Mike, I was looking over Dick Lein's B73 at the Baraboo show yesterday and remember noticing how wide the frame rails were right behind the cab. Think they may be like yours too.

That LT is super. What a survivor. You have the ultimate Mack Museum Mike! Jake

Mike, Is that an LT in the background? Jake

I have Hagerty.Have had them for many years. I have three antique cars and my two old Macks with them. Last year when I went to add my 1953 LTL they said they would only accept it if I would repaint it and increase the value. I called them back and said that the LTL was in great original condition and it was going to stay that way and if I had to go elsewere to insure that truck, then I would switch them all. They did reconsider and agreed to accept the LTL. Jake

That's what I was wondering.

Saterday, July 23 is the ATHS Hiawathaland Chapter Truck Show at Nuss Truck & Equipment at Rochester, Mn. They are the Mack dealer at Rochester. Should be a good time.

Very neet picture. thanks for posting it. I wonder if it was a chain. Seems like in the '50s and '60s there was a Truck'otel at Sring Green, Wi. on old Hwy 14.

I have injectors out of a 711 in my 673.

I,m going to South Bend. I preregistered back in January. We will be driving the B 61 down from Wisconsin. I,ve been thinking about that $4.00 fuel too. Soon all we will be able to attend are the local shows.

leversole, I have had no trouble with my rig and have pulled it with my B Model for three years. It is an older trailer and is very well built. The guy we bought it from used to pull it all over with a newer Peterbilt. I put an electric brake controler in the B Model, changed the trailer socket to match the tractor, and I run 80 PSI in the steer tires and 60 PSI in the drive tires. It creates a lot of intrest wherever I go.We pulled it down to Huntsville, Al. in '09 and have been all over Minnesota and Wisconsin with it. I have one for parts if you decide to build one up. It has the heads on it and the internal parts in it. It ran good in my B model but the block has an internal crack.I hate to see it go for junk if someone could use it. I'm in Wisconsin.

OOPS, That other picture just kinda came along with it.

A couple years ago I went to Manders in Lakeville, Mn for parts for my B Model and they said we ain't got em but here is where you can get em and they gave me Watts' phone number. They were right and I had the parts in a couple days.

This is truely a sad day for any one who loves freedom. If the rotten bastards can do this none of our freedom is safe. I am so disgusted that I can't hardly think about it.The achiever in this country gets screwed again and the freeloader gets favors. All I can say is vote the bastards out. Jake

The company that I drove for back in the '60's had quite a few in the fleet and they were usually the result of a wreck. We still drove the old Bs and Cs if they were only rusty but they sure made a nice tractor after a wreck. It would feel like a brand new truck.

Thanks otherdog, Iknew I seen it somewhere before but couldn't find it. Jakebrake

Can some one help? I am looking for the gear ratios for a TRQ7220 transmission in a B Model Mack. Thanks, Jakebrake

steel nose, This past winter we did just that. My B 61 had a bad 711 so we installed a 673C. It also had a rotery pump and I wanted to keep the APE. We had to get timing gears out of a 673 with an APE pump because the rotery pump drives off a different gear and the 711 gears would not mount in the 673 engine. Also there was not enough room for the APE pump unless you have the air compressor with the long mount. If you have to change to the longer mount compressor, you then have to change to the longer assessory drive shaft. Also the pumps lubricate differently so make sure the pump receives and drains oil correctly. When we first started the engine it leaked oil badly at the mounting flange. After removing the pump three times we discovered the hole in the block that the rear pump support bolts to was different on the two engines and was not allowing the pump to bolt up flush. we had to rework the support leg. Many times I asked myself while doing this, why didn't I just keep the rotery pump? Good luck! Jake

My LT was built in Allentown PA. Delivered to Denver CO
Specs from the original are as follows:
6 wheel - changed to 10 wheel in Plainfield NJ Mack Plant. Changes made by San Francisco Branch. July 30, 1952
Weight, total: 18,325
Engine: Cummins NHB
Aux. Trans: B&L 8Q31G
Tires: Firestone AT
Chassis sold to: K&S Equipment Co. 1880 Oro Vista, Oroville, CA
Most of the build sheet contains option and serial no's for each part down to the gaskets, I don't know what the option codes mean; and don't want to
spend hours typing the 9 pages of numbers
I hope you find this helpful and/or interesting.
Anyone interested in starting an L Model Registry, or rather is a registry beneficial/ pro's con's of such a thing? Privacy issues maybe?
Well we made it back from Huntsville without to much trouble but I haven't had much time to do anything with the L model. Idid get some parts ordered for the engine fan and am waiting for them. I find your information on your L very interesting and am going to have to contact the museum real soon. Idid take a few more pictures and will try to get them up here if I can remember how I did it! I'll get more pictures on here when (if) we get back. We're leaving for Huntsville this morning with the B61. I'm still looking for information on the L T model or if some one knows of a book on them I would like to find one. I plan on contacting the Mack Museum too when we get back. They was a big help with the B model. Thanks. Jakebrake

Thanks Superdog. That's the plan to leave it just as is. I may get rid of the headache rack. that thing is ugly. Other than that it needs the belt tightener on the Cummins fixed and one spring leaf replaced in the camel back Also it needs both door glass replaced along with new channel. It's really fun to drive. It has air assist stearing, 5x4 tranny, and a jake. Also has a pto with awet kit. I was told the guy that bought it new drove it until 1994. She came from Montana. Wish she could talk. Jakebrake

This week the L T was deliverd that I bought and to my suprise it was an LTL. I bought it from a picture and from the looks I thouht it was an LTH. I didn't even know what year it was but the title says '53. It has a 335 Cummins which is not original but it runs like a top. Now my B61 has a big brother in the shed.
