  1. I'm not familiar with that brand of material. Is it a knock off of some other major producer of automotive refinish product? Or is it like "Transtar" products?

    Rob

My local body supplier carries it. Its made in England, they got bought out by US Chemical & plastics. Its a great paint for the price! why pay for a name?! now that the cabs done the fun begins!

  2. Looks great! i too am a big fan of seeing a job done properly! sure gotta' admire someone going with black paint! bodywork/prep must be just right,as i have always found black the most un-forgiving,one little ripple and you can see it a mile away (or kilometer LOL!) what brand paint/supplies are you using? i have always had good luck with dupont products, just a personal preference i guess. Best of luck, hope it turns out as well as it looks,be sure to keep us posted with further progress!.....................Mark

Im using Pro-spray, base/clear. Not to fussy about the primer, but base is nice to use. b0Bo

  3. I really wouldn't mind spraying the truck for you but it certainly appears you are doing a fine job with your own talent/ability. A long way to drive but that Canadian Back Bacon sure sounds good. I'm afraid if I didn't haul at least a ton back with me, "Momma" may really put the hurts to me.

Is that V8 engine original to the truck? I thought an RW713 would have an inline Mack engine?

Keep it up as it's progress certainly looks good!!

    Rob

Rob the rw713 could have any1 of the 3 mack power... E6,E7 and E9. The v8 is original. Im glad Im almost done Im sick of sanding!! bob0

  4. Looks really good going so far!! You seem to be willing to do the job right which always grabs my interest in a project.

Seems like I've been there once or twice myself........

How'd the frame repair go? Never heard anything other than you were going to split the outer to eliminate the rust spread. I'm assuming you got it welded back together alright?

    Rob

Thanks Rob It gets frustrating at times, but its worth the effort!

The frame turned out great, I cut it inline with the x-member, that way i took advantage of the x-member bolts to help alg. and stiffner it up. I used por15 on the mating frame rails and apox. on the outer surfraces.

I am painting the cab sat morn @ 6am, think you can be here by then? I buy you breakfast!! mmm..Canadian back bacon eh! Bob0

  5. I have Mack warranties on three Canon HV-20 video cameras, and a Digital Rebel XTi at work.

The HV-20's shutter stopped opening and the camera wouldn't record.

I sent a box away at my own cost and got a quote from Canon.

I filled out Mack's online form. I was then asked to photocopy the original receipt... even though I had registered the warranty online when we purchased it, and I had filled out the online repair form as well. Getting an original receipt for an item bought two years prior through a purchase order at central office was annoying... but I got it and faxed it off.

    ummmm barry....

  6. hey does it have 2 light switches? the one on the left is a clearnce light switch(CL Lights) and the on the right is head lights(up) and markers(down) check the left switch thats what powers the outer clearnce(cab) lights. I have had the same problems with my RB's and RD's over the years. Try jumping from the left switch to the right, and check outer clearnce lights. If they power up, dont even bother trying to find the short(I NEVER HAVE!) just take the left(CL lights) switch out of circut, and wire all light to the top of the right(head lights) switch. I have ran all my trucks off the 1 switch for years with out a problem. Other spot to look at is on the fire wall abouve the motor is a black plastic relay junction box, over time the seal on them turns to shit and green death creeps in. also check on fire wall where buss bar is(left fire wall where steering shaft comes though), check for broken wires and broken or loose conection on the solenoids in the same spot, they rot from the inside out so you cant really see the corrosion in the eyeletts, use pliers and give them a shake. good luck bob0

  7. effing unions. They ought to be glad they have a job

Down here recently, a union was talking strike if they didn't get 5% per year. When they saw the line at the door for applications, they decided that working is better than not.

What size tires? I'll be looking soon for 465's. Know i'm also looking at $1300 min.

HAT whats a 465? I run 425's on my 22# front, 445's are too much money. just never seen a 465 tire is all bobo

  8. Rob Not that excide is not a good choice, but bulldog/pedagree(east-penn) batteries are the best choice! yea they cost more but the construction of the is far better than any other battery on the market. Go with screw in top bolts and when you solder your ends on, drill a small hole in the front of the lug and melt the solder through the front. its an old trick my dad taught me(but you're probibly just as old as him, so you might know this!) LOL bobo

  9. Does anybody know who the original vendor for these back glass slider assemblies was? My truck uses a two panel glass with aftermarket replacements I've found using a four panel, aluminum framed type. This replacement type by CR Laurence does not yeild a large enough opening on the left side to operate the winch easily.

    Thanks,

    Rob

hey rob the dealer still sells the sliding rear, they have some sitting in the warehouse in Chicago, up here they want $800cdn. Barry(WATT'S) wants $650us plus shipping. I will be going to the wrecker here this week for some part for the superliner I will look and see if he has any. I will ask my parts guy when I see him if can dig up any dirt on them. I want one too! bobo

  10. I am looking for 1 piece front wheels to replace my old style with the rings...What is the correct terminology and are all 22 inch one piece wheels the same (as long as the width is the same)?

If Im reading this right..... you are look for a rim and tire to change from spoke(dayton) to 1peice(budd). you can go to any size you like 22.5 or 24.5. You will have to change the hubs to put a 1peice rim on your truck OR are you looking to change the split rim to modern day dayton rim??? are you wanting to put aluminum rims on? answer these 3 question and Im sure some one can help you out! b0b0

  11. :SMOKIE-LFT: 10 alcoas for $650 thats not bad I need to find 8 for the back of my superliner. If you come across any Bobo give me a call (519)-999- 4706 I'm still using the library computer to go on the forum, I can't get on it on mine for some unknown reason. I need to get down to york some saturday to get that bumper bracket from the wrecker there. Thats close to you so we should meet up for coffee.

hey hey where in york, K&R auto? its 25 min from my place. He's a pretty good guy to deal with. what size rims you want? I get them from Paillings. its luck of the draw as to how shinny they are, but I do get to pick which rims I want. BOb0

  12. BOBO

Thanks for the info. I'm going to be coming up next week. I guess I'll be crossing over at Niagara, PC Miler and mapquest say that's the quickest way from where I live in SC. I've never been to Canada before so I'm excited, also a litte nervous because I don't know what to expect. It's a good opportunity for me and I hope it will open up some new doors. THANKS!!

When you say Niagara, you want the Queenston/Lewiston bridge NOT Rainbow(no truck traffic) b0Bo

  13. Customer wants me to take a load to Guelph Ontario, Canada. Got my passport, got a CVR# so I can get a temporary trip permit. What else do I need and what kind of problem can I expect. Oh yeah, my truck is a 1990 with a mechanical pump. My buddies have checked with their companies, one with Landstar and one with Mercer, and they say I'm exempt from the speed limiter law.

BUBBA I live 30 miles from Guelph. Dont worry about speed limiter law 93 and down are EXEMPT! I never turned my RB(01) down nor will I! which way you comming up? if through Detroit/windsor you got a SUPER SCALE 10miles inside Ont, next scale is 150miles @ Putnam, then clear to Guelph. Both coups are usualy open 24h. If comming from NY/Ont you got scale just out side Fort Erie, next one is 45miles to Vineland(ASSHOLES!) and clear saling to Guelph! if comiing fron NY, GOOD dealership in Stoney creek(HAMILTON)right off the QEW, ask for Johnny R! tell him BOBO sent ya if you need anything. Dont worry about you truck I looked at you pic many times you wont have any problems up here with it GOOD LUCK
