My after school debriefing while I’m wiring up a low air buzzer, He’s going to be big enough to drive this thing by the time I’m done. 

Matt as I’ve said many times, Thank You for the Motivation! I’m still far from being done but I can actually start it up and drive it up the road, and I’m going to when it warms up some. Yes it is coming on 4 years since I pulled the chassis and cab out of a small shed that I had stored all the parts in since 1995 ( 25 years untouched) . 4 years is a long time,, but way more progress than the last 30 ! ( pics taken in spring of 2000 , we’ve went through Corona, Coaching Baseball, Many Grandpa projects, and WORK since then) Hopefully I can get some sheets metal on this summer. 

Spent some time on a couple rainy days this week mounting my tractor protection valve, making trailer air lines . My 48 parts LJ has a bracket in the center of the roof above the rear glass for hanging the lines , this 51 only had the holders for the gladhands  , ( they took the lines and electrical cord off years ago when they put the 5th wheel wrecker on , so I had nothing to compare with) I just put a plain pogo stick on to hold them up, hoping to complete all the plumbing and wiring (except what goes on fenders ) by next week, then start on the doors. 

A little more wiring progress on a rainy Friday, Since I started with ZERO wiring and No harness, the progress on the wiring is almost as rewarding as getting the cab on. 

Hopefully you won’t have to go down this road, mine had about 3 pin holes on each side, I was afraid it was too thin for tank sealer, it came out pretty good, a lot of welding, grinding, I had another tank,, same condition. 

No , ( Bobs LJ is beautiful) it’s actually Anderson , I don’t know much about the company except the fellow that owned the company passed away sometime in the late 50s and his wife ran it, about the time this picture was made they were hauling canned food from Bush Brothers in Newport down towards Eastern NC ,On US 70 before I-40 came through here, Dad left in the fall of 1961 and went to work for Hennis Freight until they went out of business around 1980 with Spector, Then drove for Ryder/Pie , he retired not long after they went out off business. ( oh by the way, that was Moms first & last trip with Dad, she also said it was too rough riding) 

Quick story on that Non Interstate topic, In 1958 Dad hauled eggs from a hatchery about 3 miles from us down to Miami, ( US 25 to US 1 ) then bought a load of watermelons and took them to New York City on US 1 , then grabbed just what they could to get back here to Western NC , His trailer had a put put motor on the front, to pull a fan, he climbed a ladder to gas it , and put ice in for the fan to blow cool air in the trailer, His truck was a 57 H Model Mack.( Air starter) My Mom rode with him to Miami and back here 1 time ,Christmas 1958 , I was Born in June 59 ,, So I actually took a trip down US 1 in a H Model about 6  months before I was born,, There’s your Mack Christmas Story.  ( I was 2 when this picture was taken) 
 

I found the little rubber bumpers and a perfect 1948 Standard Oil Southeastern US Road Map,, with NO Interstate System! Reminds me of stories my Dad would tell me about Running a H Model down to Miami and taking US 1 to NY City,,, any way a little more progress. Wishing All Y’all a Merry Christmas! 

Thankfully I’ve got 2 small things accomplished this week, just trying to walk over in the corner of the shop where the LJ lives and do ANYTHING once a day, Shift Boots done, and I installed a new glove box! Baby Steps,lol 

Hopefully we will get at least weekly updates on the B73 being used for projects and the classic cars moved with it. As for the LJ ,, That B73 is the light at the end of the tunnel for me now,, I’ll do my best to make weekly progress on it. 

Sold a Superliner yesterday, it went to a good home, it’s in good company, thought it would make a good photo at the new owners .
