Brian, Did you see the two gasoline tanker trucks from Tomah? I know they are working trucks but don't know how they keep them looking like that. Jake

Brian, Thanks for posting the pictures. I was looking for you. Just had a suspicion you might be there. This was the first year that I didn't bring the B 61 and I don't think there was any there. I noticed more people look at the B61 than the BCR. By looking at your truck pull pictures, we were not far from you in the stands. I'm glad Dennis had his H67. We need more older ones to off set some of that chrome. Jake

For those of you that aren't involved in the industry or are too young to remember, here's an article from the Harvard Crimson that tells his story, up to 1974 at least.

Thanks for posting that. I had never read that before. He gave me a CD that he had produced explaining much of the happenings concerning the shutdowns. A lot of information there. He even autographed it for me.Jake

I just read on another site that Mike Parkhurst passed away this last week. He was the founder and editor of Overdrive Magazine. I spent many hours in my younger years reading Overdrive. If there was a Playboy and an Overdrive laying on the table I would probably look through both but I would read the Overdrive. I got to meet Mr. Parkhurst this past spring and enjoyed visiting with him for over an hour. I still have my over 30 year collection of Overdrives. Jake

It's great to find a truck in truly such great condition. That interior looks new. Glad it's found a good home.

Yes Bobby they sure must be. They are straight 5 speeds and I believe they are 300's. I haven't had the cabs up yet. Under the red paint I can see traces of grey with blue on the bottom. The horn button on one says, "Custom Built For Overnite Transportation Co. They are 1976 models and the guy I bought them from said they originally came from out east. Can you tell me anything about them? Jake

Nice,Jake. Tachographs & everything! What are the chances of finding 1 let alone 2 indentical F models in decent shape like that? You must be livin' right,Jake!
Thanks guys. Just lucky I guess. JakeLooks Good!

Ya Mike we did! It's my son's Pete and he's a Mack fan too but he had to kid me and say it's probably as fast as those Macks ever went. LOL He wants one. They are a lot better shape than I have seen around here in years. I'm really pleased with not seeing them first. They have had some body work done some time ago but they are really solid. I used to run over the road in one with a poorer cab than these. They are both kinda ratty inside. The headliners have fallen down. They sat for about six years and I threw some batteries in one and it fired up like it was just shut down.

I watched this one happen. The hill in the background is a couple miles long at 7% and 9%. The driver got his brakes hot and shot across the bridge and through intersection and went over a block into town. The brakes couldn't hold it and it came back down the block backwards and over the retaining wall. There's a Ford Pinto under the trailer.

Nice picture Al. I remember when they were still running them. I have some old 8mm footage transferred to VHS of these. I'll have to check and see if I have video of this one. Looks like this one could of had a leaking rear wheel seal.
