I hear ya. I don't know the owners story either.

Was in a bad mood this morning. Had to replace a cracked dust/inspection plate on my lift axle because the original cracked and was rattling. And of coarse dealer had none in stock when they did annual safety the other day.

So simple job....one nut and one hose clamp. But hendrickson in their infinite wisdom designed it so you have to pull the wheel and the brake drum to get that one nut and bolt off. Awesome. Just what I wanted to do at 6:30 am.

Hope it wasn't a spoke hub, that makes it worse at 6:30 am. We pull them off and never put them back on. Horribly annoying to check brake linings, and horribly annoying when stones get caught in there.

I would be I interested I  the cab and doors.  Hood also if available.  Could pickup with gooseneck trailer or rollback if you have a way to load. Please send me pm.  Thanks.  Carey Leitch, Fredericksburg, Va. (50 miles south of wash., DC)

Loading is easy. Take your pick, 1970s Case wheel loader, 1964? Oliver white  2-44FL,  or late 1960s or early 1970s R685ST crane.  Cab is really rough, but if you want it I'll be gentle.  My dad plowed with the truck for years.

    Hi,

    I have a Mack Superliner 1988 R721RS1502 with the E9 v8.

I am wanting to find the history of this truck, mainly so I can compare what is still original and what is not.

Is there any resource that could provide this?

Mainly want to know what the original Diff ratios were as well as the original gearbox.

Thanks and look forward to chatting more.

Pictures or it doesn't exist.  😎

  4. 1979 R686ST single frame, 38k rears.

I can get more dimensions if anyone's willing to sell a rail.

My dad's been commenting about a noise while driving his truck the past couple weeks.  Walking around his truck today I noticed the frame cracked vertically at the splay, right under the driver seat.  We would be much obliged if anyone has a decent frame rail in a  parts truck in the Quakertown, PA region.

  5. We have the harbor freight truck trans jack, works well but you may want to make your own deck adapter to hold the transmission. The "safety" chain is a joke, and the 4 angle iron feet that bolt to the deck are slippery.  Jack handle is very nice, it pivots around so you can operate it from almost anywhere.

The jack is also nice to use for spoke hubs.

I feel as bad as I did when I was 40. Back then I was going to the chiro 2-3 times a week just so I could move around.  I'm not going to chiro anymore since I bought my inversion table, which does help some.

I won't touch an inversion table any more, I tried my brothers and threw my back out pretty bad.  I let my muscles relax a bit too much and felt my vertebrae separate enough for something to slip between them that doesn't belong between them...
