  1. Well, friends, I have to tell you, when my English teacher (from Michigan, USA) told me and our class about the Pledge of Allegiance and how it has to be said before every day at school, it seemed very unusual for all of us. Most people in Europe wouldn't think of doing something like that, and especially in Germany, where I was at that time. That's because they had something similar in Germany before World War Two, and the little boys and girls swore to do everything for their country and their leader, and later they kept their word - fought the war, invaded other countries, built death camps - all for their country and their leader. At the same time, in the Soviet Union, other boys and girls swore to do everything for the ideals of communism and every working man in the world. They too, later fought wars, invaded, even built their own camps, too. Please understand, after witnessing some of that, many people mean nobody should offer himself for a country, or a religion, or an ideology without thinking critically - everybody of us should use hir/her brains all the time and think about: "Am I doing the right thing, doing as everybody else does?". In my opinnion that's what it's all about. Please, try to UNDERSTAND. Thanks for reading, have a nice day Paweł
  2. You know, some people argue over what god really wants... Religious wars, crusades, you know... Some other claim thay talked to god face to face - those, most unfairly, usually end up medicated. So some people say, lets take god out of this, then it's your opinion vs. mine, doesn't that sound fair to you? Have a nice day Paweł
  3. Vladislav, thanks a lot! Yeah, most truck models are almost toys, I try to make mine a little more real. I wonder what do you mean by "absolutely clean fifth wheel" - will you be able to pull a trailer with it then? I used artist's oil paint for grease, works pretty good. Thanks for the pictures, I can never get enough of them. If you are in western Poland sometime, please let me know. Thanks for your message, have a nice day Paweł
  4. other dog - thanks a lot! That grease got some critic from my colleagues in Poland, so I re-did it and you got to see the results - the critic was helpful. But I had to have it, without the grease the fifth wheel just wouldn't look right, now would it? Say, how do the show trucks in America get around it - all the machine is ultra-clean, and then the fifth wheel? Mark - I couldn't leave the air line out, neither. It's made of 0.6mm soldering wire painted yellow-orange. Not really hard to do yourself. I'll keep you posted with the build progress! Thanks for your comments, have a nice day! Paweł
  5. Exactly, Vinny - it's supposed to be a Big Cam II. Glad you could tell it from my model, that gives me hope! Have a nice day Paweł
  6. Hello everybody! In the last time I managed to build a little. For example I did the fifth wheel: Also, thanks to fitht wheel (Neil), counterman6 (Phil) and sm54 (Steve) I figured out how the air tanks are connected to the brake system, and that allowed me to do this: Thanks a lot for your great help, friends, and if anybody else has any hints, remarks, photos concerning this model or early Superliners - please be sure to post them here. Thanks in advance, have a nice day Paweł
  7. And then it's no wonder they tend to hostility sometimes, judging by the videos we've seen. Once I watched in horror, as a Belarussian truck driver accidentially killed a moto-biker from Germany. I was like three or four cars behind him. He braked hard because somebody in front of him stoped to turn left on an intersection. His rig jack-knifed just a little bit and the front of the trailer got over the white line, just enough to hit that biker coming from the opposite direction an about 60mph. It just ripped him apart. And I watched this particular truck driver for some kilometers, he kept an alarmingly small interval from the vehicle in front of him, to the point that it was impossible for me (driving a van) to overtake him. The horror... Paweł
  8. Well Mark, looks like the ride is going to be economical, so many people wanting to pay it! Just to keep you from disapointment, I've been to a city before (8 millions inhabitants is my record), although never as grand as the New York City. Well thanks again for the offer, have a nice day Paweł
  9. Like in the movie "Rookie" where a classic car with a hot girl behind the wheel drives by two cops. One cop says: "Did you see that?" the other (played by Clint Eastwood): "Yeah, they don't make them like that any more". The first cop: "What's wrong with you? I'm talking about the girl!". The other cop: "Me too." Have a nice day Paweł
  10. bullhusk, you're right, ain't seen nothing yet. You put the things in perspective, I guess everything is really nice and easy around here, where I live. In the city I work (called Gorzow), there aren't even enough cars to build a serious traffic jam. We in Poland like to complain (generally), and also about our roads, guess we don't know how good we have it here. But I'd take your offer, if they ever let me into the USA, I'll try to contact you! Have a nice day Paweł
