  1. I wander truck has 750k on it. I’ve only had it since 680k. That or a unit pump I wandered???
  2. Have a 99 355-380. When you sit at idle for few minutes it will stubble when you accelerate just twice then even out and pull good. Just changed filter but have my doubts still smokes black on acceleration.
  3. Ok. Thanks guys. Might be that would be a good deal truck won’t be used a lot an be one less thing for up keep. I only ever seen one of them. When I was little guy with dad we were looking at a truck seems I ask dad what this was for an about that time it took off.
  4. Are there still parts available for the air starters. Or how hard is it to change A air start truck over to electric start? I was looking into a r that has a 285 air start just to use out on the farm maybe little restoration project for I an my son.
  5. His was a maxidyne slow running, slow shifting, smoke like a freight train. Had a 5 speed in it. I can remember it having a sound all of its own as the boost pressure came up. I always liked it better than the 237 the other one had in it but dad preferred the other truck I think primarily cause it had power steering. What would have been the last year for the tip turbine engine 81-82???
  6. When I was little uncle had a r model with the tip turbine engine. He and dad both called it a 300. I was looking at one that is a tip turbine but tagged a 285. Is there a difference other than fuel setting.
  7. Brought 6500 dollars was a nice straight truck except for the top of the cab. It had been rusted out around the gutter and all filled with bondo. rain like atop though. had a tip turbine engine and 5 speed.
  8. Truck developed an oil leak on top of transmission. Pulled the cab floor up and found one bolt out of the shifter and the other three finger loose. Can I lift that enough to put some sealant under it with out bad things happening. My knowledge of a transmission shifter stopped when the old farmall would get caught between 2 gears!!!! thanks guys!
  9. Going to look at a r700 this week some time had a few R's around over the years never a 700 though what will the differences be. Its a 1977 looks like the bumper sets out in front of the hood about a foot. Hood says v-8 on it but he says it has a mack 6cyl in it with a 6speed. just thinking of using around the farm would prefer a 600 but if the price is right might not matter.
  10. 1500 is 65mph. But you better have a tail wind or down hill when you’re loaded if you’re going to worry about 65😬
  11. I looked at this this morning I have the 400s turbo so 19-27. I’m going to say we are in that range. Couldn’t find a low pressure oil filled gauge and it wouldn’t stay very steady to read. That data shows 1200 degrees on pyro as a high this thing is doing good to get them to 900. Which I would think would be higher if we didn’t get enough air to it.
  12. Put a gauge on the intake. Under load it’s right in that 20psi are. See get little better at the right load an rpm. Part of what makes it a little slow is the ratio it’s like 1275 rpm at 55mph. I know that’s probably close to peak torque though for these engines??
  13. I think I’m going to put a gauge on it and just see where it’s at. No reason I can’t go in the plug on the back of the intake manifold is there.
  14. I understand the torque ratings of this engine is different. What would you all say that I should see as an intake pressure under load? The vin is. 128904.
  15. Have gotten a lot of the odds and ends cured on the truck. If I were to change the turbo and injectors an had Mack change the software could I get the 427 horsepower that some e7’s were. And how much engine life am I giving up. It has 750k on just a little short pulling 85-90k loads. Would rather put up with it being a little slow than to reduce engine life a great deal.
  16. 2000 ch613 with a I believe a 2090 transmission. The one that has the odd shift pattern ( doesn’t use the high gear in low range). What oil should be in it. Servicing the whole truck a was gonna change it. We always had used 80/90 in others but read now that that may not be right.

  18. What does the XT stand for the engine?
  19. I’ll have to get the part number Monday
  20. Maybe I should say it won’t stay up to temp setting running idle in a line. And will never warm up if you don’t put a load on it. I really have no doubt it’s not disengaging I guess more the question is where to look to cross numbers to come up with another one.
  21. Put it on in April. Seem at the time to not disengage I thought. Then this fall my help made the comment thats not ever shutting down. With engine off I can turn the fan but will also slip the serpentine belt some while doing so. I’ll say it is nothing like the one on the granite we have.
  22. Sold at a farm auction in southern indiana.
  23. I contacted Mack seems I got the last one they had. Is there other manufacturers out there that we could cross the part number to that would be this style?
  24. 2000 e7 355-380 engine I put a new fan clutch on it from Mack. Now it seems to never disengage and takes for ever to warm up as it gets colder out. This one of this viscous (one with little coil spring sensor in the middle). Not an air operated one. Did I get a bad one or is that style just troublesome?
  25. No it’s always been a day cab. We’ve got a granite that has a 310 in it I kinda like it better it does have lo low for field work I like. The 2090 is still working just not my favorite transmission.
