i believe all the end673p, end711 and end707 engines have the split intake manifolds. at least everyone i have ever seen did. ~Matt

End707 is a diesel. think its around 200 hp or 210. i have on in my B61. good running engine, basically the same as a 711, Matt

J8C Champions usually. and the first to foul are #2 and #5. least thats how it is with our B42 with a 402 in it. You can get most of the distributor parts right at Napa also. not too many of those boat anchor gutless 401/402's around anymore haha. ~Matt

was lookin at the Mack Driven for a century book the other night and theres a picture of one of the Pelletiers old RM800's with a double load on it on page 152. ~Matt

Most B models and 673's i have seen have the oil fill on the top valve cover.. some i have seen have it bolted to the side valve cover near the air compressor and a few have it under the injection pump like in the pic. i think in the late 60's and early 70's they moved it to under the pump. Most B61's i have ever put oil in that had it on the top valve cover have the damn radiator radius rod going right across the filler so its hard tp get a funnel in the cover. i think this was a Mack flaw haha. i have even removed the filler before and drilled and tapped new holes in the valve cover to move the filler out of the way of the radius rod a little. also on the number stamping, most cabovers i have seen have the number stamped in the back of the block just below the head. i have also seen it stamped in both places. Just when you think you know all about Macks, they suprise you haha. ~Matt

D J Smith had a B615 here in upstate ny a few years ago that he put floaters on the front with buds. think he sold it to someone down south. you could probably get ahold of doug fetterly, hed know how to get ahold of the Smiths. might even know off hand what offset to use. ~Matt

was getting off I90 (thruway) about 2 months ago and spotted a two tone green R700 pulling for Midland Farms coming off the northway(I87) anyone seen this truck around or know what year it is? suprised to see it still running but then again ive seen Midland farms running a lot of older really beat Macks. this one actually looked pretty nice tho, even had dual stacks. thanks, Matt

went up 3 times in one day here the other day in good old new york state at a local Stewarts shop. gotta love how they raise the price on the gas in the tank twice after they get it. was 3.36 on my way to work, 3.40 at noon and 3.47 later that nite.

serial number is Rs612LST52368 and the tag on the engine says its a 1979 model with 315 hp.is this the original engine for this truck? not that it matters, just wondering. thanks, Matt

just bought an engine from the junkyard. came in a running 1980 r model valueliner. guy let me drive it before we tore it apart and took the engine and tranny out. has a 10 speed roadranger behind it. this engine has the big Mack plenum on the driverside with a two tube air cleaner. i knew it was a 300+ engine. got it home and it is an ETAZ673A. i looked at the front of the block by the timing cover and it says T675 no END or anything in front of it. I thought 675 was for a 237 so why does the tg riveted on the block behind the injetion pump sayin its an ETAZ673A? just wondering. Also the roadranger says its a RT1110. what exactly is this model? a 1 to 1 direct 10 speed? thanks, Matt

Longhorn Trucking in Fort Plain , Ny ordered a new Titan i assume from Utica Mack in the late fall. Still have yet to see it in the yard mingling with all the Kw's and Peterbilts tho. Last i talked to them they said it was backordered.

Might wanna decide to put the hood on before the fenders. have put quite a few B models together and it is always easier this way and avoids a lot of scratches and bad words. ~Matt

Anyone know who carries or where to get Thrust washers for an End673? I assume they arent available from Mack anymore nor is a Main Bearing Kit? Took a good running 673 apart to clean and paint it and found part of a thrust washer in the oil gallery around the air compressor drive gear. Found the other half in the oil pan. would like to just slip a new set of washers in without screwing with the crank or Main caps as this engine has has the top end gone thru and ran pretty good. Also dont wanna put much money into an old 673. Thanks , Matt

thats a newer style FA 517 tie rod and looks original to me. most of the ones on FA517's before 1961 or so had female threaded ones just like a 505 just had bigger tapers. our 63 B42 has that style tie rod end.

I just bought 3 from Cook Brothers truck parts in Utica Ny last month. The part number is 4ME178P4. They said they showed 40 of them still in stock in the Baltimore Mack warehouse i believe. This part number is for the satin plain finish thought, not the chrome one. I think i had Cook Brothers checks for he chrome one and it was NLA. Thise pipe was about $150 a piece i believe. thanksm Matt

most B models from 53-58 had the junction block mounted on the left inside fwherame rail paralleling the transmission. this was a PITA to work on, i think Mack knew this and moved it to the back of the cab on the left side. Also the glass type fuses used on b models up until 59 and 60 faced you in the glove box area. when they changed to circuit breakers in about 59-60 they went to not facing you in the glovebox area. although like everything else with Mack and b models, ive seen some variences. i guess it all depends who was workin on that particular part that day of the week, Matt

Barry dpes your insulator strap wrap around the strap or does it come even with the strap and is it self sticky? i used the kind that comes even with the strap and is self sticky instead of the one that wraps around the strap and it seems to shift and move. thinking about changing it. thanks, Matt

Steele Rubbers products quality is poor. I bought a set of T-top seals from them for my 86 Iroc Camaro and got so fed up im going to throw them away. was gonna put them on ebay but wouldnt want someone tryin to pawn their poor quality stuff on me. i thought someone else was remaking them besides Barry to but i forget now.Luckily i bought a pair of vent windows from Tidewater Mack tears ago when they were $125 a piece. wish i bought 20 pairs now... ~Matt

Doug Fetterly was making some very nice chrome or stainless covers for R models. He was selling them at Macungie this year.

just wondering if anyone on here was the one who bought the end673 and duplex transmission with the air starter tank and valve on ebay. would like to purchase a tank like that one and an air starter and hand valve for a b model. would have bid on that one but it would have cost too much to ship it all to NY and the seller was not willing to separate the air starter bits. thanks, Matt

PPG/Ditzler paint code 40496 is for Mack Exterior green, not interior. interior green varies from B model to b model and the early B models before 1962 or so were more metallic. you would be better off removing a circle plate from the door or the backside of the glovebox door and take it with you to a paint shop and have them mix you up a custom color.

hi, we bought one b model number A-12 from the auction last september. Kevin All bought the other one you talk about, the one with the dump box on it. these trucks were both in the hanger in Rome alone with one brockway plow truck and a chevy delivery truck. i heard Cook Brothers from Binghamton bought all the sears stuff up when they went out of business so i dont know how this stuff is still there unless it was all in albany and they shipped it up after? i know that Brockway S34 in the picture has always been theirs and the b model dump truck they kept cause i heard they were using it to clean up the service stations that went out of business after they went out. any other info would be appreciated. id also like to know where all the trailers went? or were they all cut up for scrap? thanks, Matt

yea, that Brock was the last one Sears put on the road, has a tag axle in the rear, must have been fun driving that in Ny winters haha. that truck was at the auction last sept in Rome where we bought our B model. The Sears boys bought it back at the auction i thought? . Like i said, there are pictures of the Brockways around, doesnt seem to be any pictures of the B models around. thanks, matt