  11. Thats what happened to my friend at work - he was driving alone from a business trip from Germany. On a one lane road on the polish site the road was empty. Except for a car going down the road from the opposite direction. Shortly before that car passed by my friend, yet another car, that musta been riding on the bumper of that second car started overtaking. My friend jumped the ditch in his car and ended up in the woods in a crashed car. He was lucky to be in one piece, just minor scratches, but then he had to explain everything and how do you convince the people that for example you didn't fall asleep and itr was just a dream? On the other hand, risking an encounter head on, with reletive speeds nearing 200 km/h (125mph) isn't something you instinctively do. That clip Vinny posted is, the way I see it, also from some former Soviet Union country, although I'm not as sure here as with the first one. It scares me to see how hostile are the people towards each other there. I haven't seen a thing like this in Poland for a really long time and I'd prefer for this tendency to last. Have a nice day Paweł
  12. Well, that sure is tasty - I mean cabbage with vinegar - but dang, in western Poland you have to cross the German border to get stuff like that, would you believe it? Have a nice day Paweł
  13. Friends, it's actually "Kielbasa". and the stuffed cabbage (I just love it) is, in some parts of Poland called "Golabki" which actually means "pidgeons" - that's weird, but I love the taste anyhow. That musta been a really nice party! Almost like our sunday lunch Have a nice day Paweł
  14. Looks very interesting! Got any larger pictures? Thanks for sharing, have a nice day Paweł
  15. Lookin' at the tags this happened in one of the countries of former Soviet Union. Vlad could probably tell us which one exactly. It wouldn't be a suprise if the people filming it were cops, look how steady the picture is. With two egos like this in play, nothing good can result from this... Have a nice day Paweł
  16. Yeah Randy, that's the good old capitalist spirit, keep it up! Have a nice day Paweł
  17. Buhaha! I'm also in Poland and I can eat Pierogi or Bigos every day! Plus don't forget the girls Anyhow, I wish everybody that attends good fun (dobrej zabawy) and a nice day (miłego dnia)! Paweł PS. Vlad - where are you headed? Somewhere in Poznań or Gorzów maybe? Have a nice trip
  18. Aww, come on! Taxes never take everything! Even if the taxes took you 90%, would it still be so bad to earn 1M$ in 30 days?, Dang, some CEOs actually make this kinda money, month for month, and I say taxes on them are too low. Think about it, in the moment where such a guy goes to the toilet, he takes a paid break that's worth more than my month's pay, that jut can't be right. And here we rant again! Have a nice day Pawel
  19. Well now you have to let us know how you calculated this one!
  20. Howdy! That's a nice combo, a five ton chassis and a 2,5 ton van! What company made that M818? Thanks for sharing, have a nice day Paweł
  21. Hello Vinny! Good job on that little baby! Makes me wish you had an early Superliner - your photos are a treasure for a modeller. Who knows, maybe you laid a cornersone for a new U-model model kit? Interesting, I'd never figure out the exhaust was ducted under the frame rail. could you get me the close-up of the valve, where the coiled trailer lines originate? And how the airlines leading to that valve are connected? Thanks in advance and keep up the excellent work Paweł
  22. That's an old trick! I would take it hands down. Quick calculation shows on the last day you'd get 2^30 = 2^10 * 2^10 *2^10=1024*1024*1024 pennies - that's about 10 000 000 dollars - that day alone would be worth it. Have a nice weekend Paweł
  23. Vinny, thanks a lot for the photos, very interesting. I hope you can get it installed soon. I got some updates on my model, maybe I can get to post them later today. Thanks a lot for your help, have a nice day Paweł
  24. Randy, I come from a country where the catholics rule. So that's not my line of thinking, that's their line of thinking. But I wasn't precise. I meant those who will live but were injured, will be improved through their suffering, that's what they believe. Pope John Paul II talked about it all of the time. And those who walk away will continue to sin. Because, practically, if you are living normally, there is almost no way not to sin, that's how the christian religion is made, the christians believe human is sinful by nature. Hope it clarifies it some. Have a nice day Paweł
  25. Well thanks a lot Vinny! Again, good luck with your project, so far it looks really good! Paweł
