I was able to find the number on the hub and it matches the part number on the assembly document for the truck, 6QJ415B. I can't believe I missed it, but at least I know it's just a matter of finding the right studs now. Meangreen, I don't know of any front axles for sale for your truck, but you could reach out to Kevin All in NY. He is always very helpful and seems to have a lot of parts trucks. You should place a wanted ad on this website also, if you haven't already. I would think you could just replace the hubs on your axle too, if you can't find a whole assembly. Good luck

I've purchased a set of E5936 studs, but they're only about 1/8" longer than what I have. Maybe if I get the shorter E5977 nuts from the chart, it will get me full thread engagement in the nuts. With the hardware that was on the truck, the nuts have about 3 threads that aren't on the studs.

Thanks for the chart. That's good information. The problem I'm having is that I'm not sure if the hubs on my truck were replaced in order to put the Budd steel 22.5 rims on the front. My truck came with the 10 bolt aluminum disc wheels originally. I'm putting aluminum wheels back on it, but the stud length is too short. I'll post a picture of my hub, in case anyone can identify it. Maybe it's the original one for my truck (FA-5221 front axle with no brakes). I hope so.

Would anyone happen to know what lug nuts were used on the B model (front/steer) Alcoa or Accuride stud piloted wheels? Were they anything special? My wheels are the 3 piece locking ring type 20" wheels. I just want to make sure I'm mounting these wheels correctly. I'm putting things back to original, because the truck had steel Budd wheels put on it years ago. Thanks very much for any help.

I'm looking for a generator adjustment strap for a B model. The one I need has a part number of 4MJ253 cast in it. Please message me if you can help. Thanks

Thanks Geoff. That makes sense. It looks like there's an installation option on the Sealco instructions that shows the valve installed level with the tank, not below it. It shows the tubing coming off the bottom of the tank and going uphill to the top of the valve. The pressure should force everything up the tubing I guess. I can't imagine the valve was installed on the bottom of that rear tank (the wet tank), it seems like it would be pretty low, but I'm not sure. I just don't see where it was originally mounted, so I'll have to come up with something that works using that rear tank. Tom

Just wondering if anyone would happen to have any experience with the Sealco automatic drain valves that were on some B61's? Mine came with one, but it's long gone. My questions are which of the 2 air tanks would it have been installed on, and how/where was it mounted? Mine is a tandem axle tractor if that matters. Thanks in advance

I found the transmission I needed. Thanks BMT!

Thanks very much DM800guy. Message sent

Just wondering if anyone would have any B model torque rod parts? I'm looking for a couple of the small springs for the bearing cups. Please message me if you can help. Thanks It looks like maybe the R model torque rods are very similar if not identical to the B model rods. So I might be able to use R model parts too.

It doesn't look like they are steel, because they are non-magnetic. They are not plastic though either. They seem to be chrome plated white metal or pot metal.

For sale is a set (5) of Grote 45333 cab clearance lights. These are in like-new condition, but were installed on a B model for a short time. They come with the gaskets. I'm asking $75 plus shipping for them. Message me if interested. Thanks

I was able to find four good 20" aluminum stud pilot tube type wheels. No longer need any. 👍

Chalmers does not have them, so I will look into the Hastings option if I can get the specs on my particular ring set and an original set can't be found. I have one of the later TS442 manuals, I'll see if that info is in there. Thanks for the help

I know it's probably a long shot, but I'd be interested in buying a set of 353GC1569 Mack piston rings if anyone would happen to have them. They're for a 711 engine. Please message me if you can help. Thanks in advance

I was able to find a good set of lenses, so no longer need them.👍

Thanks for the message. My truck has a TRD72 cast iron trans in it now, it must have been replaced at some point. I just thought I'd see if any aluminum ones were available since that's what it came with.
-
No, haven't been able to find any yet.

I'm looking for a set of 5 amber glass cab clearance light lenses for a B model. I think they should be numbers LS303 or KD517. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks

I'm looking for wheels for the front of my B model. It originally came with the 10 stud aluminum disc wheels (5 hole). I would consider originals or 22.5 x 8.25 modern wheels. If I put 22.5's on it, I assume I would need stud pilot wheels for on my original hubs, but I'm still coming up to speed on that. Please let me know if you can help or give me any advice. Thanks

B model SG26 steering box lube?
SuperB replied to skydawg's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I just got a 5 gal pail of 140 GL-1 Chevron (mineral oil) from Reit Lubricants for my steering box and transmission. They're in southeast PA, not sure if they're in NJ. -
Oh no. That'a shame. Hopefully one will turn up. I was happy to see that you're confident I'll find one, Bob. Fingers crossed

Just wondering if anyone would be able to provide any help on where I might find an aluminum case Duplex 10 speed transmission? This would be for a B model. Thanks in advance.

Brian, would you be able to post a picture or 2 of the throttle linkage and spring configuration on your truck? Also, does yours have an oil filter on it for the governor?
-
I had to remove the injection pump to replace lifter cover gaskets, so I was able to confirm that the oil hose I was questioning does supply the oil to the Woodward governor. The hose connects to the top of the timing gear housing near the engine serial number stamping, and the passage goes through the syncrovance housing and up into the governor. The hose runs across the front of the engine and ends where the primary fuel filter would mount. This is apparently where Mack decided to mount the Woodward oil filter. The other hose runs down to the lower part of the block on the driver's side. I haven't pinpointed that yet, but it would be the oil supply and is currently just connected to the other hose with a tee (my filter was removed and bypassed apparently). I found a Woodward document online that says a minimum 40 micron filter is recommended to be used, and says that many Mack dealers wouldn't have honored the governor warranty if no filter was installed. The filter number above (485GB356) looks like it's the same number as the factory primary fuel filter, so maybe that's what would have been installed? For now, I'm going to install a Moroso remote filter housing and spin-on filter. It's pretty hard to find any info on the hydraulic governor for these, I guess not many were installed by Mack? Seems like most are the mechanical type. Here's a pic of the truck before we left for Macungie last month. Great show!
