Found this door plate in an add on Truckpaper, https://www.truckpaper.com/listings/trucks/for-sale/list/manufacturer/mack/model/rs600. It was listed as an RS600. Just wondering if anyone has ever seen this or knows what this started as? Glider Kit?

Have you looked at the ATHS website? There's a guy in CA selling what he's advertising as an AC. It's actually an AB. Looks like it has an engine in it. https://aths.org/backlot/8787/1924-mack-ac/california/usa/trucks/

Those don't have spring brakes so the shoes might not be stuck to the drums, maybe. Back off the slack adjusters and see what happens! If they are stuck and you can get the slack adjusters backed off sometimes you can break the stuck shoes loose by hammering on the drums. Might need to use a large drift punch to get to them. Best of luck!

Not hydraulic, definitely early s-cam air brakes.
With Wedge brakes the air pot bolts right to the backing plate. None of the operating mechanism is visible.

It seems thats been done a lot. Here's a link to an article about a Northern CA log trucker who had several of them. See page 29. https://rootsofmotivepower.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Roots-Of-Motive-Power-Highline-2006-April-Vol-24-01.pdf. I wonder if any survived?

On 10/15/2006 at 9:00 AM, MackLTH said:Recently, I had a visit with a elderly fellow down in the Nevada desert. He had restored a Mack LT a number of years ago (a duplicate to the LT's he had back in the fifties) and he had a number of surplus parts left after the resto. We agreed to meet early one Saturday and go over his pile of LT stuff...mostly suspension parts. I ended up buying all the (unbroken) parts.
Some of this stuff was still bolted together, so I got busy with my ratchet.
A few hours later, Roy's wife appeared and said she had made us lunch.I was more than happy to drop the wrenches after a few hours in the hot Nevada sun. Over sandwiches and iced tea Roy recalled how he (and his father) had operated a logging concern in the Oroville, California area many years ago. The company had a number of LTL and LTH Macks...three of which were purchased new. When Roy mentioned the new Macks, his wife said "did I tell you I found some papers that belong to those Macks you had in Oroville?" Roy shrugged and said "maybe Pat would like to have a look at them"
After a short search, a couple of envelopes were produced. One was marked 1953, the other 1955. These were the multi page documents specifying every component that would go onto a LT...same thing you would get a copy of from the Mack museum. I looked at the 1953 paper first and noted it was ordered with a 275 Cummins...each page was stamped with "Mack of San Francisco" in big red print with date of delivery below that.
I then opened the papers marked 1955 and scanned down the page, my eyes settled on the serial number, LTH2D1194D . I leafed through the rest of the pages and stopped on the last page when it struck me....I looked at the serial number again...it looked familiar....because it was for my truck at home. I sat there for a second, stunned. I looked up at Roy and said "Roy, the truck I have sitting in my driveway,...you purchased new 51 years ago" Roy laughed and said "I guess those papers belong to you" and "would you like to see pictures of your truck when it was new ?" Ahhh..ya ...I think so....LOL What are the freaking odds?
Just revisited this story. I don't suppose you have the serial # for the 53 LTL? My dad and I bought an LTL out of Oroville a couple years back that was supposed to be one of Roys trucks. I'd love to be able to confirm if it was or not. It originally had a 275 in it.
Thanks, Brad

Thanks Vlad,
I have a couple in steel that I will be using if I can't find an aluminum piece. The are actually under an LTL now. Not sure if they are original or got swapped after the original ones broke. Just because the truck is an LTL and the aluminum parts were available doesn't mean Mack put them in.

Mackaholic, I have a seen a black b model tractor pulling a dump trailer several times around the San Jose area in the past year.
Haven't seen that one. I'll have to keep my eyes open next time I'm down that way. There were a couple of B's up here in wine country that would haul during harvest but I haven't seen them lately.

Looks like Allen Nelson's LT. Think that is the one with an E9 in it. Probably not even working it hard, just a stroll in the park. 👍
That's the one. Hard to see the V8 emblem on the hood but it's there. He was behaving himself pulling away from the stop sign. not even a puff of black smoke.

I was in the right place at the right time this morning and got this video of a buddies LT hauling his D6 I believe. There are still a couple of working old Macks left in CA. Not many though.

I took a little road trip this week to visit my daughter at college because two of my chocolate labs died in the last week and this morning I bought this truck
I did a double take when I saw your post. I looked at that truck a month ago. Never thought to ask if it was for sale. I was visiting a buddy who has a business down the street from where it was parked. Nice clean truck! Congrats

See you have some LTL frame parts. My stanchions are good but would you have a front engine mount for a 275? Mine has a crack, second one in the truck, and I would rather fine a good one than try and weld this one. Also would you have the rear aluminum cab mount? I have an aluminum rear cab mount that was damaged the first time the front engine mount broke, and the engine dropped, tearing it up with the universal joint when the trans pivoted up and front of engine went down.
I don't have any cab mounts currently but I do have the mold to make them. They are reproductions made from an unrepaired original. Even have the correct part number. They have to be machined for width to fit between your frame rails and the mounting holes drilled. If you're interested I'll contact the foundry and get a current price. Last batch were about $1200 ea.

I've been looking for one of these for a while for my dad. Found this one on Ebay. Didn't realize until I got it in my hands that it's a very early R700 Western. Drop center bumper and the hinged lower part of the hood gives it away. Strange since the date on the back is copyright 1976. The truck is not quite that old, 1971.

865 or 866. Likely the later if the engine is original to the truck. If the data plate is still on the valve cover that would supply all the details.

This had to be some corporate fleet truck. No gauges, tachograph, wedge brakes. Seems like a strange spec.
