That one looks complete enough to restore.

Not really, frame on the officer side is bent up right around the motor, he’s keeping the engine and trans for a rollback he’s building, he’s putting the rear end and drive shaft for his collection of those parts in case people need them, the body is all rusted through you just can’t see it because I’m good at hiding just enough to make it look nice in the pictures... It’d need a lot to restore... like, you’d need an entire other truck just to restore this one, only thing I can think of is maybe somebody could hack up some of the front metal for replacement panels to weld on an F cab (I learned today trying to rip that big chrome front off that it’s basically an F cab with the old grill covered up, I always thought it was just a different cab with the top half of an R model used)... and if you were to go through that trouble you might be able to get just a few more things off of it... the pump was also all rusted through and I got what I could off it which was just a few valves... what’s left that’s nice on that truck you’d have to destroy to get it off thanks to all the rust... we cracked the one windshield trying to get it off because of how bad the thing was...

I sure do hate the thought of the white superdog getting picked clean.

That one came with the rear end messed up, that’s how it ended up in the yard to begin with... the owner kinda likes the thing, he just doesn’t have the time or reason to put it back on the road at the moment, he had it running a few years ago... that’s one of the few where if someone needs a piece off it then as long it’s not something important he’ll let you have it, but leave it in one piece for the most part. He’s got other Superdog parts in his back lot if anybody wants stuff like that...

  3. Saved as much as I could off this old girl... everything else is either destroyed or would have to be destroyed to get it off... she goes for scrap in the next few days... sad to see her go but sometimes these trucks are beyond usefulness to anyone.

Something on her water pump has been pained not quite firetruck red with a chunk of my knuckle and then some more😆... Unfortunately everything already has a taker in case anyone was interested... wasn’t much left by the time it was decided she’d be scrapped...

Wow, it s shame that this CL is in such bad shape. I think may have driven this exact one during their 100 yr anniversary. They had an event where you could drive one around the lot for $1. Do you think it would be worth a 4 hour drive to go sight seeing at this junkyard?

Absolutely, and he’s fine with letting people who are interested din them climb all over them and take what they want... including parts! He’s got a ton of trucks lying around... go see them while they’re there! I know if it was up to me atleast one those Ultraliners would be making its way to my barn right now if it sousing already be there... I can only imagine someone else with more cash has the same idea...

They made me dizzy.  Did you ask about prices on the trucks?

He’s pretty much parting them out to whoever asks nicely... usually if he sells one it’s pretty cheap, a thousand or two or three depending on the truck. But he tends not to sell ‘em whole so much anymore ever since some local kids ransacked his yard and destroyed all the trucks and busses in it, many of which already had buyers that now needed to be refunded... it sucks but if you ask him I don’t know what he’ll say... might be different since they serve a somewhat bigger role in Mack history...

From what I can tell, there’s the white Superliner 2 with a Superliner 1 body that Mack used as a test mule, 2-3 of the inter-factory Ultraliners, one of which may have been a prototype/test mule, and a Vision(?) also owned and operated by Mack.

There a few Bs laying around, some Ls, an MB firetruck, a couple of MB cabs, a small selection of Es, a C, a few CFs, and a small fleet of Rs in different states of disassembly. That’s what I saw today...

Trucks there are constantly coming and going, just today they were parting out a CF because they’re going to take the drivetrain from it and putting it in a roll back. Most of the truck is pretty useless due to the damage sustained that took it off the road to begin with... we got a good many of the good parts off of it for ours and what we didn’t grab we’re either going back and getting in the next few day or someone else has dibs on it already.

Honestly there’s one factory Ultraliner that’s almost complete, and you could fix it the rest of the way up with parts off the other two... I’d like to do it myself, but swap cabs and motor off another one sitting farthest back in his field, because I don’t feel like dealing with a V-Mac system and the other cab is in better shape, but the chassis and drivetrain on the V-Mac one is pretty much complete! Unfortunately I don’t have the time, patience, or money to invest the stuff required to do it... figured maybe someone else would get inspired to do it if I threw the idea out there.

  6. Went back and took some more pictures of the old Mack owned and operated trucks... finally got those firetruck parts I’ve been after... finally had the time thanks to this virus...

    Enjoy!

Sorry for the rest of these pictures being upside down... don’t know what the issue is! I’m sure you all can use your imagination to put them all on their wheels again...

Building a stepside bed is not that hard,  I'm not a fan of a fleetside bed after going through the trouble of building the truck from the ground up. That crew cab really is beautiful though, real deep pockets needed for that. I'll bet the paint job alone cost more than I spent on my truck total.

I think it might be a factory 4 door, that’s what I was told when I was shown this truck and it looks like the same one but without the bed...

I think your rear fenders look nicer than those.

The whole custom bed on 66dc75’s is better in my opinion, it looks more period correct while this 4 door has too modern looking a bed... almost looks like it’s off a new Dodge dually with B fenders for extension... I’d like to do something like this myself one day but that’s definitely a few years off! Definitely would like to do a 4 door so I can easily fit 6 in the cab, with a bed like 66dc75’s and a fifth wheel in it for a gooseneck or RV so I can still haul with it if need be! B models just remind me more of pickups or small farm trucks than semis in my opinion...

  9. Well I've been keeping updated on a new rocket production facility and launch pad in Boca Chica, TX. They're putting up a new building and look at what I caught pouring some concrete! Figured I'd share... along with a picture of an almost finished product from the facility...253830501_starshipmack.thumb.jpeg.9e2f02cecac66a7eabb5ec0fb26a068b.jpeg

They're working it out and some of the pieces they've been churning out recently have looked a good bit better. Can't wait to these Starships flying people around the moon in a few years...

  10. Saw plenty of those pickups in late summer of last year, was still recovering from surgery and dad came by to make me go to some antique VW show at some park, then that's when we went on to check out the all Mack junkyard I took a ton of pics of. Only VW I got a picture of was one of the "Bachelor Cab" pickups... basically a half cab with only a drivers seat, and where the other side of the cab would normally be was replaced by extra bed space. I'll see if I can't dig up the picture out of my album...

Haven't found my picture yet but I did find this video of it at that very same show:
