- Thanks. I know I'm over doing it, the factory never never never polished the brass fittings and copper lines but I can't help myself. 😁

your going to out do all of us with that rig when its finished...bob
Nah. I'm just anal when it comes to paint. My jobs never suit me, I see every flaw in them.

What type of gun do you use? I'm going to eventually have to buy one.
An inexpensive HVLP gravity feed from Harbor freight actually. As long as you don't want to use one everyday, they work just fine.

I recently started using a paint line produced by PPG called ALK. $65-$85 a gallon, ready to spray, no reduction. I've tried it with and without a hardener (ALK201). Touch time is 30 minutes, longer with the hardener. Pot-life (paint in the gun, or closed container) is forever without the hardener; something like an hour with the hardener.
So far I like it. Ready to spray (without a hardener) is a plus; pour it from the can into your gun and you're good to go.
Hhmm. I'll have to give that a try....nothing wrong with saving a buck.

wait til you buy the orange....... you might fall on the floor when you buy orange, yellow, red or gold....
I already have. $334 for a gallon of single stage! 🤤😲

except the part trying to figure out why the mounted tires refused to go back on.
that's the part WE enjoyed most!
Amen to that!😁

I think you meant to say the tank was filled with greenbacks and you are siphoning them out to get it done. I bet you need an armored truck to carry the needed cash every time you go to the paint store!
Yes, my god that stuff is expensive.
The Nason brand of paint and clear is fairly reasonably priced. Still, a little at a time...time....a gallon of something this month, another gallon next month.......

Looks fantastic...must have been a lot of hours of block sanding. Doing it right takes a lot of time and effort, but it really shows.
Thanks. I enjoy almost every part of the restoration.

Looks great . What are you using for paint ?
Nason base/clear.

Will we see your truck at Winchester on Sept. 21st thru 23rd? It is looking good.
Don't think so. The paint won't be dry

Did you buy the paint in 55 gallon drums? It looks great.
I filled up the tank compartments with the appropriate colors and just siphoned off what I need.

Started shooting colors this week. I have to do it in sections because of it's sheer size. The weld joints make a perfect place to break it up.
I'll be moving down to the tops of the doors and the front and back panels with the blue and doing from the body seam down, including the box doors in the orange.
Looks like I'll be laboring over Labor Day weekend. No time for hot dogs and beer for me!

The only reason I have not been in the running for a Darwin Award for some of my DUH moments is that so far I have managed to survive them.
.......or keep them a secret.

Ask my wife about the aluminum cylinder head in her oven and the "birds eye" frozen valve seats in her freezer she somehow found in her kitchen one day when she was getting ready to cook dinner . . .
And I thought I was the only one who used the kitchen for more than dinner.....a flex plate in the freezer and a ring gear in the oven. She came home sooner than I thought and, BUSTED!

Even if the shortcomings are created by having a "DUH" moment.
Whoremembers this.....? The reason I couldn't get the rear wheel to fit all the way on.

A big thank you to BMT member B42 for hooking me up with a part.
That's why I like this group so much. Everyone helping each other with advice, knowledge or just plain support. Thanks to everyone.

a few years ago I paid $120 for a NOS early B model (?) with the pin for my mixer.
Do you think $50 is good for a used cover? I don't want to cheat the seller.
He doesn't know what to ask andI'm not sure what to offer.
-
What is a fair price for buyer and seller of a b model battery box cover? I have no idea what to offer and the seller isn't sure what it's worth.
As far as I know it is in good condition and is just the cover.

Nice work. I cannot recall the previous owner's name, but wasn't that truck out of Bridgewater, VA? Ex fire truck I believe.
Yes you are correct. I can't recall his name either. Nice old truck.
He said the grill and original fiberglass fenders were from an old firetruck.

The International was in pretty good shape with an older restoration. I removed the lettering from the doors and pinstripes from the rest of it...overhauled the carburetor and rebuilt the sloppy accelerator linkage.

It's the 401. It has the dual belts and an oil cooler in the filter housing. It has a provision for coolant to pass around the housing.
I like to add the details to make it look like I've actually done something. 😁
