The more I think about what you are planning on doing the more I’m gonna say don’t do it.You are talking about using a antique for every day use.Unless you are a mechanic or at the very least very mechanical you may be in for more than you bargained for.If you are using it for a site truck it won’t be as bad,but if you are going to be pounding down the highway all day you better be prepared to be under it quite often. It’s tough to crave out a living with a new truck let alone a 25 plus year old truck.Down here in Philadelphia the going rate for a triaxle is around $90.00 hr.Do the math.Driver going to cost $20-25 or more hour, insurance $7500 year, tires.I was going to buy a new Mack $190,000 plus put it in my daughter name for the minority business. Now mind you I have all the connections so the truck will work,I did the math and it doesn’t work.Sorry if I piss in your cheerio’s but you know all the facts.

You hit the button on the head.

When I was growing up over 50 years ago we had a saying"come and see American wonder"meaning anything that was amazing and outstanding had to be American.

Americans are the same people demarketing their nation in the sight of the world. Everyone knows why there was no audience at that inauguration and I think that speech should serve as new beginning for Americans because like it or not you are stuck with this administration for at least 4 years.

    You have great insight.

For those of us in "shit hole" countries it nice to have the US join us as a country where elections are rigged and Tin pot dictators now have no moral compass pointing accusing fingers at them.Yoweri Museveni of Uganda who has been in power for 36 years and just this week won another term of 6 years at 76 years old told the opposition to stop crying rigged elections like Donald Trump with no proof.

Any of you guys looking to come over here and work with Macks?

  4. FJH may be on to something.   Knowing how those granites were before we gave them their testicles back, I was in the habit of pretty much just floorboarding  the fuel pedal in hopes of it going at some point.   Noe they that are remascalutaed, I still have that habit.  So I try to ease into and they seem a lil sleepy.   I think the best method is to get them to you cruising speed and hold a good rpm with them to get your economy.

  5. I have been having this discussion with a friend.  He has a 94 RB mechanical E7 300 that’s cranked up and a 2060 trans.   Just thinks it’s a pooch cuz the large cats pull away at 50mph.  He wanted to change all kinds of shit thinking he was gonna go faster.   All I said was “boy you like shift gears and lose money”.

  6. We ran them in semis grossing 80-85k depending on how you got loaded.    Let the Maxidyne do it’s thing and lug is down into it’s sweet spot with the torque.    If you think you have to keep the R’s up all the time you will always be tach’ed out.   Those guys with the bigger power and more gears may be ahead of you, but I really doubt they will get an extra load on you at the end of the day.

We got rid of the booms and I welded the mounts on the triaxles and we used moffetts and princeton telladyne units. I liked the irish moffetts the best. I made shure they were powered by kubota engines never had any issues with those power plants.

We run older 2wd Princetons.   Kubotas are the only way to go
