  1. What better gift can you give to an antique truck enthusiast than a membership to the

    Antique Truck Club of America.

It is only $30.00 (US Membership) and the member will recieve Double Clutch, the ATCA's bimonthly magazine, reduced registration rates for the ATCA National Meet in Macungie, PA every June, and simply being able to gather with fellow antique truck enthusiasts to support our hobby.

Check out the website for more info:

    Antique Truck Club of America

If you would like even more info, please call Rachel at the ATCA office, 610-367-2567.

Tell her Doug from Big Mack Trucks site told you to call, she can help with all of your questions or direct you to the answer!

  2. If i had a CDL and knew i'd have the chance to drive a Granite, I'd consider it. I live about 68 miles away so it would be a haul everyday.

They meet at the museum on the second Saturday to work on the museum trucks and help around the place. They only take trucks out every so often and they have specific members who are offered that responsibility.

In the past they have rebuilt engines, straightened sheetmetal, polished chrome & brass, cleaned windows, washed trucks, cleaned and straightened up around the museum and whatever else needs done.

I live about 60 miles away and I try to make it there on a Saturday to help the ATCA and the Mack Museum.

Consider joining the ATCA and the Lehigh Valley chapter. Doug

  3. I stopped at the Mack Museum today, Don Schumaker and I looked into the corporate guidelines for the logo useage. The guidelines contradicted themselves in several areas. One of the guides showed a left and right facing new style logo, and the next guide showed that there is no left facing dog.

Per Don, the flaps and mirrors were always installed by the factory with the dogs facing the center of the truck.

  4. Good Question!

This has been a pet peeve of mine, for what seems forever. It was fired back up a couple of years ago when my neighbor started accompanying me to shows. Being a Mack novice, he raised the question about the proper positioning of the dogs.

I always mounted the dogs facing one another. The flaps would face the center of the truck, from the front the dogs on the mirrors should face the center of the truck. (The one thing I always used as justification for the mirror dog positioning is, the dogs on the mirrors can be seen from the sides as well. The mirror dogs should face forward from the side, then when they are viewed from the front the face one another.)

When Macks rolled off of the assembly line the dogs faced the center. In the brochures the dogs faced one another, and in the factory photos the dogs faced one another.

    What does anyone else think?

  5. The Set-back axle F was tested but was never released in the States. There is a photo of a white FM in the rear of the Mack Trucks Photo Album by Warth. There is also a photo of a White FM with blue stripes that was painted by an aquaintance when they were being tested. It was pictured in a book somewhere, I just can't put my finger on it right now. It is an extremely nice looking truck, I'd take one!

  8. It is that time again, I'll be making my way to the National Pike show in Brownsville, PA this weekend. Not only are there trucks, there is construction equipment (actually digging), cars, tractors, threshing, hit & miss, steam tractors, motorcycles, garden tractors, and a flea market. This is all held on a wooded hilltop with great people and good food. Look it up on the web, www.nationalpike.com

Hope to see you there! Doug :thumb:

  9. We've been concerned about the changes so much we forgot the most important part.

:thumb: THANK YOU, FOR MAKING THE 2006 ATCA NATIONAL MEET SUCH A GREAT SUCCESS!! :chili:

Without you the park would be empty, you are the reason our show was so good! Thanks to those of you who brought trucks and to those of you who were there just to take everything in!

We hope to see all of you next year!

  10. Sorry you missed the ATCA National Meet at Macungie! It was a DOOZIE! Check out the discussion at

    www.antiquetruckclubofamerica.org

The discussion board has additional photos attached to the topic 2006 Macungie show.

The All- :mack1: meet at Gerharts in Lititz is a great way to wrap up the show season here in PA. The attendance is typically between 120 and 150 trucks. It is my second favorite show of the year!

  11. All of the info for the show can be found at www.antiquetruckclubofamerica.org. Anyone whoe lives within five hours of Allentown and is interested in old trucks should have to decide whether to go or not,the choice is made, You live too close to miss it! Today I finally determined what trucks I'm taking unless I change my mind before Thursday morning.

    See you there!

    Doug

  12. We hope to see all of you :mack1: Enthusiasts there! The final plans are being discussed, much of the balance of the preparation for the Meet will have to take place when we arrive there next week. The excitement is building, I am having trouble containing myself! :chili:

The :mack1: facilities tour will take place on Saturday June 17th. There will be a bus transporting visitors from the Walnut Street side of the show field to the Macungie Facility. With the number of preregistered trucks, flea-market vendors, truck corral spots and campers it is looking to be yet another fantastic ATCA National Meet! I'm trying to figure out what trucks I am taking, unfortunately I can only drive 1 at a time.

I invite you to look me up at the show, say hello and shoot the bull about our great hobby!

    Doug
