  1. I appreciate everybody's help, but after pricing I think I'll have to pass. Cheapest I found was $900.

I think I'm just going to order a aftermarket grill that is aluminum and has a similar appearance to the Mack grill, it just doesn't say "Mack" on it. It's only $400 to my door.

If a 2020 grill will work, the part number would be 20920036, old number 6MF561M2.

I think that one will work, and that seems like a good part number, but I haven't located one yet.

Do you have availability of that part number?

  3. This isn’t a pic of my truck, it’s a truck I saw sitting that belongs to TVA.

I’ve got a CH613 and I want this style grill for my truck. I’ve looked on the internet and everywhere and can’t find this style grill for sale. Even called Watts and they said I needed a vin off a truck with that grill to look it up.

Does anybody know where to find that grill, or has a truck with that grill they are willing to share the vin with me?

Had the same truck with the 9 speed.  Went real well.  More power than the old 350s.   We pulled 100,000 lbs with it and highway was no problem.  Did 75mph so was geared pretty high.   I wouldn't be scared to use it on anything you use.  Our 140,000 lb super b's we used the 427s on but some people used the 350's.  too much for them in my opinion.

I've been debating on buying the Blixxton tuner for it, but I guess I'll wait and see how it does. I've got to get a wet kit on it first, as all of our trailers require hydraulics.

  5. I picked un a '97 CH613 with a E7-350 awhile back, mainly because it was cheap (bank repo). I've slowly been fixing it up with plans to just use it as a farm truck or sell it. Well one of the main trucks I use in my business took a dump ('95 FL with 3406c). The engine has went down and is probably going to be down a month or more. I'm thinking about tagging the CH, putting a wet kit on it, and using it until the FL gets repaired.

My only concern is power. We commonly gross 80-90k, how does the E7-350 compare to the 3406c? I'm not one of those people that has to beat everybody up the hill, but would like not to have to drop to the low side to get over a hill.

Are you sure someone didn't put a  CL grille in it ?  They go right in .  That trim around it looks like something Bellmore or one of those aftermarket suppliers.

That’s not my truck, it’s just a pic I found on the web. My truck currently has the one with the big bars and Mack in big letters across the middle. The one currently in it is busted and I like the looks of the grill in the pic better.

  7. I picked up a '98 CH613 with set forward axle and the grill is busted. I would like to replace it with a grill like this, as I think these look much better than the stock grill. Anybody know where to find a grill like this for my truck? I've looked online and have came up with dead ends.

I’ve still got the one posted above. It’s available and came off a 2100.

Ok  you riggers-educate me.  For 270,000 lbs seems like we would see a jeep or two in this combo?? Or was this move totally on arsenal property?

I’ll also add that all our moves on this trailer are short moves of usually just a few miles.

You are correct that if you moved this load across the country, it would likely require a 19 axle trailer setup. With this trailer we have, we often unload the machine off the big over the road trailer and take it the last little bit with this smaller trailer, because often those trailers are just to big to get the machine into where they want it.

The trailer is 5 axle lines, 8 tires per axle line. Like it is, I can scale 266,000 lb in TN, depending on route survey. Add a pusher axle to the truck and I can go 286,000 lb in TN, which is about 100 ton on the trailer.

All that being said, the move above was all on the Arsenal, from one substation to another, where regular weight laws don’t apply. Basically the military didn’t care how we moved it, as long as we didn’t tear anything up.

  11. I probably didn't get over 15 mph during the whole move, but climbed around a 10% grade from the rail siding to the substation. I think I was in 4th in the main trans and auxiliary in low, didn't even know anything was behind me. Grossing around 250K.
