  1. Are disc brakes on all axles available on the Pinnacle? How about the vertical mounted scr mixing chamber behind sleeper?
  2. I was asking about the 505.I was talking to a Sharkey driver that has a 2013.He runs from Galesburg Il to Denver and back with about 43000 in box.He averages about 8mpg.He says at 1400 rpm he is at 62 mph. That sounds like a 3:58 rear, the artical tested the 3:25.It has the 12spd auto. His truck is governed at 63.He said it only dropped 1 gear going out.Others report that going up Mt Eagle they drop 1 gear and have to back out of it towards the top cause its starting to get away from them. This is with the 505 and the 455.What I like is with the pedal to the floor you gain 200ft lb
  3. I talked with Housby Mack in DesMoines Ia.He said Jacobson's trucks were 455's,60" sleeper,13spd and 3:25 rears.
  4. If I can get the vertical stack like the New Volvo day cab has it will work.I may be able to use "D"tanks also.
  5. I'm pulling a dry van.My current truck has 13spd ,double od and 3:58's,ISX 525hp,1750ftlb/1850 on cruse, avg 6.3mpg,1350rpm's at 60mph..If I had to do over I would spec 3:70's.It has no power on hills, but could be egr and dpf problem. My old IH with 470DD,10spd direct,2:64's would pull Mt Eagle at 55 on cruse all day.Best I can get on this truck is 35 to 40 mph.Other day I followed a 455 Mack with auto in N.Dakota.Driver said he was getting 7.6mpg with 78000 gross. His truck was holding 65mph on all the hills and passing all the big CATS.Driver didn't know how his truck was spec'd.
  6. When I spec my truck I would like to keep wheel base about 216"to 224".I would like to have twin 150gal fuel tanks and room for my ThermoKing APU.To do this I would need to have the SCR catalyst mounted behind cab, in vertical position like the Volvo's have on there day cabs. One dealer says this can be done and another says it can't be done.I need the rail space to hang apu.Any input on this?
  7. having trouble with my archilles tendon on left heal.may have to spec with auto. Not sure wich way to go.I run about 62mph most of the time.Want to go with the 505hp.Like to get 7.5.60% of loads will be 35000.
  8. J&M in Quincy IL and I believe Jacobson in DeMoines Ia has 13spds.Sharkey is trying out the 13spd in their tanker fleet.
  9. What fuel mileage can I expect from a "13" Pinnical with 505hp,1760ftlb,3;58 rears,13spd,pulling van with a soft foot and driving 62mph?
  10. I see that Sharkey Transportation of Quincy Il has been getting trucks in almost weekly. They must have a large order placed.Any word on this?
  11. When in the future will the egr be dropped from the MP8? We need that MP10 in the Pinnacle now!
  12. Forgot one. Patton Ring,E.Peoria,309-694-6282.He has worked on Macks for over 25 years. 409 truck haven rd(rt 116 Cat Trail exit access 8)
  13. Glatz? Isn't that now owned by Sharkey?(Quincy Mack). They have a branch in Morton Il.Across from Pepsi.Pete is salesman. Phone#309-264-8006.I'm looking at new Mack now.
  14. Can you get a 13,or 15 speed direct in pinnacle?
  15. When is the MP10 coming to the Pinnacle?I saw on the Mack web page that you can get them with Cummins ISX?The MP8 is 13ltr and the ISX is 15ltr but the MP8 puts out the same hp and torque with less ltrs?
  16. Saw posting on another site that a driver had a 2011 Volvo with a list of problems with the sensors.Truck is in shop every week.Doesn't Volvo and Mack use the same motor and SCR-EGR system?I'm not hearing of sensor problems with the mack.I would like to get a 2011 or 2012 Mack but am holding off to see how they are doing.Right now my choice is Mack or Paccar.I have heard very little about problems with these systems.
  17. Saw a posting on another site that talked about new Volvo's putting out orange puffs of smoke between shifts. Is this an issue with Mack? With the motors being the same.
  18. Can't make up my mind weather to go with a SCR 2011 or stay with a low mile 2009 or 10 with only DPF.The 2011 with less EGR and with SCR get better fuel mileage and are reported to have less problems.I'm working on gearing now.I run 62 to 65 with 80000lbs.I run Mo,Il, and Wi.I have a 13 spd and 3:58 rears, with 515hp ISX.It might be the ISX cause its a little short on power from 40mph to 60mph.From 25mph to 35mph at 1500rpm it pulls like a dog on fire.If this was an older truck it would tell me to go with 3:70 rears, moving the power to mid range on speed..Whats your take?
  19. Should I spec the air assist clutch on my new Mac?Truck is to run regional.
  20. I currently have a "08"IH with 51"sleeper.216"wb.I go into General Mills lots .With my truck i can go between two rows of trailers and make u turn. The Cascadia's can't.You have to back in from street which is unsafe.General Mills at Hannibal Mo is tight when dropping trailers by guard shack.
  21. Trying to keep WB at about 216".Dealer said they can mount mixing hot box on back of cab.I would like twin 150gal tanks with enough room to mount ThermoKing apu on rails but room is a ?.Which type has the best turning radius? The set forward or set back axle?I noticed that the set forward had the air tanks mounted on passenger side in front of the fuel tank, and the set back had air tanks mounted on drivers side under battery box.Looks like set forward had more rail room.
  22. I run Eagan Mn to Indy and I see this wrecker a lot.He did a good job in restoration.
  23. I saw a posting on another site that the MP8 does not have EGR.Only SCR and DPF.Is this true? How often do you have to clean the DPF?Does it regen?Or does it only do a passive regen while going down the road?
  24. Where is the sweet spot on the 2011 Mp8 485hp 1750ftlb?I have been following the fuel mileage on other web sites and it looks like trucks with the 3:58,3:73 and maybe the 3:90 get the better fuel mileage than the ones with 3:32 or 3:42.It also appears if you lower the hp from lets say 515 with 3:55 to 460 or 485 and lower the ratio to 3:73 to 3:90 the fuel mileage goes up.I think the Mack sweet spot is higher than the ISX.Mine is about 1350/1400 with 515hp and 3:58's and 13spd.I am at 1350rpm at 62mph.Performance wise the 427 and 460 pass me all the time. The 350/400 run faster on short hills but I will pass them on longer hills, like 3 miles. I have talked to maint managers of a few large fleets and they indicated no problem with the DPF or EGR on the 2010 or 2011 and the 2011 gets better fuel mileage. If this is true They won't be able to keep up with the demand(when this gets out) from fleets changing over. But a lot of drivers don't think the trucks are cool like the Petes and KW's. and the Macks are at a higher price. But cool doesn't pay the bills,Right? Try to sell me on Mack!
