  1. I had to remove the injection pump to replace lifter cover gaskets, so I was able to confirm that the oil hose I was questioning does supply the oil to the Woodward governor. The hose connects to the top of the timing gear housing near the engine serial number stamping, and the passage goes through the syncrovance housing and up into the governor. The hose runs across the front of the engine and ends where the primary fuel filter would mount. This is apparently where Mack decided to mount the Woodward oil filter. The other hose runs down to the lower part of the block on the driver's side. I haven't pinpointed that yet, but it would be the oil supply and is currently just connected to the other hose with a tee (my filter was removed and bypassed apparently). I found a Woodward document online that says a minimum 40 micron filter is recommended to be used, and says that many Mack dealers wouldn't have honored the governor warranty if no filter was installed. The filter number above (485GB356) looks like it's the same number as the factory primary fuel filter, so maybe that's what would have been installed? For now, I'm going to install a Moroso remote filter housing and spin-on filter. It's pretty hard to find any info on the hydraulic governor for these, I guess not many were installed by Mack? Seems like most are the mechanical type. Here's a pic of the truck before we left for Macungie last month. Great show!
  2. I think my '65 B61 might have had a governor oil supply filter on it at some point. I believe the 2 oil lines that are still on my truck were for that, but they're just connected together now near the intake manifold. Does anyone have any info on these filters? Is it a good idea to use them even if the truck isn't used every day anymore? The part numbers I have for bracket and filter are 142GB285 and 485GB356. Are photos of these parts available anywhere? Thanks a lot for any help
  3. I had bolted the box back into the truck before I saw your message Mackpro. The only info I got off of it beforehand was "GEMMER" and "7DC06". I used a CR 17231 seal, which seemed to be a good replacement for it. It was only a single lip seal unfortunately, but I think it will last as long as I do
  4. Does anyone have a part number (Mack or aftermarket) for the cross shaft oil seal on a 1965 B61? The gear box number is 20QC319AP1, and this seal is for the shaft where the pitman arm attaches. The seal has an OD of 2.250" and the shaft diameter is 1.750". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks My parts book only has the parts breakdown for a different box, with a seal number of 364SZ66. This seal OD is too big (2.500"). I was able to find a CR seal that should work. 👍
  5. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm still in need of the B model front shock parts. New or good used will work for me. Thanks again for any help.
  6. Thanks for the link. I bought 4 of them, I believe they're the right ones. I really appreciate your help!
  7. I need some link parts (ball joints) for the rotary shocks on the front of a B model. My link rods are 9/16" diameter. I'm interested in new or used parts, or complete shock assemblies. Any help on where I might find parts would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
  8. Would anyone happen to have any info and/or pics of the plug that covers the approx 5" hole in the lower passenger side of a B model firewall? I "think" it's for the hot air intake to the air cleaner (?), if the truck came with that option. Mine did not have the hot air set-up. If a cover is supposed to be there, I'd also be interested in rounding up the right parts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  9. Thanks guys. Barry was able to help.
  10. I need a 5-6 each of the inner door screws and clips for a B model. 1/4-28 Philips head with the large captured washer for the window mechanism mounting, and the course thread Philips screws and nut/clips for the door panel mounting and lower window travel stop plate. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks
  11. Where does the the rear wiring terminal strip (junction block) mount on the B61 trucks? Mine is under the left rear of the cab, but isn't mounted to the truck. I assume it's supposed to be attached somewhere near the left rear corner of the cab somewhere. Thanks for any help
  12. Would anyone have a tractor protection valve mounting bracket from a B model they could post a few pictures of? I need to fabricate one, and don't have any details on it. If anyone has an extra they would be interested in selling, I'd be interested in it. Thanks in advance
  13. I need some help with B model battery box configurations. My truck has a 24V starter and a single R model box that's been welded on, and it has two 31 batteries in it. I haven't been able to find any helpful information on how to figure out how my truck would have been originally set-up. I've seen some trucks that have a box on the left side, some on the right, and some look like they have 2 boxes. Would all 24V trucks originally have had 2 boxes? Also, how were the boxes originally mounted on these trucks? The holes in the back of this box would not match up with any original holes in the frame. Were there angle steel brackets? My truck is a '65 B61 tandem with the short wheelbase (146"?) and dual aluminum fuel tanks, and it also has the air tank on the driver's side between the fuel tank and the axle. Thanks for any help
  14. Thanks for the replies. My 711 pan does not have the screen in it, but I believe the picture of the 711 engine in the TS442 manual shows a screen on the bottom of the pan. I just trying to make sure mine has the correct parts on it, and I was a little confused on what was the right set-up on the 711. My fear was that somebody threw this pan on it but left a strainer in there that would need periodic cleaning. I'm not even sure if that could be done, but it sounds like this is the right pan.
