even a guy attempting to explain things in English!

if that thing is anything like the sterling sweeper we just got rid of, it will be a royal pain in the asterisk to get in and out of.
and it looks an awful lot like the sterling cab style.
No connection- your Sterling cab was an earlier generation Ford Cargo cab. I don't think there is anything in this cab that is a carry over from that early Cargo. Not that any LCF has good cab access/egress vs a conventional😎

Looking at that truck reminds me of one of the MANY reasons I am grateful I don't live in Europe.
Looking at that truck says to me the Europeans haven't discovered the huge advantage front discharge mixers have over rear discharge. Rear discharge has its place where on a big project , the mixer backs up to the hopper on a pump truck and drops the entire load.

I think they have a lot of well placed grab handles if my memory is right. Of course never seen one but have seen quite a few videos

So when they hit something, the bumper would not go into the tire and flatten it.
I do believe that was the primary reason-hit something like a deer at 55 MPH!

I wonder if any Mack historians know why the C Model Mack was ever produced. The B model was done in 1965-66. and the U &R models came started in 1965-66. It seems as though Mack was trying to use up B model parts and L cabs. The L cab should have been utilized more on the B's to compete with Whites A Car drivers cab.
When I sit in an L cab I say..."and what was the advantage of a B cab?" Oh yeah-it was more aerodynamic!

I think I read on here once that it was to help meet BBC requirements for over all length restrictions. It was the predecessor to the U model
wasn't C -600 same BBC as a B-67?

No clue what the breakdown is but assuming the 17.5 rate at 80,000 and say a MPG figure of 6 that translates into an added cost of $1.05 per gallon! Brilliant! to say nothing of the administrative cost associated with tracking miles and filing

poppop: You and I have similar memories. I grew up in Illinois but then moved east to Connecticut.
Back then I think White was just as popular as Mack.
Well you and Npoppop will also then remember Adley.."A Mighty Servant That Never Sleeps", Wooster, Holmes, St.Johnsbury.
Whites?-how about Shusters.

I thought I remembered him having an auction and in the process of relocating from VA to Maine. This was after a hassle from the local govt types about his proposed housing for veterans.
Harry I think it was the other way around. I think his veteran's project was in Maine )-Gorham area- and the locals were giving him a hard time.
