  1. Rob,I still catch hell for running out of fuel 4-5 years ago, too! I did give a roadside class on diesel engine priming to 2 other guys that had no idea on how to get a diesel restarted after running out!! In a matter of minutes the BCR was on her way again to meet up with the others!! Bet Grandpa won't run out with Kinley in the cab!!
  2. No kiddin'! If your tryin' to sell something,it only takes a few minutes & a little money to do it right.Who knows, you might even end up getting rid of it!!!
  3. Good selection of trucks there,U model! That C has a lot of potential.Being from the west,it should be in reasonably good shape. That DM800 looks cool. That RS700L is really nice.I'd take anyone of 'em
  4. Not to mention the IH bumper. At least it wasn't all hacked up.Looks nice, anyway.Oh well to each his own,I guess. All that stuff can be changed when it gets to your house,Rob!!
  5. I was just up in the U.P. of Michigan a couple of weeks ago. There was a race with all vintage sleds in it,somewhere up there. You would have liked that,U model. My uncles used to sell and race Sno Prince snowmobiles back around 1969-72 in Wausau,Wis.My first sled was a '68 Arctic Cat Panther w/ a 600 Hirth 30hp motor. When it ran, it was fast. But when it got stuck in deep snow, you needed something with a Holmes 750 on it,to pull you out! It weighed a ton! Had a'67 Panther w/300 Hirth single and finished up with a '77 Polaris Colt SS 340.My favorite machine of all because it rarely needed anything but gas/oil and miles of open trail.Sold that one in '83 while in the ARMY.
  6. Good lookin' B-67! Hell, just run it like that for now & have some fun with it before the teardown. You'll get just as many looks and thumbs up with it like that (very presentable).Your choice of course. We have our fun in Illinois with the Secretary of State's office. They tell us you can't get an AV or Antique Vehicle plate on something over 10,000 GVW.Then they go into a huddle, one guy will look back at you and say,"just give it to him"(if your lucky),you leave with your registration & plates and say,WHEW!!! One of our club members said that he was going to lead the charge to get antique trucks looked at equally by each and every state.I told him good luck, the industry has been crying for that since 1935,and we still don't have uniform truck laws from one state to the next!!
  7. From the album: 57 BCR's Trucks

Ordered this baby my way! Canadian-Built,also. 210"WB EM-6 300L w/Jake,2070 trans,SS34C-54"spread 5.55 Ratio w/PDLO,15ft. Heil body(later switched to a Galion).I modified the exhaust to get the body closer to the front for better weight distribution-worked well! The truck is still in use around N.Illinois, where I live.Has close to a million miles on it.It looks better than when I owned it! The guy actually has spruced it up a bit! Still has the rear original trans, rear ends, Inj. pump, starter, water pump,& the cyl heads have never been off! A testament to great maintainence,to a GREAT truck!
  8. From the album: 57 BCR's Trucks

Canadian-Built 300+ (315hp)w/Jake,RT-12509 Fuller,SS38C 60" spread-3.87 Ratio,14ft Galion body-Started out life as a tractor, in the oilfields of Wyoming, hauling crude from the wells. Was in very nice shape when I bought it in '88,in Boulder,Co..Sold it to buy the brand new '90! Had a few issues with it,because of the "stretched tractor" trying to be a dump truck(frame & front axle,etc.).Other than that, not a bad truck at all.Hauling 50,000lbs all day in stop & go traffic around the Chicago area,I stayed right around 7.6-8.3 MPG!
  9. Cool A-Model! Remove the drilling rig? Can't those big football players just hang on to it with one arm, like the way our garbagemen used to do? LOL!!! No,seriously that would make a nice parade truck.Kind of makes me wish I hadn't sold mine! I really like the A's
  10. Had 2 Canadian R's.Was always going to put a set of those on 'em.Never found any.
  11. Nice sidewinder! You could still get that back panel around 2002-3.Who knows, now? Looks complete, thats a plus! Always liked that way some companies" blacked" the hood in like that.Added some class & broke up the otherwise 1 color paint job.Good luck with it.
  12. Yes it is still titled as a '57 B-61T.The tag just gets installed on the R driver's door.I actually bought it for parts to use on a '58 B-61LT I was working on.It was too rare to cut up,so I restored this one instead of the B! The parts(at the time) were fairly easy to get and not too expensive in 2001 when I bought it.I hear its a different story today.I don't know how many old Macks end up as yard trucks. We know why,BECAUSE THEY LAST!!!
  13. I had a '79 R612ST (Canadian)300+ 315 hp,RT-12509 9 speed Fuller, that had the 2 tubes and the hood scoop! The air cleaner housing was actually stepped down at the top.It had an air controlled butterfly to get air from under the hood (like the old oil baths) during rain or snow. The scoop had an element under the hood that filtered air for the tip-turbine.I changed it to a 2 stage (USA style).Much less plumbing to deal with, both filters were then in the same place.
  14. Mine is an ex-military '41 Fruehauf that was actually built as a pull trailer.Somewhere along the line, somebody removed the dolly/drawbar set-up from the front and installed a king pin,so it could be pulled by a tractor.I was very lucky to find it in such good shape. The steel is really in good shape.Very little rot.Restored it and added 3 ft to the beavertail,if you can believe it? Now that I look at it,all the trailers in this picture are Fruehaufs!
  15. It was owned by Severson Transport of Edgerton,Wis. for 40 years! Started out life as a 1957 B-61T.Was converted to an R using the Mack BCR kit in '68. It finished up life as a yard dog 4 years before I bought it in 2001. Thanks for your comments.
