  1. I love the R models! My grandfather bout an 89 with 350 and 9spd to haul rock every day. He sold out his buisness in 05 that truck had almost 2million miles on it with the original crank and bearings. How many trucks do know do that , start and stop all day long expierencing rough terrain and last that long. The joke with that truck was if we had 20 of those trucks in the fleet we'd be millionaires and thats the truth all we ever did was maintanense. My opinion i loved them easy to work on ( no computers). ~Joe

  2. I finally got some pics posted. (See my Album in Members Gallery for more pics.) This is our 1970 R Model that was the ITPA Semi Truck 2nd place in points in 2001. It was green back then but has since been repainted CAT yellow you see in the pics and is now in retirement.

It has a 300 675 cu in. with a modified fuel pump, injectors and turbo. It has a MACK 5 speed with overdrive and backed by 417 rears.

Hope you enjoy the pics and will have more in the future.

  3. sometimes unhooking the anaroid valve gives you more low Rpm power cause most people dont shim them correctly.

If u want to turn up the fuel first u need to find out if someone has already. on top the gov. there are six bolts one has a lead plug that needs to be removed then u need a special socket i believe its a 32 point socket. if u get the cover off u should be looking at the "rack" consisting of one nut with a carrot looking piece and another nut to jam them all together on a piece of all thread. a good rule of thumb i use is count the flats of the nuts in other words to get more fuel turn the back nut 5 flats to start (loosening it) then back the front nut to jam them together. take a center punch and make five dots on the gov. cover so u know how much fuel was turned up. Use caution doing this stuff.

  4. all u need is a military spec. E9 they made 3 models for the gov. to put in tanks. They all have 4 turbos the first one is 750hp the 2nd one is 900hp and the 3rd one is 1000hp. all the did to get more power was add more fuel and more rpms thats it . I have this brocure my dad got from mack school years ago it shows every thing torque curves and all its cooll.

  5. Why dont u just buy one bigger turbo instead of running 2 that would be easier and cheaper in the long run. If u run 2 and the front turbo blows it would take out the 2nd and cost that much more. Im not tellin u how to play your cards or nothin like that its just something to think about.

If u want one that moves big air try one off a ginset engine. 50+ psi guarenteed . nothin else try turbo calculator.com you'll learn lots of info there.

  6. There may be a chance there is a colapsed fuel line. Ive had this happen to me years ago it kind of did the same thing. Try taking them off at both ends one at a time not to mix them up up and blow air through them (air comp.) put your had over them to check flow.

I used to keep a little propane torch with me in the winter to heat up the 90 degree fittings when i would gell up wich may also be the case too. Thats one thing to remember try to use less 90's when plumbing fuel it can cause problems in the cold.

  7. Hey guys does your trucks have tip fans on them? If not i would start there . If they do find out if u have a 237 fuel pump or the 300 hp pump the difference is the 237 pumps have a sloped cover on the back where the gov, is located. Keep in mind adding these things may require some timing changes a injector changing. I can tell u how to turn up the fuel , but would feel better if u emailed me personally. I dont think its to wise to have that type of info laying out there for everyone to see.

    Thanks

    Joe

  8. In the 90's the e9 was equiped with the bosch pump ( the in-line pump) before that it was the v-pump ( which are the better ones they have bigger fuel barrels to deliver more fuel hense more power). The first E9 came out in 79 bought by Jr.Collins (buckeye bulldog) . Horsepower is amazing not many know but mack made some E9's for military use when my dad went to mack school in the late 80's he recieved a brochure on them . They made four models each different horsepower just by stacking turbos and adding fuel the end result was 1000 horsepower.. I say the brochure the other day in the shop ill dig it up and get it on here for you guys. If you have an E9 get the overhaul book on Ebay thats where i got mine for $30 it tells u everything.

    RPM RATINGS ARE

    E9-400 400@1700

    EC9-400 SAME AS ABOVE

    E9-450 450@1800

    E9-500 500@1900

    THE "C" IS FOR CALIFORNIA

  9. The mack rears pull actually 60/40 , 60 at the rear. Trent your right on the brake thing i used to pull a dump trailer without parking brakes so i would bleed the air off to the trailer and unhook the hoses this way the brakes wouldnt stop my momentum worked every time.
