The "Wispering Giant" I believe Mack called the E9. Heard my first E9 back in 1988. Ran along side for miles. Got hooked then & there. Never sounds like they're working. Just kinda lumbering along

no,that was the standard interior for the Cruiseliner
So is that "Level 1" or "Level 2" interior? Or didn't Mack offer 3 levels in early Cruiseliners?

Are those cab lights correct?

The only manual is here at BMT and it is all the guy's knowledge. This is why this site is what it is. The information is stored in the minds of men that have worked on these now old trucks. It is information that is slowly becoming obsolete along with all the old iron. A transplant with a totally mechanical engine can be done but you better know someone or have someone do it if you don't know how. Better to buy a Superliner with an E9 in it already. It is not just the engine needed but, bigger radiator, intercooler, possibly clutch and transmission to consider. Not to mention all the brackets, hoses and tubing needed. Just finding all the parts needed will take years to accumulate to actually do it right. The cost of all this extra stuff will be more than a good running take out E9 then add labor that will not be cheap if you can find someone willing to do it. One thing for sure is everything is real big, heavy, greasy, dirty and rusty to work with and not a beginner mechanic's first project. Hope it happens though
Well said!! You gotta be real handy or have a handy friends. and then youre going to buy a LOT of beer

Had a guy call me yesterday needing parts for an older Mack,(2002)because dealer said parts were NLA,wiring harness for ECM. Guess I'm going to have to start making room for CX's in the back yard, now.
Try getting parts for a Cruiseliner with an E9 in it. Thankfully the local Mack parts folks try to be helpful

Lota tyre to air up
Super-sized
What then was said to be the largest tank semi-trailer ever built for highway service was operating in Michigan 45 years ago. The 17,000-gallon Super Tanker gasoline transporter featured 11 axles, with three capable of lifting for better maneuverability. The tanker, powered by an International tractor, boasted the maximum length (55 feet), height (13½ feet), weight (152,000 pounds) and axles (11) allowed at the time, and cost $75,000.

Wonder how many times the driver caught his foot on the rubber guard over the steer tire

You all know what Swift stands for don't ya?
See What I F@#ked up Today
Sure Wish I had a Fast Truck
Sure Wish I finished Training
Whats Swift in reverse? Two Fags In White Semi. Now im sure the P.C. crowd will be upset at that last one, but its still funny. Told my boss where I drive part time after we got new KW's with ISX 500 that they are SO slow. He ask "how slow are they?" I said that in 30 years of driving I had a first with these KW's. I got to see the right side of a Swift truck as it passed me up hill!!!

i am talking about a one ton pickup with 8 foot plow not fitting.
i many areas of nu yawk, it is not uncommon to see cars and trucks with mirrors ripped off or worse because the fire trucks and garbage trucks can not fit down the street. so they make room by wiping the sides off the cars parked on both sides of the street.
here in my town, many roads are only 14 foot wide. if someone illegally parks on the road you can not pass with anything larger than a pickup.......WITHOUT a plow on it
Ouch! That stinks. I remember my Uncle who was on the Hartford, Ct fire Dept saying that would happen. Tire chains with a broken cross chains ripping open cars

With wings that tuck in close to the truck I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't fit. If in fact they don't then send a 1 ton truck

I just don't understand big plow trucks without wing plows - it's such a waste. I also don't get those tipper salt spreaders - they seem unsafe.
Maybe with todays "Steering Wheel holders" they don't dare put wings on em?

WOW!! That's something to see. I remember my father saying that back when he worked for Watkins Construction in the 60's running a scraper was refered to as running the Idiot wagon. Looks like they have come a long way. He was lucky, he ran a B81 on lowbed or belly dump

Well it's still for sale. I decided not to do it. It has far too many issues to make it worth it to me. It would be a good truck for someone that does restorations but I need something that can go to work and be picked at as I go.
Went through it all and basically that is all it is, a perfect interior on good tires and back brakes.
They even wanted me to pull the insert out of the frame. It doesn't look bad to me, I can't see any scale or rust jacking, but they told me they won't safety it because it is rotten.
So between that, a blown head gasket, and all the electrical and small stuff and paint and the stuff I knew it needed, just more than I wanna do.
Wow!! Glad I don't live where you are. Most of the trucks around here would be in trouble.

You have a rare gem there. I would very much like to have that interior for some of my projects. Biggest draw back to those is the electrical system. I have a few books on 9670,s if ya get in a spot

Low mileage RD dump trucks
in Trucks for Sale
Posted
Guess I missed the issue. Central Hydraulics like most any other plow truck. When they get to be 20 years old then your chasseing rusty hose ends. Ive seen people buy a truck to turn into a plow truck. The truck is the cheap part. Its the Hydraulics that is expensive
