18913 oil line question

I bought a Mack bell for my 18913.  Only problem is the bell doesn't have provisions for the oil line around the front of transmission case.

Can I remove the extra oil line without tearing into the whole transmission?

I have machining possibilities for adding pockets in my new bell but since it is aluminum and not cast for the groove it may break through.

I assumed this bell would work but not having any experience I didn't think about this oil line.  I know it isn't really needed in my application.

Any thoughts?

Unfortunately no. That case is drilled for the halo so the best thing to do is find a bell housing that has the halo groove cut into it.You can use a halo cut bell housing on a non halo transmission,  but obviously you cant do the opposite

The last cast iron one i bought for a rtlo18918b with a halo cut nodal mount bell housing was around $400.

Also, if you ho from aluminum to cast iron or vice versa,  you need to change out the mounting bolts because they are a different length.

@Freightrain im thinking the one you're after is eaton fuller # K-3675. That is the cast iron version with halo (forced lube) and nodal mounts for a Mack and K-3674 is the aluminum version and expensive. Also, the crossshaft is below center which are usually harder to find. K-3672 is drilled for both above and below centerline,  so it should would too if need be.

remind us again, are going for a pull or push clutch? I remember we went through that when we last talked about it. The hole for the push clutch below the shaft is different than the one for a pull clutch below the shaft, that much I do remember.

Your trans is much newer than anything I am familiar  with.

I also remember from somewhere (could be wrong) that the tube was for pulling hard up a steep grade, the oil would go to the back and starve the bearings. Not something I think you'll encounter

I can covert to pull.

I just didn't pay attention to the fact that the tube made things different.  The gasket hid the machining on the original bell so I didn't take into account.  The gasket is the same, the tube just breaks through the gasket as you tighten it.  At least on the transmission I have.  Unless they changed it and just used a std gasket?  I don't know.

I will make it all work.

Searched around for a used bell to no avail.  I ended up getting a new K3672 from VanderHaags.  Should be here in a few days.

Saw some listed for well over $1000.  Got it for $670.
