Strait 5-speed need's a gear installed it's a pain but can do .....but need the % for the pump for ratio fast or slow ?

TRL 107; are you sure there's no gear installed on the countershaft for a PTO?  Why would there be a SAE opening on the transmission?

  2. OK, thanks.  Seems like anyone I talk to asks "What year and model?".  Maxitorque 5 speed.... "What's that?"  Maybe someone here has some insight that applies to my question.

  3. I want to put a PTO hydraulic pump on the (8 hole) access space to provide power to an hydraulic winch.  The 5-speed tranny has straight-cut gears., so just want to know where/what to look for.  I'd rather have the PTO-pump unit rather than a pump bolted onto a  pto shaft.  I know there are lots of these type units available, just looking for someone who KNOWS what I'm looking for.

  4. It is not the original 673.  It is the EDNT 673C, 250 hp Turbo, mated to a five speed trans.  Seems to have lots of torque at 1100-1200, never really lugged it down to stall.  Just wondering how it compared with the Maxi from anyone's experience.

    gudday m8

to winch on a D8 up ramps is a big ask

U either pull the truck backwards or brake something

U would need to run the winch cable thru snatchblocks etc

best to have a nother machine to push the D8 up ramps = lot easier and quicker

Thanks Swishy;  I would think a 30-40k winch would pull it up the ramps?  Cat runs ok but too scary to try and back it up ramps, coming down ok, just get it on the edge and let 'er go.........

hell you could save a lot of balony just buy an electric one from amazon or harbor freight or a pickup truck supplier...bob

Need to be able to pull D* Cat onto lobed.  I don't think an electric will do it.

That should have more then a 5 spd behind it.  It's a Thermodyne, not a Maxidyne.  Used just as a toy, it likely won't matter, but with a heavy load it will struggle.

If I recall there are two bolt patterns for PTOs to mount.  That and the proper gear count to mesh with cluster shaft.

How can I tell which transmission I have?
