youd be surprised the number of profressional drivers using gps we pulled out of seasonal road, farm trails and SNOWMOBILE trails this past winter from their gps tellin them that was the way to go. in the towing business, stupid pays...... my personal favorite is out small town right off the thruway, with a tight four way intersection with an alternate truck route with many signs sayin TRUCKS NO TURNS and even Jersey barriers on the corners. they still do it. just last week they caught a guy after he got on the thruway at exit 29 and headed west with a jersey barrier stuck under the trailer..... and he still claimed he didn't make the sharp turn in town and get it stuck. ..

Are you talking about the intersection near the Gerber plant?

  2. I remember Nashua had  a couple R models. One in particular was dressed really sharp. Alum front wheels, visor full bumper.  I was told a story about Holmes a long time ago that they had a couple trucks with fuel stickers for the east coast. When they needed to send another Mack south they just swapped the doors so the other truck had the fuel stickers. Don't know if its true or not

  3. If your Cruiseliner is 24 volt then there is a rather heavy gage wire coming off the right side battery box that powers the cab.  At least that's how my "eastcoast" Cruiseliner is wired. My "westcoast" built cruiseliner is 12 volt. I can go and try to follow the cab power supply if that helps.  The power wire I'm talking about is the same gage as a starter wire on a lawnmower.   I dont have much in the way of wireing diagrams but I do own 2 Cruiseliners. I'm more than happy to look at mine and tell ya how there wired. Good luck

a 4020 did not have an especially robust rear-end. I'm thinking it was a conversation piece only. The Detroit repower's were somewhat common, but as everyone knows, the torque on that Mack would break that JD's back in tough ground.

The 5020 series were well known for their extremely strong gear cases. In fact there are articles written about them and there legendary strength.  Kinzie made a kit to install 8V71 or 855 Cummins when these tractors were new. It was a hold over from the 2 Cylinder days of high tourque impact from the fireing of just 2 cylinders. Remember these are the same engineers of the 2 cylinder era who designed the "First Generation" John Deeres.  I will look for the article and post it if I can figure out how to.   But a 318 HP Detroit or 350 HP Cummins installed back in the late 60's and still working toady is a testament to strength and durability. A 4020 had the same stamina but its not rated for that engine for sure.  The 5000 series was a much bigger tractor. This being said we all know of 175 or 200 HP 4020's earning there keep

  5. Williams Diesel in Ocala, Fl are the Small diesel Guru's.   Have a 03 with a 7.3 they chipped for us. Has 310,00 on it now.  Just put  3 injectors in it. same turbo. Truck pulls 38' Gooseneck all the time.  2 high pressure oil pumps, not sure why, 1 water pump, 1 radiator. The truck just goes & goes. Suppose to be @ 425 H.P. been this way since it had 30,000 on it. Gets @ 15 MPG

Just a shot in the dark but I'm looking for a new passenger side windshield for this Astro. Glass companies are having a tough time finding one but I don't think it's going to be something in an online inventory.

There's probably some around but they are probably forgotten in the back of a warehouse somewhere.

Manchester Auto glass 603 622 6737. They have been a huge help for our Cabover fleet.  As for parts,  Buy a parts truck. Online, ebay. Some things are available at a "Good" dealer.

WS 721 you are looking at a different truck! I'm referring to the silver Gray coe pulling the set of pups, also is shown in a black and white photo! Thunderbird Frt lines! I've driven several 9670s I'm not too old to remember what they look like!

Ok. Now I see the pic your talking about.  That would be a cool Transtar to have in the collection

  8. My 8 yr old Son watches that show. Its his favorite show.  I like Jamie Davis & some of his crew. However, if I were up there and needed help you bet id be calling Al Quirring. From an O/O standpoint he seems much more reasonable.
