The original H model H-60/61 (cherry picker) had a flat floor I believe. The H-63 had the height dropped a bit. I think the floor was on two levels (driver side lower to allow for the dog house. Was the engine on a slant toward the passenger side. Was the H-63 floor the same as the H-67 or a flat floor. Why no H-65?

Remember seeing a lot of Cx's for them and Zumstein thereafter.

Remember the Akers Mack H's and F's well. I never saw any thing other than Mack's for them-may be a White 7000 or two. Surprised to see the IH's towards the end.
I remember reading somewhere that Akers was not big on maintenance. If a truck broke down they might just abandon it and replace it with a spare. May be a rumor not sure. Breakdown maintenance and the buy low bid new tractors.

I just recently read somewhere that it was Chicago cab. Ma bee they built some. My one brain cell can't remember where I heard this. Could have been AI or face book BS. Us old timers with trucking history and knowledge have to laugh at this AI BS. I almost do not want to correct AI as it will keep getting smarter and smarter. There is a logging website on face book that takes parts and pieces from Mack E's and B's, IH KB's, White WC's and A-Cars and conjeur up a truck. They blow it on engine models and years installed routinely. I'll stick with my historical head knowledge and that of others over AI BS for now. I guess in the end they will get it right. Yeah looking up Chicago Cab gives you a lot of info on yellow and checker cab rabbit holes!

Just turned 80 myself. I grew up in Chicago land with the B-61's(Celli, Palumbo, Vulcan), IH R-230's, White 9000 coup cabs(Material Service), A-cars and Big Henries. Got out of the Navy in 69. Moved to Ct. saw my first B-81 in person rather than pictures. Truck spotting in Ct was just as good as Illinois thanks to the building of the Interstates. Was a big fan of Tomasso and O&G until they went Paccar! I do like the looks of the KW 900 B's though I must say.

Terry I solved the problem with the END 707. It seems that the END 711 had 707 cu. in displacement. Thus no END 707. This is how we got sidetracked I guess. May be Mack wanted to further differentiate it from the EN 707. I am wondering if the END 711 problems were finally worked out before the END 675C and Maxidyne ran it out of town.🙂

The origin of the 672/673 block belongs to Mack with heads for the 672 coming from Lanova and heads from the 673 coming from Scania. So one mystery is the origin of the Mack/Scania V-8 block. Mack or Scania? The heads took two different paths -individuals for Scania and four heads for Mack; There may be other differences also such as crank shafts camshafts pistons etc.

If you go on facebook and search Mack Scania (from Leonardo Favaro) you will see the history of the relationship between Scania and Mack. This is the best article I have ever seen on the history 672 Lanova and END 673. Also the V8 history from the Mack 864 through the E9 and the Scania D14 through the D 16. Instead of getting bits and pieces about the history , this article kind of ties it all together.

What was the END 707 and how did it differ from the END673 and END 711? Not to be confused with the EN 707 Gas engine.

865 first year maxidyne. Were the bugs worked out?

I thought the Cummins X10 was going to be a Mack offering to replace the MP-7? Is this true? Maybe they are using up the remaining MP-7's

Should be the original 864 V8 (aside from the parts that is a rare collector item). If its running you can keep it running by treating it nice!
I would drop the bumper and gin pole.

Took a trip to New Hampshire over the weekend and noticed three late model CHU's for sale at the 495/95 interchange by the ABF terminal. Looked pretty sharp. They havn't had any CHU's for sale there in a while.

Or should I say original Mack Anthem. The front end/hood on the original Anthem is far superior looks wise as compared to the new Anthem. To bad they couldn't offer this as an option on the new Volvo cab. Horizontal bars would be a big improvement. Some goofy design geek thinks this present grill set up looks like the Brooklyn bridge. Huh? Also it would further distinguish it from the sister Volvo configuration. I don't see anywhere on the Mack build section of the web site where the Cummins 10 liter engine is an option to replace the MP7. This build your Mack website is definetly lacking in option offerings. I would guess there are many more options available than what is offered on the build your Mack website. The devil is in the details so to speak. (Whatever that means). To sell these trucks from the website more details are needed. Can you see how I have butchered definatly? Is there a spell check option on this forum for dummies like me?🙃 I am guessing it might be preview.

Mack H models
in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Posted
I remember when I was a kid seeing an H model in the shop with the engine on a slant as I remember.
