  1. Saturday January 12, 2008, I-78, milemarker 20

I thought I saw a long nose Mack on a lowboy trailer headed west. It was burgundy with masking tape on it, it looked as if it was going to be striped. It may have been done for camo.

It caught me off guard, I initially thought it was a 9900 International but then my brain caught up with my eyes and I thought I saw a Mack cab.

It looked interesting, not completely as it had been explained. It appeared long, low and sleek, a little more street friendly that how it was described to me before. I heard big, rugged and almost RD-800 ruggedish, I guess not.

  2. Oddly enough there have been a few twin turbo V-8's surfacing lately. I can't verify that there will be one at a show, but I would think if one does come out, it will be at The ATCA Mational Meet or the All-Mack Meet.

A friend in Virginia recently acquired an F-model with one in it. There was an R700 on eBay over the past few weeks with one in it. That listing had several good photos of the engine.

  3. I just rec'd the poster advertising the, All - Mack Meet at Gerhart Equipment, October 3 & 4, 2008. Roger Gerhart hosts the show every year at his facility in Lititz, PA. It is a do-not-miss if you are a true :mack1: fan. Last year our friends from the Netherlands came back over just to come to this show.

The other show that is heavily populated with :mack1: Trucks is the Antique Truck Club of America National Meet. This year it is June 13 & 14 at Macungie Park in Macungie, PA. This is what most say is the best antique truck show in the world. The 2007 show had nearly 600 trucks, 300 flea-market spaces and a Friday night family reunion / picnic that was fan-truckin'-tastic. Due to the fact that this National Meet is held in :mack1: Trucks backyard, the bulk of the trucks are :mack1: . Without every attending the ATCA Meet there is no way you can truly call yourself an antique truck enthusiast!

There are photos from the ATCA National Meets here on this site as well as the ATCA site. Check them out, this one is a BLAST!!

When you make you plans, be sure to send me a message so I can help steer you to areas of interest.

  4. Justin,

The truck that I know if is mainly complete in a yard. I will get photos of it this week. It appears as if your best source of parts is going to be a parts truck. A parts truck is always good to have around when dealing with something with age and wear. I have two parts trucks for my G. During restoration I could use the best of what was available for my truck.

I also suggest you spend a day reviewing your truck so you know most of the parts you need. Make a list, then when you do find a donor truck you can make sure it has the parts that you so desperately need. This will make things alot smoother and ultimately reduce costs for you.

I've seen the Cruiseliner you bought advertised for quite a while. Did you get the trailer as well?

Good Luck and when I get by the yard I will forward the photos. Doug

  5. Hey, I finally took the time to put some photos up. We had the Fun-Run, 6 out of the initial 10 that signed up made the trip. Man did it rain! We gathered under a cart return roof at Dutchway and pulled out at about 8:15. Five of us left from Dutchway, we met the Brockway in Bernville. The route was fantastic, a little too damp for video cameras so that will have to wait until next spring. Which leads to: everyone who participated loved the run and are eagerly awaiting the next opportunity to go again!

  6. At least it wasn't snow! We did complete the fun-run, 6 of us ended up making the trip to the show. The video taping was cancelled due to the possibility of damaging the equipment. I do have photos and will post them when I get the chance.

Everyone that made the run thought it was a great ride and want to do it in the spring. I guess the seed was planted and next spring the interest will sprout and gather more involvement.

The ride home was sunny and beautiful!

  7. Skip,

Yes I have heard of that area being broken. Good luck on making 2 out of 3, I believe that will be a challenge. I do have some trucks, just click on the "My Gallery" link under my avitar, then gou into the "Bulldogs in my kennel". Doug

  8. Not much easier to find 864 parts here either. My brother has a B-615 that still has the V-8 it it and I got him a spare engine for parts or exchange if necessary. Maybe one day he'll get working on restoing it.

Glad to have you included! You may also want to look at www.antiquetruckclubofamerica.org.

  9. We'll be on

    422 east to Robesonia

Bernville - Robesonia Rd north to 183

    183 north to Shartlesville Rd.

Shartlesville Rd / Wolf Creek Rd east from Bernville to Shartlesville

    Old 22 east to Krumsville

Just past Krumsville (center city) we'll take Long Lane Rd south, cross 222 to Topton Rd. into Topton

Weiss St. / State St. east through Mertztown to onto Seisholtzville Rd to Hereford where 100 intersects 29

29 south to 663 in Pennsburg

663 north to Geryville Pike south to Hoppenville

Pottstown is out of our way, not that we are taking the direct route. The roads were are taking are great sightseeing roads and are fun to drive with the old truck. Last year 3 of us tried the route and it was beautiful. There are several spots that will be fantastic for the video camera catching the old trucks rolling by. Anyone is welcome to join in, there are several meeting up with us at different points along the way simply due to travel. In our case you could join in at Hereford. If you'd like, send me a message we can trade cell phone numbers so I can give you a heads up when we are going to be there.

  10. We are going to try something that has been discussed for some time, an antique truck fun-run. We will gather at the Dutchway Farm Market on Rt 422 in Myerstown, from there we will depart at approximately 8:00am for Hoppenville. John Haines, an ATCA member whose trucks you have seen before, (Haines and Kibblehouse) is having a show at his home near Pennsburg. I have a route mapped out and have a videographer lined up to videotape along several of the scenic roadways that we will travel. Pennsburg is southeast of Macungie off of Rt 663 east of Rt 29. It will be a nice relaxing ride with some spectacular scenery. So don’t put your trucks away yet! Keep one road ready and contact me if you would like to participate or if you have any questions or concerns.

  11. What a show! I didn't end up with a final count but I'll see if I can get a number to post. Great weather, beautiful trucks and wonderful people@! This was probably the best :mack1: Days yet! Put it on you calendar for next year, you can't hardly say it is too far or hard to get to, 2 of our Netherlands friends made it, I have a feeling we'll be seeing some of the photos that they took. Thanks to all who participated and Gerhart Equipment for hosting the event it was a great day for everybody.

I'd love to say count me in, let me know when this will be happening and how much fuel is going to cost when it does. I've cut out several shows that I wanted to go to just to save some money for Winchester and a cruise we are planning on having this fall. I see what I can do and who we can gather up to make the cross state trek. Doug
