  1. It's so nice to hop in the old Mack and go for a ride now, and so many people enjoy seeing it. That makes it even better. I can't imagine what it was like doing it for 8 hrs (or more) in the blazing heat or freezing cold. And back then, there was nobody giving you a thumbs-up, they were probably all using another finger as you tried to climb a hill all loaded up, LOL. Seeing the footage of the guys driving the trucks when they were building the Hoover dam is pretty incredible. I wish there were more videos showing the old truck assembly lines and manufacturing plants.
  2. I liked when he said "nobody drives an old truck just for fun!" I guess he's at least partially right, it's not ALWAYS fun......
  3. For us newbies, what's meant by the BCR conversion? What did it consist of?
  4. Thanks for that Terry. Hopefully I'll be able to find this thing. I assume it was used on all trucks with 2 rear axles, back in that time period. Just in case my description wasn't written as clearly as it should have been, this part mounts to the driver's side frame rail and has three threaded connections. The main air line from the foot valve, the air line to the front rear axle, and the air line to the rear rear axle.
  5. I'm looking for a Bendix 3-port air brake tee or manifold for the rear brake air lines on a dual axle truck. I think it was used on many makes and years, mine is a B model. It has the Bendix number T-210768 on it. It's just a small aluminum block with one 3/8' NPT and two 1/4" NPT threaded ports on it. It splits the main air brake line into the two air lines for the axles. Please message me if you can help. Thanks in advance
  6. I'm in need of some parts for a Bostrom Viking T-bar seat. I would need the adjusting tracks and any necessary brackets for a B model installation. The truck has the standard original driver's seat installed now. Any help with getting these parts rounded up would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  7. They're polished aluminum wheels, old Alcoa wheels. I was finally able to find studs that are the right length for them. The BWP studs seem to be the longest, because they don't have the really large chamfer on the lug nut end (which makes the thread length a little too short) that some of the other brand studs do. So it looks like I'm good now. Thanks for the help. I was able to get new window kits for the vintage Stemco caps on the truck. The 5999 ones fit (2 3/4"), and all of the screws came out ok. I guess mine were completely painted over at some point to make it easier to see the oil level in them, but it seemed to make it harder
  8. I was able to find the number on the hub and it matches the part number on the assembly document for the truck, 6QJ415B. I can't believe I missed it, but at least I know it's just a matter of finding the right studs now. Meangreen, I don't know of any front axles for sale for your truck, but you could reach out to Kevin All in NY. He is always very helpful and seems to have a lot of parts trucks. You should place a wanted ad on this website also, if you haven't already. I would think you could just replace the hubs on your axle too, if you can't find a whole assembly. Good luck
  9. I've purchased a set of E5936 studs, but they're only about 1/8" longer than what I have. Maybe if I get the shorter E5977 nuts from the chart, it will get me full thread engagement in the nuts. With the hardware that was on the truck, the nuts have about 3 threads that aren't on the studs.
  10. Thanks for the chart. That's good information. The problem I'm having is that I'm not sure if the hubs on my truck were replaced in order to put the Budd steel 22.5 rims on the front. My truck came with the 10 bolt aluminum disc wheels originally. I'm putting aluminum wheels back on it, but the stud length is too short. I'll post a picture of my hub, in case anyone can identify it. Maybe it's the original one for my truck (FA-5221 front axle with no brakes). I hope so.
  11. Would anyone happen to know what lug nuts were used on the B model (front/steer) Alcoa or Accuride stud piloted wheels? Were they anything special? My wheels are the 3 piece locking ring type 20" wheels. I just want to make sure I'm mounting these wheels correctly. I'm putting things back to original, because the truck had steel Budd wheels put on it years ago. Thanks very much for any help.
  12. I'm looking for a generator adjustment strap for a B model. The one I need has a part number of 4MJ253 cast in it. Please message me if you can help. Thanks
  13. Thanks Geoff. That makes sense. It looks like there's an installation option on the Sealco instructions that shows the valve installed level with the tank, not below it. It shows the tubing coming off the bottom of the tank and going uphill to the top of the valve. The pressure should force everything up the tubing I guess. I can't imagine the valve was installed on the bottom of that rear tank (the wet tank), it seems like it would be pretty low, but I'm not sure. I just don't see where it was originally mounted, so I'll have to come up with something that works using that rear tank. Tom
  14. Just wondering if anyone would happen to have any experience with the Sealco automatic drain valves that were on some B61's? Mine came with one, but it's long gone. My questions are which of the 2 air tanks would it have been installed on, and how/where was it mounted? Mine is a tandem axle tractor if that matters. Thanks in advance
  15. I found the transmission I needed. Thanks BMT!
  16. Thanks very much DM800guy. Message sent
  17. Just wondering if anyone would have any B model torque rod parts? I'm looking for a couple of the small springs for the bearing cups. Please message me if you can help. Thanks It looks like maybe the R model torque rods are very similar if not identical to the B model rods. So I might be able to use R model parts too.
  18. It doesn't look like they are steel, because they are non-magnetic. They are not plastic though either. They seem to be chrome plated white metal or pot metal.
  19. For sale is a set (5) of Grote 45333 cab clearance lights. These are in like-new condition, but were installed on a B model for a short time. They come with the gaskets. I'm asking $75 plus shipping for them. Message me if interested. Thanks
  20. I was able to find four good 20" aluminum stud pilot tube type wheels. No longer need any. 👍
  21. Chalmers does not have them, so I will look into the Hastings option if I can get the specs on my particular ring set and an original set can't be found. I have one of the later TS442 manuals, I'll see if that info is in there. Thanks for the help
  22. I know it's probably a long shot, but I'd be interested in buying a set of 353GC1569 Mack piston rings if anyone would happen to have them. They're for a 711 engine. Please message me if you can help. Thanks in advance
  23. I was able to find a good set of lenses, so no longer need them.👍
  24. Thanks for the message. My truck has a TRD72 cast iron trans in it now, it must have been replaced at some point. I just thought I'd see if any aluminum ones were available since that's what it came with.
  25. No, haven't been able to find any yet.
