  1. When the going gets tough, the tough get going!

...yea, going to the sale barn...

Ever since my g/f's uncle started dating his current woman, she's been trying to sell me horses soon as she found out I farmed. I'm running out of polite excuses.

  2. ...which is sorta what they were dealing with. They have a month and a half before I'm scheduled to be in again...and have seen what they have to work with. They said that ought to give 'em time to order up some wiring harnesses & such to get things back in order. They'll have it Fri/Sat/Mon...so HOPEFULLY when I get 'er back the 'lectricals and the turbo boost will be good as new. :thumb:

Sometimes 1/2 the battle is knowing when it's time to pay someone else to do the dirty work :tease:

Right! What'd they come up with for the low boost/power...if anything?

  3. Which is exactly why when I ran the 4 gauge cables from the batteries up to the electric roll tarp controls, I ran a 10 gauge jumper wire from those roll tarp controls over to an auxiliary fuse block I bought at Auto Zone...which is where all of my add-ons get their power.

The truck's wiring is the truck's wiring. I don't mess with the truck's wiring. My wiring is my wiring. My wiring is kept simple and designed to do what I need it to do...nothing more, nothing less. Starting from scratch, I can pretty much wire anything to work the way I want/need it to and it works without any problems....but when it comes to deciphering some college edumacated engineer's idea of the best way to turn on a set of lights when they aren't working, I'm lost.

Problem is though, by the time I buy the truck it's been through 2 or 3 owners and it's 10 years old. So far, I've learned truck drivers aren't diagnostic electricians. :pat: .............

"Ah ha, the problem is...not here or here so much, but RIGHT here........we'll just...run the wires around it forgetting that positive and ground should be two different colors, then use cheap crimps and what not, maybe slop some black tape around the whole works."

  4. I've been having under-power issues myself. Where would I find that to see if it's unplugged? New turbo got me 5psi over what I had...but I'm still about 10psi short of where it SHOULD be... :pat:

That short rubber hose is oil-soaked on mine...like it's leaking oil out from there.

Gotta check that, long as your prodding and poking around, replace those short rubber hose pieces. Follow the steel hose around the back of the motor and feel for holes, chances are there'll be one on the passenger side near the top of the bellhousing...area.

When it leaked it was around 22-25 max psi...replaced the hose it went to 30-35.

  5. $1/ton really isn't very good at all. Heck, that's what the company charged me to haul rock back to my own house, with my own truck, burning my own fuel, on my own time, but in their trailer. :pat:

That's the kinda stuff you do at the end of the day once in a while...

  6. try google, donnas ranch or bellas brothel the oldest leagle brothel in america.

i think jessica the midget is cute as a bug.

they are on the cb 24-7 advertising, the last time i went threw there i asked if they had anything for the value minded driver, she told me they have an owner op speical, they are a little larger but they work just as good for a lot less.....

That'd be the broker/shipper special wouldn't it....do more for less with a cheap back haul..?

  7. On Sunday nights, the TV goes to RFDTV at 7:00 for Hee Haw, then at 8:00 it gets switched to History for IRT. Pretty sure the Sarah Palin show conflicts with one of them....not sure when undercover boss even airs. :pat:

That's funny...when I had a dish I liked to watch RFD for the combine demo derbys...hilarious stuff.

But when Ice Road Truckers left Canadia, I lost interest.

Sarah Palin is a tool, I wish she'd just f*^k off and go away.

  8. And if you get to work now you can probably build youself a hypothetical tire chain bumper (we know how you like that welder).

I think he needs one of those moose plowin bumpers on there too...so next time he sees a deer on the road he can just 'when in doubt, tach it out' instead of sissifyin hittin the brakes and smashin the windshield up with his dog.

  9. On that dump, I was more concerned about the edge of the "road" crumbling and the truck turning over, not the trailer. The trailer was actually pretty level.

We were SUPPOSED to be dumping into this pit, which would contain the lime kiln dust so they could put it where they wanted it. Whoever built the road, though, put a bend in it right before the pit. Company driver who dumped ahead of me got his truck stuck when he ran his tractor off the edge....then after they pulled him back up onto the road, he gave up and dumped short of the pit and made a HUGE mess....probably lost 1/3 or more of his load.

I'm just good enough to get it where it needs to go :thumb:

Careful...being able to hit the pit with your load the first time might get you in trouble some day...

It's a double edged sword though, being good at what you do. At times, we (my brother and I) get requested by different companies through our broker for certain jobs because we know what we're doing...sometimes the jobs are shitty, others it's gravy. I guess my dad was right, people know what's up and take note...

  10. A few of us at Page Trucking got calls from the producers of "Dangerous Drives" a few years ago. Nothing ever came of it. I guess our job isn't dangerous enough for TV.

What do you guys do that's 'dangerous'?...not tryin to be a smartass...

I like to watch those shows and how they try to amp up the drama when there isn't really any...but it's neat to see that kinda stuff.

  11. yeah, I saw the "million dollar highway" one before, that was pretty good.

Back when I had my learners permit my mom bought an RV, 23-24ft maybe, and took my 2 brothers and I on a trip from Arizona to IL...we went through the 4 corners area (it was closed!) and all around Colorado for a couple days before heading east. I drove that road and remember 'holy shitting' more than a few times...lol. When I saw that episode on tv a while back, I told my gf that I drove that in a freakin RV when I was 15!

Pretty neat country out thataway...spent the night in Leadville, CO...drove through the Eisenhour Tunnel(s)...spent the night somewhere in BFE Nebraska and had to head for the tornado shelter for a bit.
