How hot did things get before you changed the stat?

Driver said light came on then they stopped never went above 200 driver said but we know how that goes..it doesn't get hot now but light comes on and if you don't add water truck shuts down by computer.

Running 71000 bout 8 10 hr day use bout half gallon 2 to 3 days .you can see where it pushes out on the frame tanks have more then normal water

Does it pull back into the top tank after you turn the truck off and it cools down.    If it don't top tank rad cap might not be sealing up good and letting it push out in bottom tank.  put new lid on it make sure it is the right one with a double seal  and leave the bottom tank empty. top tank when heating up expands into bottom tank, if rad cap seals good and hose to bottom tank is good it will suck it back in after cutting it off.  Mack factory rep told us 20 years ago the we should leave the bottom tank empty that it not big enough for the expansion of the water when it heats up and expands into bottom tank.

No it doesn't pull back in the top tank .it just push it out the small hole in the bottom tank cap and that's it ..I replaced the cap on both tanks at the same time I did thramastat but I could have got a bad cap.

  3. 2000 rd688 driver side air bag has a pin hole in it so I need to replace it..I took the air line off got the bottom out but cant get the top to come out does it bolt in or something..my freightliner bag looks the same and just pop in a hole

    Thanks for any help

  4. Yes turning on the shaft about half inch

I didn't  know that the yoke that goes on the shaft had splines so maybe the splines are worn

I going to try and remove the yoke from the top of the shaft and see what things look like

But I know if I have the truck up on the jack with no pressure on the steering it turns free no binding or locking

Mack dealer said could come from pot holes on the job binding the u joint set up beyond its travel and wild driver trying to fly on job site which I know they do I've gotten on them before for the same reason

I'll try to get a picture of the problem thanks

  5. I'm thinking that my u joint at the box is bad because I have a spot now that locks them let's go and makes a loud pop.if I look at the box and joint with someone moving the wheel back and 4the joint slips around the top of the shaft about a half inch ..anybody have this problem before. Been on a rough haul dump truck in sand pot holes wild driver with lead foot.im hoping it's not the box

    Oh 2000 rd690 E7 auto

    Thanks for the help

yes..., but why?  usually 315 is there for the weight rating  ...11Rs don't even come close.  Also used 9 inch rims are worth more than used 8.25...perhaps you could make a deal with somebody.

Cost double the price  of 11/22.5 and here in nc dot says tire cant touch when loaded they just do touch I've had no problem with them but problems with dot..

  7. Quick crazy question guys will a 11/22.5 tire fit and run fine on a 9 inch rim that my 315 tire was on..

Looked at changing hub drum to 10 bolt

3600 then have to buy tires and rims not a option

Called about new 8 lug rims 2600 then tires dont really want to spend that much either smh

Any advice would be appreciated thanks

Better chance the relays are not the issue. Did you clean and check the chassis grounds.

No I didn't but will get right on it cause the truck is doing  a great job since the inframe..time to go back in for a overhead check I'm on about 3 4 thousand miles now no smoke great power comfortable truck just working on the little stuff now ..thanks guys

I think it will be a lot of Farting around to change to the big relay! ! I would buy one more relay and start by changing it out one at a time with the relays in that group. tryng it for a couple of days at a time till you have tried going thru the all of them! Also Is it possible you have a bad ignition switch?

Never thought about switch ..it goes days no problem then shut down and fires right back up no issues after that ..but will look into that

  10. Ok I replaced the relay and didn't have a problem for a little while but it shuts down every now and then..I check the railway when it shut down and its warm not hot just different from the other 3 so I'm thinking of putting in a 100amp relay and replacing the 70amp or even just putting the solenoid like other models have ..what's your thoughts..thanks guys
