If the miles also stopped counting, it maybe is the speed sensor on the back of the transmission, about where the drive shaft comes out. bulldog52 Posted July 24, 2016 Share Posted July 24, 2016 We have a 97 ch that does this on occasion. Sometimes it works fine and sometimes it only shows 20-30 mph. I've tried replacing the speed sensor, made sure the tone ring wasn't loose, and set the distance between the sensor and the ring and it's still acting up.
