This is a great show, typically 20 shovels & drags working, dozers, loaders, dumps, and scrapers playing in the dirt. Hope to see you there!!

Finally got the U-model home, Not many people would think that is positive. This U is DIFFERENT! 290 Cummins, 9509, Reyco, with the high cab & tall hood. I spied this thing about 2 years ago and finally got the call. My wife claims that I only like the ugly trucks, D, G, and now this U, I guess she has a point. I wouldn't consider them ugly, just handsomely challenged.
My goal is to spell my name in the backyard, I have the D covered, now the U is here and the G wraps things up, I only need an O to fill in the middle. With Mack never building an O-model, I guess I may have to get creative and come up with one.

Just a note to let you know the ATCA Keystone Chapter show is being held this weekend in Altoona, PA at the Lakemont Park amusement park. A convoy of trucks from southeastern PA and southern Jersey will be making their way out the Pike Saturday morning. If anyone would like to join in the fun supply your phone number or e-mail address and we can hook up! Doug

Someone at the GREAT ATCA meet in Macungie asked me about an L cab. I can't remember who inquired. If anyone out there knows who it may have been, let me know. Thanks Doug

The truck being built in 1963 and not titled until 1965 is not that uncommon. The truck may have been used as a demonstrator or loaner truck by the dealer. The title was not created until the unit was sold from the dealer.

Some of what you recieve may be the same, There is only so much information that is available from the chassis records. The museum my include a copy of a photo if there was one taken of your truck, or any other specific info that pertains to your truck specifically. If you request specific information from the museum about the driveline, cab, they will certainly supply that. If you have a specific request to add to your letter it wouldn't hurt to call the museum and with your request. As I have said before, they are great people who run the museum, they will do whatever is necessary to fulfill your requests. Doug
I was wondering what to expect when you wirte to Mack for information on one of these old Macks.I know that many here have and have gotten some thing back in return. I was wondering what you might have gotten. I went to the local Mack dealer Friday and they gave me a Chassic Record and I was wondering if that is the same as I would get from the muesum?
I was a little exicted untill I opened the envlope and found 4 zerox pages of what might have been from the old slide view machines. But they are out of focus to where you can not make out much of any thing on them. Other than at the top I can make out that two of them are of the same page. And a few little items that the counter amn and my self think we might have been able to make out. He did go and look a number that we though was there and it looks like the truck had 4.50 rears when it was new. But I was unable to tell if it was ordered with steering brakes or not. I was told this might help me if I were to get in a bind at a scale house. But I am not too sure what I have will do any thing if they can not read it.
I was wondering if this was the same thing others have recived, or if I would get some thing differrent if I were to write to the Mack Musuem.
Any help would be helpfull.

I suggest you don't use air pressure! I suggest water. use an old piston pump pressure washer, plug everything off and start pumping. the water gives you a more solid tank to work with and if for some reason the tank decides to blow you only have a gush of water rather than an explosion of air due to the high air compression necessary to move the dent. Work around the dent with a rubber hammer and it will pop out unless there is a sharp kinking on the edges of the dent. Good Luck, Doug
