  1. All I'm going to do is send the pump out and have the pump shop set it up the way I want. Thats all you really need to do to get the horse power your looking for. If you want more than that out of 325 you would need a bigger turbo but it would more wise the replace it with an E9 which is easy to get parts for if. As far as I know they didn't make bigger injectors for the 866 V8s but I don't know for sure. My RS700 has the 375 (it was originally a 325)with the 6 speed and my brother has the 325(originally a 375) with a 12 speed and what a diference there is between the 2. I do have a 1070 Mack 10 speed for mine but I need to overhaul it before I put in. The 10 and 12 speeds work really well with both engines but the 5 and 6 speeds work much better with the 325 than the 375 because of the torque differences and operating ranges as well. In my opinion a 325 with an old Mack 10spd or 12spd is the ultimate set up.

    Thanks, Josh

  2. He put a million miles on it before he sold it in 1985. Of couse he rebuilt it once and always kept up on replacing bearings when needed and he didn't beat the liveing shit out of it . He respected the power. The problem now a days is finding parts for the 866's. There nearly impossible to find. Luckily my Brother and I have a nice little stash of parts just in case something ever goes wrong with ours. I'm going to have mine set up to be about 425hp in the not to far future because it runs really good but I would really like to make it run closer to what my Great Uncle had his set to.

    Thanks, Josh

  3. Thanks double clutch. The worst part of the truck is the cab but were fixin to swap it with another dm800 cab. Just wish it would of been the 375hp engine. Is there a lot of room in pump adjusting to at least get it to 375hp?

    Take it from me 325 is much better! My Brother and I have both the 325 and a 375 that are pretty much stock and the 325 has a much better torque rise. My Great Uncle had one years ago in a 71 R700 and he played with it quite a bit and he had well over 400 horse power. Just my 2 cent

  4. I've driven MANY heavy spec Mack dumps daily for years(New England roads...),and no doubt it's tough to move at the end of the day!Fine for a hobby truck though :twothumbsup:

    :loldude: !! It's good to know I'm not the only one that's not affraid of driveing their short R700 V8 :twothumbsup: . I'm still alive and have a good back(for now :whistling: ). That's a really good find. Hope you enjoy it and DON'T SELL IT! Operating range is 1350-2400 RPMS on the 325 V8s.

    Thanks, Josh :bulldog3::SMOKIE-LFT:

  5. Ron,I hope it's as nice as the pics show and as it was represented by the owner. I just wish it wasn't so damn short. Anybody ever stretch an aluminum frame??? As far as the sound,I always thought they had a sound of their own.

    Mike that's just the right length :loldude: . If it being that short really bugs you that much I'll definitely come to Iowa to get it :whistling: . No jokes I'm serious!

  6. Sprag farms aint a bad visit once in a while either

    Know chis walker from cabridge? My wifes uncle, we`ll be seeing him over holidays, her parents are in mckean, im big into the e`s myself, like your projects, for me maybe 5.9 or detroit 466 on mack 6x6 chasis, if could find one narrow enough

    Yes I know Chris but not very well. He stops down to the block plant once in a blue moon. My Mom actually used to work in his wifes shop years ago and and she knows her farely well. I don't know Sprag at all but one guy I work with nows him quiet well.

    Thanks, Josh :clock_logo::SMOKIE-LFT:

  7. If it were me I'd leave the 6spd in as well. That has a 6spd overdrive which is very rare not to mention it has an EM9 which has a Maxidyne pump so it was designed to be lugged down to 11-12 hundred RPMs. Mack put alot of 6spds behind the older EM9s. Besides My buddy is on his third Fuller 18spd behind an E9 and it's on its way out after only a year. He said enough of this $hit, so this winter we're putting in a nearly indesructable Mack 12 spd which is what I told him to do after the first one screwed up. But you know what they say about opions :loldude: . Just my 2 cents :whistling: !

    Thanks, Josh

  8. Ha Guys,

    I'm looking for a Good restorable cab for my recently aquired EF. This is the same cab as all the smaller E models and the same as the bigger Es with the exception of the fire wall were the hood rests. All I need is the shell as I already have 4 good doors and 3 extra dashes as well. If you can help me out let me know.

    Many thanks, Josh

  9. I don't know if I posted if these chassis numbers before or not but here they are:

    EF1D 3146 (Soon to be restored)

    EG1S 4774 (Only some parts are left of the truck)

    EG1S 6569 (Only some parts are left of the truck)

    EG1S 7207 or 7247[double staped plate](Only some parts are left of the truck).

    I'll have to get the number off my Dads restored 1947 45S and the one off my EE parts truck.

    Thanks, Josh

  10. Ya I was suprised to find the base was intact too. I actually have one better than that off of my Dads 45S because he had a NOS one he put on. The one off his has very little pitting and perfect chrome. I'm thinking of putting in a Dodge Cummins with a really quiet muffler because Mack did put Cummins engines in there trucks back then. I just need to talk My Cousin out of his Mack Diesel emblems for the hood :whistling: .

  11. Thanks for the coments Guys. I'm planning on doing a ground up restoration but I'm considering updating the eninge from the original, but I haven't decided yet. I'm going to paint it green with a green frame like it was originally. The vin is EF 1D 3146. I've got another one to go get that my dad found for $200 that really rough, but I have enough parts to build 3 E models. Here's some more picture that I took this morning.

    Thanks Josh.

  12. Hi, sorry to start yet another similar thread but my R Model project has stalled because I need to work out exactly how tall a Western RS/RL/Valueliner cab mount is.

    Is there anyone that has a Western RS/RL/Valueliner that can post a picture of their front cab mount (to show how tall it is compared to the chassis) or measure the distance in height from the top of the chassis rail to the centre of the eye of the mount?

    It would be really appreciated if someone could help as we don’t have these models in Australia and I need to fabricate a cab mount to the correct height.

    Thanks!!!

    I'll take a look at my RS700L and get you some pics and measurements.

    Josh

  13. Ha Guys,

    I found most of the red interior I've been looking for but the door panels and arm rest are missing. If any of you know where there is one or both of the door panels please send me a PM. I would take them in any condition.

    Many thanks, Josh