  15. Would a mid 60's 711 engine have come with just a plain steel oil pan, or would it have come with the removable sump type pan for strainer cleaning? Thanks in advance for any help
  16. Thanks for the pictures and info Steve, very much appreciated. I'm almost certain now that mine came with the Donaldson type, and it looks like I have one rounded up, with the help of you guys here.
  17. Licensed to kill, sorry, I just saw your message to my wanted ad. So I guess the plastic intake pipe on my truck could be the original one? I just thought I saw aluminum colored pipes on the trucks. It would be good news if I didn't need to round one up. Hopefully I'm not confusing what you're calling the intake. Thanks again I just looked more closely at the connector intake pipe on mine. It's the angled one and apparently the original, so the correct air cleaner for my truck would have a straight pipe on it. I think I understand it better now guys. Thank you
  18. Thank you very much for the help guys. I wasn't aware that there were 2 intake types. I just posted a wanted ad this morning for the pipe that connects the air cleaner to the under hood intake piping, and didn't know there were 2 different kinds. I think it's aluminum pipe? I'm completely confused about what air cleaner and connector pipe I need now, because my truck had a custom air cleaner can with a non-original plastic (I think) connector pipe. The only thing I'm sure of is that I have the air cleaner mounting bracket on my truck, so I don't think it came with the winter/summer air cleaner. If anyone has any pictures of the cold weather and warm weather intakes, along with the associated air cleaners for a B61, it would be a huge help. Would a truck originally sold in PA or OH have come with a cold weather intake?
  19. I'm looking for the aluminum (I think) engine intake pipe that connects the air cleaner to the under hood intake piping. I'm looking for the pipe that runs through the cab. Please message me if you can help. Thanks - I'm not sure if they came in different diameters or lengths for different trucks, let me know if I need to provide additional info. Update: With some help from the forum, it looks like the one on my truck is the original, and so I don't think I need one any longer. Thanks very much guys
  20. That's the first I've heard the term "winter/summer" air cleaner. Is that the type that mounts over the vent opening and has the control cable that operates the door? From what I've seen, I think that type has a different bolt pattern on the cab than the style with the separate mounting bracket. Do I understand that right? The bolt pattern on my cab is what I was thinking indicated what kind my truck originally came with.
  21. I think D-Day has found the right one for me. He's getting info on it.
  22. There was an air cleaner on it when I bought the truck, but it was home made and not what I really wanted to keep on it.
  23. Just wondering if anyone would know what the original configuration was on the tank cross-over hose with dual aluminum tanks? Was it a single hose from one tank to the other? Hard pipe in the center maybe, with a short hose on each side? Also, was there a single leveling hand valve on one side or the other? One other question. How was the hose or pipe supported under the truck? Mine has some steel angle going across that's bolted to the bell housing. Thanks in advance for any help
  24. Thank you D-Day. I'd definitely be interested in seeing what he might have for it.
  25. I have a left side Dana/Spicer GG5 11 6-bolt PTO that I will not need. It's on my 5-speed Duplex transmission. Asking $75 OBO, however I am looking for an original Mack cover plate for mine for when the PTO comes off. If you're looking to put a PTO on yours, I'd be interested in your cover. Please message me if interested. Thanks
