  1. I'm not sure about the parts. If it were me I would contact your nearest MACK dealer. Have the trucks VIN and the serial number and part number off of the axle and the power devider itself. Barry , the site administrater can help you there. He works for a mack dealer. Check out the LINKS at the top of the page...he works for WATTS MACK and this site is owned by WATTS I think. Good luck

  2. I am no kind of an authority on the subject so this is only an educated guess. I took a coarse on firearms appraisal several years ago and the big emphasis was to keep the item as original as possible unless it had to be repaired with new parts for safety.Keep all the original parts...if possible. If you ever sell the truck it will have more value if it is it's original form. However if you do decide to change it over to a single screw try and keep the original running gear so if you do sell it ,it will be more valuable to a collector. Good luck and have fun.

  3. I wanted to stop by and wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

I know I haven't been here for awhile. Been busy with work and school. I should hopefully be taking my test for my CDL not this week but the week after that hopefully.

Here is a picture of my assigned truck.

98 Freightliner FLD120 glider kit with a Big Cam 4 Cummins with a horse shoe shape over drive 10 speed that came out of an 87 Freightliner cab over.

Good to see you back, and Merry Christmas to you and yours. The FLD is an ok truck but it sure ain't a MACK. I used to own one...Lol I'm glad I got rid of it.

  4. Bruce I just wanted to say hello. I live right down the road from you in Chickamauga. I have seen your truck at south eastern diesel before and had commented on it to friends. That's Twice this week I have seen other members trucks and didn't know it. If you need any help I would be glad to lend a strong back and a weak mind to your endeavors. I wish my Dad was still alive he could get her up and running for you in no time. He rebuilt an old Model T (?) Ford pick up before he passed away. Had it purring like a kitten....not to mention his old beloved 8N Ford tractor.

P.S You might check out the fuel supply lines, the rubber....Neoprene hoses they maybe collapsing internally. If you could run a temporary one to the carb and then run it up a hard pull you may find your problem. I had this happen on my Vision and it got where it wouldn't pull itself over a speed bump.

  5. I saw another BMT member out on the road this past week and didn't even know it. Log hauler ..however he recognised my truck and sent me a PM and asked me if I had been to the truck stop off exit 10 on I-81 at Cortland N.Y. Indeed I was. I was stuck trying to find a load with out success.. Way to go Cardinal. Another one load week followed by a 900 mile dead head back home. Hell I thought your truck looked so nice I took a couple of pictures of it. I saw several other Mack's set up very similar to yours but didn't take any pictures of them.

  6. cxn613 the answer to your question is this YES the biggest advantage to an all MACK drive line is there is only one vender to deal with if there is a warranty issue or if you simply need parts and or service. If the truck is under warranty Mack's 100% parts and labor warranty is hands down the best. I own a 2001 CX-613 Vision myself and while it has been a very trouble free truck I have had issues with the Eaton rears. If they had been under warranty I would have had to take the truck to an eaton dealer to have the work carried out or at the least go through a hassle before having the work performed. Do your home work before specing the truck..Mack now has rear axles with up to 3.11 rear ratio. that is a very tall ratio so if speed or good fuel milage is an issue and it is for most of us check them out. Not to mention the straight through drive line with near 0 degree drive line angle. I have found that alot of dealers DO NOT stay current on the latest MACK products so like I said do your home work. Good luck.

  7. Does it look like a very busy peak season? When I heard the news of the big UPS order I thought that business might be picking up, but maybe they're just replacing the old baby binders, etc.?

I went to my local Mack dealer a few months ago to get an oil change and they went to checking if it had any recall items. They said there were issues with the headlight switchs on some CXs mine wasn't on the list I asked what year models were effected and the guy told me all of the CXUs...volvo wiring harness I said. Cheapening the brand...

  8. Just my two cents, Nextrans in Birmingham Al.and kentuckyanna Mack are both good shops. I had to have a cam replaced in my vision the first year I had it and they got me squared away. How ever the harmonic balancer came off a week later...now the good news it of coarse had the Mack warranty and Nextrans paid for the tow and all the work. Kentuckyanna Mack performed the work had me in and out in about 4 hours. No matter the shop always look for loose or missing bolts. World wide in chattanooga does ok just ssslllooooowwww.

  9. I cann't help you with the hood question, just wanted to say hello and tell you that one of the first trucks I ever drove was a 1978 K100 with the big cam Cummins in it. It had been with Allied van lines at one time and was yellow and white with a 13 od. That ole girls dash looked like the cockpit in a 747 there were so many guages. Also it had the old style New Way air ride. I do hope you buy the Bulldog as she needs a good home. However if your looking for a Bulldog that will kick some a$$, find one with the 996 cubic inch E-9 mack. That sir is pure power. Check out The Buckeye Bulldog on you tube. Or Killer mack both are Superliners that have the Mighty E-9 seriously modified but an E-9 none the less. 4000 horses.

  10. One more thing, you will not find anouther truck that is as easy to drive. I have driven trucks 6 years newer than my ole Mack and couldn't believe how much easier it is to drive. The overall ergonomics is better and it's just less demanding to drive it. I drove an older CH a few years ago and the vision is light years ahead of it. Last year I drove aan 07 freightliner columbia around the block and was wore out by the time I got back to the starting point. The MACK's don't fall apart inside like some of the other brands either. Give it a shot.
