  1. I will Have it in my hand Monday afternoon. Thank you for the help. I’ll keep you posted.
  2. I will. We’ve had a Mack some where in the family since the b- models which were way before my time. When I was little you could go to Rochester and see close to 100 r models sitting in two yard. WAs definitely different times.
  3. Yes I see it 45 with return line going in the back side of it. Thanks for the help. Kinda of in a bad spot closest Mack dealer 60mile in a direction we don’t get very often. Not to mention they don’t want to screw with these old trucks
  4. This isn’t going to fix my problem though is it? Just something else we found along the way.
  5. Ok I put another guage that just goes to 60 and it spun it again the zero stop and bent the needle so I’d say it’s right. I’ll call Mack in the morning and get a regulator.
  6. Engine oil is right on the full mark
  7. Unless the gauge is no good but it’s a good oil filled guage
  8. I had it running twice it’s hard to hold the hose clamps on what I had available so I’d guess that’s right. What regulator we talked about??
  9. Problem has came back after a week of running. I’ll take a look at your fix and see what fuel pressure is. Seems odd it went away for that long and all at once
  10. Guess I was under the impression that the fuel level was suppose to be about 3/4 of the way up that before it needs changed. This one runs with about 1.5” in the bottom.
  11. Well I hope I was wrong. Changed the fuel water separator filters and it hasn’t done it since. So maybe easy fix
  12. Behind the breather? Surely not up on the fire wall?? Or you talking crankcase breather.
  13. I wander truck has 750k on it. I’ve only had it since 680k. That or a unit pump I wandered???
  14. Have a 99 355-380. When you sit at idle for few minutes it will stubble when you accelerate just twice then even out and pull good. Just changed filter but have my doubts still smokes black on acceleration.
  15. Ok. Thanks guys. Might be that would be a good deal truck won’t be used a lot an be one less thing for up keep. I only ever seen one of them. When I was little guy with dad we were looking at a truck seems I ask dad what this was for an about that time it took off.
  16. Are there still parts available for the air starters. Or how hard is it to change A air start truck over to electric start? I was looking into a r that has a 285 air start just to use out on the farm maybe little restoration project for I an my son.
  17. His was a maxidyne slow running, slow shifting, smoke like a freight train. Had a 5 speed in it. I can remember it having a sound all of its own as the boost pressure came up. I always liked it better than the 237 the other one had in it but dad preferred the other truck I think primarily cause it had power steering. What would have been the last year for the tip turbine engine 81-82???
  18. When I was little uncle had a r model with the tip turbine engine. He and dad both called it a 300. I was looking at one that is a tip turbine but tagged a 285. Is there a difference other than fuel setting.
  19. Brought 6500 dollars was a nice straight truck except for the top of the cab. It had been rusted out around the gutter and all filled with bondo. rain like atop though. had a tip turbine engine and 5 speed.
  20. Truck developed an oil leak on top of transmission. Pulled the cab floor up and found one bolt out of the shifter and the other three finger loose. Can I lift that enough to put some sealant under it with out bad things happening. My knowledge of a transmission shifter stopped when the old farmall would get caught between 2 gears!!!! thanks guys!
  21. Going to look at a r700 this week some time had a few R's around over the years never a 700 though what will the differences be. Its a 1977 looks like the bumper sets out in front of the hood about a foot. Hood says v-8 on it but he says it has a mack 6cyl in it with a 6speed. just thinking of using around the farm would prefer a 600 but if the price is right might not matter.
  22. 1500 is 65mph. But you better have a tail wind or down hill when you’re loaded if you’re going to worry about 65😬
