Thank you. I hope so. I’m anxious. Lol. I got the new kingpin kits put in it today. Naturally when I pulled the front drums the shoes were pretty much done so I’m off to hunt down new shoes first thing In the morning. May as well get 2 new tie rod ends too. I got a new set of drive tires to put on and I came up with 4 Alcoa’s from a buddy for the outside rears. Need a little polish work but I think I can get them to look well enough. Oh and after putting all that insulation in the cab I’m gonna pick me up a new stereo while I’m in town getting brake shoes...😁

I grew up in them. Mixer trucks. Hot, loud and ride awful. Love em. Lol. Can’t kill the things. The mixers didn’t have a passenger seat. So when I was a kid I would ride shotgun on a rotella box

Yes that’s the one I was thinking of if I remember right it has a really tall overdrive gear, like .60 or something close. That’s why you can get to 63 mph on those 6.34 rears. I’m fixing up my personal truck right now. It has 4.17’s and had the direct 107 transmission and it wouldn’t go any faster than yours or quite as fast. I swapped in an Eaton 9LL with the.73 overdrive. I have not driven it yet but I’m almost finished. Gotta mount 8 new drives and put in kingpins and bushings tomorrow. How hard were your kingpins to get out?

Yes sir I believe that is an overdrive transmission. We don’t have that exact transmission. Ours are all direct. 1 thru 5 on the main stick and reverse, low and direct on the second stick. If yours is what I’m thinking of it has reverse in the main stick... that correct?

I posted this elsewhere but I need a tachometer drive adapter. It apparently broke while it sat in the shop doing nothing. My Mack dealer nearest me has been no help so far.

Haven’t driven it yet to see how If like the transmission but it’s running again. Got 8 new drives to mount and new king pins to put in before it leaves the shop. Getting close

Terry that’s what transmissions we have. The direct. 107. Ours are not overdrive. Slow but so tough

We have a couple of trucks with that type transmission and one truck I just pulled that transmission out of and replaced it with an overdrive transmission to try and lower my engine rpm in top gear. I love those transmissions in dump trucks. I think ours all have some gear whine. In the 30 years I’ve been around these trucks I don’t think any of them have been opened up for repairs. Triple countershafts and double tough. If it was mine I’d truck on if you like it. One of these was ran out of oil 20 years ago or more. Mechanic put a seal in it and refilled it with oil and it’s been more noisy than the rest ever since but it’s still never been apart... Lol

1980 EM6-285 with Robert Bosch pump. Tachometer cable doesn’t run directly into the engine. It uses a funny little drive adapter that moves the cable over to clear the pump. My Mack dealer hasn’t been any help. The gear broke in the adapter and I need one. Can anyone send me the right direction? thank you

I’m planning to work on the truck tomorrow. I’m gonna try to fab up something different for the stacks if I can. I just do not like the headache rack. It’s just too tall and way wider than the cab. If I can figure something out I’m taking the rack off.

That’s what I’m talking about. Lol i love those things. I’d really like to have a superliner with an E9. I said I’d never part with my old R but I might let it go for a V8 superliner. Lol. I lost my dad 3 years ago. He was 66. I was gonna quit running equipment and We were gonna buy and fix up old trucks and tractors and resell them when he retired. He got Parkinson’s though and he was in really bad shape by the time he was 50’s. So I sorta get where you’re coming from. Sorry to hear about your dad
