Drive a Titan......You'll change your opinion on the cab being to high. I also believe it's the same cab height as the Aussie trucks.  I had a hi/lo splitter valve on the Titan blow apart the other day. We crawled between the cab and frame to change it. Took a whole 15 minutes.

Yeah I love it how guys talk crap that never sat in the seat of one . The command of the road is awesome in a Titan visibility is awesome . They run cool in the summer never worry about over heating on hot summer days pulling 120k on steep grades. I'm really pissed off about if you can't tell .

  2. Can someone answer as to why every other truck maker offers the full size 120 or longer BBC and offers 15 or 16 liter engines and sleepers but mack can't make one model like that . I mean really ? How hard it is it to make a extended hood chu offer mp10 or even  a cummins and front axle ratings up to 20k and big rears ??????? How the he'll hard is it to that ???

I've had granites and I have a Titan. There is no way to compare a Titan to a granite. The early granites were just a ch cab on a R model frame. The later granites are nowhere as rigid as the Titan. Load them both at 90,000 pounds and you'll see why they don't compare. As for the mp10, I love the motor, great engine braking, great mileage and no issues. But I still have a etech with stage 2 injectors that will out perform it up hills. Flat ground the mp10 runs away.

Yeah we're not going backward into a granite if they don't offer something bigger and better than a granite. see ya later mack

Talked to a Mack rep today. Titan is done. But he said there are announcements to be made in the next couple weeks. I don't believe Volvo is deliberately trying to kill Mack, I think they are just that ignorant and arrogant.

What kind of announcements????? Maybe a new superliner available with mp 10 and heavy front axles and suspensions and all sleeper options ??? Hahaaha

I prefer Titan than VNX, look like a real truck.

Me too. I was just wondering if volvo was still going to make there heavy haul truck. It's a shame if the Titan is done. It had the potential to sell better if mack/volvo put more effort into it. But hey it's their loss. When it comes time to get some new trucks, Mack won't get our business anymore if they don't offer at least 550 hp.

Declining sales and that more or less the 505 MP8 in existing trucks was enough to get the job done. Can't really blame them , in 9 years years we only sold 3 between all 3 of our stores .

How hard would it have been to offer the MP8 as a option???  Instant price reductiion and weight reduction would of opened up new markets . Yeah James and he's shoving these trucks up our a** that we won't be able to get parts for

Logtruckman. Mack has zero say on what goes on. Volvo killed Titan. Seems like the  new Scania boss is putting Mack on the back burner

  7. No doubt everyone wants better fuEl mileage. But epa regs back in the early 2000s actually made mpg worse with egr and then the dpf,it's only been the last few years where mpg gains have been made again but there's the added cost of def. I know alot of fleet owners that would tell you that older pre 04 engines get just as good or better mpg as these new ones. Easily we could have these newer engines minus the egr and dpf and get better fuel economy without adding more expensive parts . As far as classic styled trucks yes there's still a big market but it is shrinking Paccar will keep making classic trucks but I do think the older cabs will go away and the trucks will look more like the freightliner Coronado with slightly sloped nose and no outside air cleaners but retain the set forward axle, maybe I'm wrong AND they'll make the old cabs for another 25 years.  In reality it doesn't matter as self driving trucks are going to take over and they'll all look the same no need to stand out in the crowd then

I agree with you-but how many "new guys" will?  test will be how the old 300 series Petes for example sell vs. the "aero 500" series do.

Alot of the problem now is epa fuel mileage standards coming into play Soon. I also think the old Peterbilt an  kw cabs are on their way out . unless trump throws these new regulations out its gonna be difficult to make a old school looking truck . mack currently  offers chu rawhide and Titan that are nice looking trucks but you can't satisfy everyone .

I'm sure they work just fine and that design is quite commonly used in Europe.  very few in use here in Ontario right now for rear suspensions but I heard Mack has priced them well on new orders and hope that this design replaces the camel back because the M series can be used on both truck brands.

I'd rather have camel'back any day. freightliner has a version of t ride called tough trac . it must be ok if Daimler copied volvo

  10. Well I agree with you on the new macks not being a true mack but I would say that even if mack was still making their own true mack truck they would still be having issues with emission problems and plastic part problems at least here in North America all new trucks have problems with emissions and plastic radiators .

Ya I know. I won't win this argument. Everyone is stuck in the past. The Mack of old was king. No doubt about it. But compared to todays trucks and engines, I don't understand why everyone keeps bashing Volvo.

My 2000 E7 was far from reliable and most were problematic until the MP series came along. Volvo also has supplied them with the best automated manual on the market.

You're right too.....I'd also be happy with a Volvo. My friends have them and they have been bulletproof. But I don't get along with the local dealer, so until I change brands again I'm stuck with problematic Western Star and Cummins products, and Detroits that have constant regen issues when loaded light. Surprisingly though the Mexican built Freightliner 122SD's have better build quality than the Portland Star's.

And for Logtruckman I can report two of my friends have Titan self loader log trucks with 605 MP10's also and they pull like trains and have had no issues other than the stainless peeling on the grills and breathers.

Yeah our 13 Titan has the issue of peeling stainless trim. we put in a warranty claim because there's a 5 year corrosion warranty and Mack is currently working on fixing this issue and is gonna give us new grill and breathers when the improved  versions come out . tell your friends to do the same.
